I have been looking and looking for a way to do this myself, but I'm at a lose. If someone could whip this up that would be great! I hate the black (grayish) color of the dock. Would love for it to be clear!
I will look into this after I get less hung over. 2 hours of sleep.
Who uses the tw launcher anyhow? I am just pulling your leg, it should be a simple png or 9png.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but I can not for the life of me find where it is it's odd that the Vibrant/Captivate have a different TW launcher then what we do, same with the Epic.
I actually like tw. They buddies widget rocks. Would love the clear bottom bar

I was passed out until just a bit ago. Extracted the apk as we speak.
EDIT: ok i replaced every possible image that is associated with the dock bg. It appears that its controlled by an xml and set to black with transparency. I don't feel like digging through all the xmls to figure out right now, maybe someone more experienced can look through it.

Damn it! I was thinking it was a xml but I was hoping it wasn't..
Still waiting........ haha!
I'm no expert but I believe the two files that need to be edited are \res\layout-land\launcher.xml and \res\layout-port\launcher.xml . Change the android:color to @android:color/transparent under the section com.sec.android.app.twlauncher.MenuDrawer .
I'm having trouble recompiling the apk so that my phone recognizes it as a launcher.
Like I said I'm no expert so I'm not 100% on this.

I can't even find the files that you are talking about? Are you talking about the framework-res.apk or the twlauncher.apk?

No, I was wrong.... haha! my bad. I was thinking it would be in the framework folder, but it actually might be in the system/app
Have you tried to copy the .apk to your Sd Card then change it to .zip
-unzip the file
-mess get the new .xml compiled from that
-use the app "Ninjamorph" to put the new .xml file back
Think that would help you?
Edit: Or just upload the new .xml files that you mess around with and I'll see if I can get it pushed in
OH! I also failed to mention that it is 100% a .xml file. I've messed around with some morphs that are out for other galaxy s phones and the background is still that ugly gray/black thing.
I keep getting FC's when i swap them out, I'll post the xml's. -port goes to layout-port and -land goes to layout-land. remove the -land and -port and rename the .xls to .xml.
I can't guarantee this will work so try at your own risk.
So you switched them out with Ninjamorph already? And still get FC's?
I'm wondering if we could get a copy of the TouchWiz launcher from the Epic if we could just copy and past the .xml from there?
Yea I switched them out with ninjamorph and still got problems, also tried swapping them out of a deodex'd apk and got the same issue. I have no idea on the epic, like I said before I'm definitely no expert I just like to tinker.

I'll look for an Epic version of the launcher or any other galaxy phone launcher in a system dump or if anyone else can find one a post it.

This theme is for RaduG's ROM: VanillaEclair 5 - "Welcome to Prisneyland, Fish" (20/07/2010)
I do not plan on updating this further, but the images are there in the theme for someone to take on and port to future versions or other ROMs. Sorry to all that have been using it, but I don't have the time these days to keep on top of it.
It's a port from Manup's NexTANG theme, so all credit for this goes to him. You can check out his original version for the Nexus here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685584.
I also found a Droid version. On this site you can downloaded the app/folder icons. I have not included them in my theme as am not a huge fan of them, but may include them in later or the final version - DroTANG - http://forums.swdroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=30
Please note: I do not have that much time to do this sort of thing so please do not bombard me with requests and bugs. I will try to update this but am not on any time schedule. If someone else wants to take this and run with it, by all means be my guest. What I have so far is enough for me
So... attached you will see what is themed so far. To achieve this look please follow the below:
Flash the attached theme 'HeTANG-VE5-0.4.zip' (see below the post) from whatever recovery you are using.
You will then need to change following to white text (or other) in Spare Parts, or as in VE5 - 'Settings > System':
Clock
Date
Carrier PLMN
Carrier SPN
Notifications ticker
No notification title
Ongoing notification title
Latest notification title
Items title
Items text
Items time
Then (if you wish) to complete the look apply the App Drawer icon to LauncherPro that you should most certainly be using , and the Wallpaper that can be found in the 'HeTANG-Extras.zip' file - These are just the files. Not a flashable zip.
I hope people will get some enjoyment out of this. Enjoy!
Change Log
0.4
- Themed drop down boxes
- Improved images on the popup dialogues for a better fit
0.3

- As an extra I have themed a version of the HTC_IME_Mod Keyboard. This is not part of the theme but within the 'HeTANG-Extras.zip' for those that want try it. Just install it using Astro or any other file manager app. Credit for this goes to gIMpSTa at http://www.gimpsta.com/
0.2
- Added themed Power Control widget
0.1
- Initial release
Notes for HeTANG
looks great, I'll try it later
flashed it and now waiting for boot up.
11min and it just hanged on HERO screen.
Pulled battery off and reflashed it and waited boot about 12 mins. nothing happens it just hangs on HERO screen. nandroid restoring now back to basic VE5b10RC. Theme sure looked nice but it wont boot on my hero.. :/
I suspect that the RaduG's latest changes to his ROM has caused this. As I said I used build7 as a base and because he's so fast )) with his updates I didn't really want to keep updating this every minute. So for those who do have trouble you will just have to wait until he gets a final version out and then I can update this accordingly.
Strange it didn't work though as the framework should still be identical as well as the apps that are themed.
Strange indeed. Anyone else tried flash this and with what results? Just want to know is the problem in my device or is it problem with wrong build number.
Anyway nice work trying to port this. There aren't too many themes to hero builds.

Ah, no it doesn't. I didn't want to include them as I didn't really like them and didn't think people would want them. They can be downloaded from the original thread though and used via 'BetterCut' for example.
I may include them in the final version, but not sure yet.

I appreciate you've already said this will get updated as and when, but is there any plans for including some of the other styling? the only things that I have seen at the moment is popup menus aren't styled and the search widget isn't either. Not a big deal, just wondering

I may well give it a go. At first I did port all the images from the framework over but I just ended up with everything FC on me when trying to get into any of the menus and apps, so I think I need to do it bit by bit. Some of those .9 png files can be troublesome if not treated carefully, so just gonna take some time. Unfortunately there is no mdpi version of this theme from what I can see, so each image has to be resized

Thanks The problem is for most of the files you need to look at the default image from VE5 then resize the one from Manup's version accordingly. This really has to be done one by one, as not all images are scaled down by the same percentage it seems. I'm still getting my head round it lol. I'll try and take more of a look into it soon and keep you posted on any developments. Appreciate the help though
can we get that clock widget on the captivate?
Im sure you can. There is a full Fascinate system dump that is available. Thats how a lot of people are being able to get the live wallpapers. Just have to find the exact name of the widget and associated files for it, and then figure out what it takes to get it to work. That is if it is a stock fascinate widget.
That's SamsungWidget_DigitalClock1.apk, i grabbed it from the fascinate system dump but it obviously doesn't install on my Captivate. Must need to be modified and I have no clue as to how. I'd love to learn though.
Edit: With further research into this widget.. i now know what the term deodexed means.. not sure how to do it though.. still researching.

I'm also very interested in converting (deodexing) packages for use on other firmwares or phones so it would be great to hear how you go!
I got the odex file deodexed, resigned the apk after adding the classes.dex file and it doesn't install, i feel i'm close though. I'm not sure widgets are a good candidate for this process but i don't know any better.
I've actually gotten further.. past the errors i've been getting and had the .apk load on the phone successfully, i get errors on the phone now loading the widget in logcat so I probably have to work on it a bit more.
Has anyone else actually been able to do this successfully? I'm using the customizable themes, a-la framework-res.apk hacking as my starting point on this. How much harder can bringing over widgets be? If anyone else has more experience than me on doing this, I could use some tutorials or tips on apk hacking. I can't imagine that something as simple as a widget would be hard to port over.
I think I've actually seem a clock similar to this on the market place when I was looking for a clock widget. I'm not sure the name though I'll see if I can find it again.
hi guys,
I recently put the stable version of CM9 on my captivate and it was great. but the trebuchet launcher seemed kind of laggy and would redraw sometimes. I saw that the actual trebuchet.apk in the /system was about 7MB. so I modified another version and took out everything that wasnt needed, and now I have a nice light version that is super fast with no lags or redraws. It is only 575 kb!!!!!!!. I didnt like the Nova, Apex ect. I just like stock.
so if you guys wanna try this one along side the stock trebuchet if in cm9, just rename the file and put in /system. remember to fix the permissions. If you like it, do what I did and replace the existing trebuchet. let me know what you think or if someone can make it better.
Note: there is no wallpaper chooser in this launcher I took it out. so just use some other picture from the gallery, but the live wallpaper picker is still there.
Also Special thanks to GrainOsand For making the original launcher, this is a modded version for the captivate
This launcher should work on all ICS roms. I dont know if it works in gingerbread or Jellybean. I advise not to try it in gingerbread/JB since it is not tested.
also if you notice in my screenshot I use the walkman music player, I think its much better than any other player, its fast and stable with the stock lockscreen controls.
i can post the apk if anyone is interested

I basically took parts from different trebuchet versions, what ever was the smallest size, and removed all the wallpapers. It is much faster, i think its because the program is so small so doesn't need much memory.
to install. if you already have a trebuchet in your system with CM9 you can replace with this (thats what I did) but if you feel uncomfortable doing that, you can rename the file and then put it in /system so both launchers will show up.
I suggest renaming and putting alongside the other trebuchet first to test. then if you like it replace the exsisting trebuchet. I dont want anyone to complain that they wrecked their OS.
So i renamed to old launcher to .apkold in /system/app and copied in the new launcher. Its been running the boot animation for about ten min now i will give it another few minutes but i have a feeling i did something wrong?
NO, you cant change the file extention!!!! it has to be .apk. if you want to rename it you should rename to Tebuchet2.apk or something. obviously the .apk need to be there. also i hope you are running CM9. i said in the original post this is for ICS only!!!

yea i think you did it wrong, you cant alter the file name of the original launcher. either you replace it with this and make sure the name and permissions are exactly the same or keep both and rename the new one to Trebuchet new.apk or something
Cool thanks I went back to CM9 and it works well hope there is a CM10 one on the way!!
I wont be making a CM10 version until I use CM10. and that will only be once cyanogenmod release a stable RC or final version of CM10. but if someone else wants to make it and post it here that would be great.

Hi, I just downloaded your Launcher, But havent installed yet, cause Im just still learning about all this stuff, know a lot of Linux and Computers, and because of that, I always want to be sure what Im doing, so before doing it I was wondering, I just put it in /system and then What? I suppose, I need to reboot phone, but How can I choose betwen both Launchers? I looked for an option in Settings, but didnt find nothing...and second thing, with this launcher I can't use my own pictures for Wallpaper?
Thanks in advance dude
Edit: I placed it in /system/app folder, Set the same permissions of the original one, reboot, but nothing, I can't find a way to switch it, Do I have to change names so the new one replace the old, and then name the old one with just a random name temporaly, ??
I'm sorry for posting a question in here, and not searching, but I'm getting really ******* frustrated! I've spent hours on this and it won't work!
I have this app, Music Hunter, which is really great, but it's not the most beautiful app in the world, and it got me thinking, why can't I theme it myself? It's just some .png files to change, isn't it?
So I opened the apk in 7zip and started changing the pngs (without extracting it). I used Paint.NET. All the png files are the right sizes.
About two hours later I was done and I was ready to try the new apk, but it won't install, what am I doing wrong?? Are there any other files I need to change too?
I've also tried NinjaMorph but that wouldn't work either.
If anyone could help me, with a guide or something that would be nice!
I'll post the apks

When you pushed the edited .pngs back into the .apk, have you selected 'save' as compression method instead of 'normal compression' etc.?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
It wont install because the signature was broke. It needs to be signed again. Also if you edited .9 images they likely won't look right since they weren't decompiled.
Yeah you probably need to sign it. Use zipsigner 2 on the play store. And also, like the above guy said, if you edited .9's without decompiling, you're gonna have some funky looking images.

I am trying to do some customizations. On my previous phones (Droid 1 and Droid 2), even with stock firmware, I was able to use ROM Toolbox Pro to replace the icons.
Well, on the Droid 4 it mostly doesn't work. I was able to replace the ugly ADB Debug icon with a better one, but I can't replace the signal, Wi-Fi, battery, etc - it reboots the phone and the old icons are still there.
I made a backup of the original icons, and the folders show: com.android.systemui/res/drawable-hdpi, and they have names such as stat_sys_signal_1.png
I extracted framework_res.apk and am literally unable to find these at all. They have a similar ones, but the icons in question are NOT there, I scrolled through all of them to check. None even named the same thing. I poked around in the rest of the system/framework folder, finding nothing of use.
Does anybody know where the heck these files are stored at on the stock firmware? I swear I've heard of a blur_res.apk before, but again I can't find where that might be. If I find them, I should be able to just inject the customized PNGs on my computer and overwrite the file on my phone...

Wow! I actually didn't know that there was an app that could change the phone's icons. That sucks that it doesn't work well on Droid 4. Just to clarify, are we talking about the icons in the notification bar? Like the battery power level, wifi indication, etc?
Well anyway, I'm not sure where the actual icon files are located. I've always used a flashable mod to change those icons, or gotten a custom ROM. But, if you want to know, I'd try and contact one of the Droid 4 developers on here, like Hashcode or myfishbear. Maybe shoot 'em a Private Message or something. They do a lot on here, but maybe you'll get a response out of them.
Sorry I can't be more help. Just wanted to give you a reply since nobody else is showing you any love. Good luck. Let me know what you come up with.
Yep! The app is called ROM Toolbox, there's also a Pro version (I think you might need the paid one to do icon changes)
I used it quite a bit when I had CyanogenMod on my Droid 2, as the default CM icons were ugly. I'll try PM'ing those guys and see if I'm able to figure anything out. Thanks.
And yes, I am talking about the notification bar. I call it the status bar, but same difference.
