When your in android market, hit the menu button and choose downloads. Its there but now it's hidden. No prob though getting to it.
You could try deleting market from phone and installing the one from cyanogen's gapps pack for eclair.

I don't know, I feel there's a huge problem with carriers and manufacturers customizing android. Its not 1.X anymore, heck, its not even just 2.0 anymore, the interface, usability, etc. are all pretty amazing, totally untouched.
More manufacturers and carriers could get more phones to market, at lower cost, and higher profit margin, if they just used default android. Plus, there wouldn't be so much fragmentation with android on the whole anymore either, and consumers would win big with a better selection of phones, that all work the same, with zero learning curve for some manufacturer/carrier customization.
OK, rant over, onto my real post.
I've tried copying over the market from a stock international i9000, and no luck, t-mobile tab is still there, so it might be buried in an xml file somewhere else. Will try CM 5.0.8 market when I have time next.
cheers =)

No problem, I haven't done it but I thought about it. I haven't looked through the system folder yet. Let me know if it works. Make sure to do a backup!
copying over the CM 5.0.8 didn't do it for me, that was one of the first things I tried when I rooted. It's probably something in the framework.
here do this download the app ive attached go to settings in market enabler select fake [de] simyo (eplus) and then go to your market and theres your download tab no more tmobile . since pushing menu and downloads is just to hard
works! thanks.

I don't recall Sammy ever releasing anything to do with Froyo before this.. not sure how it's old news but also not sure how it can help the SGS owners since its for their tablet/pad
hey good find... don't bother with the negativity!!! lets keep it positive!!! good job maybe someone can use it.. you never know...

SGS is 480x800
Tablet is 600x1024
Some in the Captivate forums were noticing all the files associated with the tablet had that set as the resolution.
Think I might do some work to see what I can do for it... I'm on a Captivate, so I'm not sure how it'd help out the Vibrant, but I'll see what I can do.

what they are posting on different tech sites is probably incorrect like he said the firmware is associated with a higher resolution

All reports so far show that its basically the phone.. same processor, innards, screen, ect, exept for the resolution. What would be super deee duper if someone could figure out a way to be able to flip resolutions back n forth on the fly like we do on our computers... why? i dunno... just to piss off another iphone user i guess.. lol.
Reading around, I have found that the Galaxy Tab has the same amount of ram as the Galaxy S, however, when you read the available ram it says it has 444 mb (somewhere around there) compared to the 304 mb of the galaxy S (343 mb of you use the speedmod)
So my first question is if we can look at the Galaxy Tab, and just port over the code to allow more available ram to the Galaxy S?
My second question is that the Galaxy Tab supports Full 1080p HD playback. Since both the S and the Tab have the same GPU chip, I was wondering if we can also port that to the Galaxy S.
Now i know i know, 1080p playback on a phone is useless, but its not useless for ppl who have DLNA-capable TV's and for who-knows-when Samsung will get that microUSB to HDMI cable working.
UPDATE (11/7/10): Another thought came to mind last night. Reading through the Speedmod thread, there were certain amounts of ram before 720p recording and playback stopped working. Well, can we create some kind of script where we only had the allocated the ram of one of them? IDK how to really put this into words, but I don't think anyone will ever record 720p and watch a 720p video at the same time, so can we have it so that the ram is only open for one or the other, and it switches depending on whether you are recording 720p or watching it? Instead of having both of them take up ram, like have only one of them, at a time, taking up ram. Not sure of that really made sense :/
And port the large screen too.
Ya I agree I'd love a bigger screen.
10 billion dollars to have someone who can turn my screen into 5 inches.
Another 5 billion if they can do it without taking up extra space.
I'm sorry about that I just couldn't help myself

Whats even funnier is how your sarcasm doesn't even make sense because what I am suggesting is actually possible because the hardware is identical in both aspects, and since both devices run android, it should not be a hard port. Thats why I'm asking if an experienced developer or anyone with skill in programming to take a look in it.
If you aren't going to contribute an educated answer or a helpful one, please don't comment. I'm just someone asking a question, and sarcastic answers like this aren't necessary.
Ya sorry abou thatt. I see you question vut this has all already been discussed that the rest of the ram is used for system apps and stuff so you probably wouldnt want to change that.

He says system apps because of the video playback. If you go to the i9000 developtment section youll see a kernel thread called speed mod. (This is what setirons kernel is based off of) in there youll see the that certain amount of memory is needed to playback videos in 720p.
Thats what i think hes talking about system apps.
Now if you want 1080p playback AND more ram youll see why its not currently possible

Not to mention from what I understand the hardware might br similar but is not close to identical. If the galaxy s phones were identical then roms would be interchangeable etc. But it isn't. I think ports of features would be nice, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. The ram issue has been worked on and from what I understand 340 I'd all they have been able to unlock.
I think the most important thing captivate devs could do right now is aosp because that will open a whole world of possibilities bit even that is amazingly difficult because of the way samsung built their system and all of the wonderful hooks and links.

The hardware is the same, other than the screen and camera. They both have a Hummingbird 1 ghz CPU and a SGX540 GPU chip, same amount of ram.
Btw, has anyone tried flashing a Galaxy tab rom on a Galaxy S? Since most of the hardware is the same, i would predict that the camera wouldnt work, and the screen MIGHT work, but the icons would be way larger than normal, but for everything else, it should work cuz the hardware is identical.

Hi, was curious if any developers here are able to get Photoshop Touch working on the Note?
The Note is also advertised as a tablet as well and this would be so much better than the crappy Express version.
I have a feeling we need to wait for ICS for this to work but I am hoping I am wrong.
Thanks

Photoshop Touch is a "Honeycomb" application, and as such requires Android 3+ to work. There's pretty much zero chance of getting it to work on Gingerbread as it simply doesn't have the frameworks to support the Honeycomb APIs.
ICS *should* remedy this.
Regards,
Dave
If and when it works, it would be so amazing on the Note.

I dunno mate, I thought the same, but something wrong here!
Check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7H7uk6QvbM
Shows photoshop touch runs on N7000, noticing the notification bar, I believe that guy is using stock ROM (GB 2.3), made me confused.
Tried to find a working apk, but all gave me parse error.
Dunno, video is real but, all other sources says it's not possible
Regards,
Hani
There actually "is" an APK that allows it to be installed and works on Gingerbread and the Note specifically, if you've already bought it for use on a tab, then morally I don't see why you shouldn't use it (as you can buy once, install to many with apps you buy anyway) but legally I'm not so sure.
Swyped from my finger, to your face on my Samsung Galaxy Note, using Tapatalk!
Photoshop touch does indeed run on ICS. I've used it, and it runs well
I have also used the modified version for gingerbread RavenY2K3 is talking about. The creator of that version has modified resolution in the apk so as to make it run on low-res GB phones. Using it amounts to piracy, so I'd advise you to cease discussion about the GB version ;-)
The thing is, Photoshop touch, when it runs on a full-size tablet, is much more natural, fluid and intuitive. Coming to our smaller display, the Note is still a better option than most 'phones', but is still a little restricted. Basically the menus and buttons appear tiny, and they have to be. The good thing is, it's very smooth with the S-Pen.

Yes it needs to be some kind of ICS build (whether CM9 or otherwise). The reason being is that ICS includes aspects of the Honeycomb API which Gingerbread does not. These tablet elements are activated in ICS when the user sets the DPI below 200 (you need root to do this), and thus the phone behaves more like a tablet than a phone in its appearance.
This is how you will get the tablet style Gmail layout.

Try changing DPI to 220/240. for that you need a custom ROM with DPI change functionality.
