Hello all
I have the latest Froyo Rom, i9000XXJPK and have re-installed it 3x, wiping cache, doing factory settings each time... but I still get missed calls at LEAST 50% of the time... which is pretty pathetic considering my phone is still, largely, a phone.
I am running WidgetLocker and Launcher Pro (both latest versions) but have run both those without a problem on versions of Eclair... so I do not know what the problem can be, I have a strong, constant signal.
Anyone have any ideas, or have the same problem with Froyo so far?
Tx
Mark.
I've never had this problem.. It might be your network.. What frequencies does your network use?
It might also be faulty hardware

Hi
Do you have JPK?
I dont think its the network, my wife has an iphone 3gs, no problems with that...
As far as hardware, it would be very strange, IMO, for something to be so intermittent when I am not touching my phone at all, I am repeatedly phoning it, the screen is locked and the signal is full strength. I called 5 times, two calls were missed. Doing the same with my wife's iphone there are no missed calls.
I will uninstall widget locker, then launcher pro to see if one makes a difference... they try my son's sgs with standard eclair.
Thanks,
Mark.
Running JPK on O2 and never had a problem with missed calls.
Running JPK on vodafone, adn no problems here.

hmmm
are you guys running OCLF (one click lag fix?)
if so, which version.
my problem persists even if the phone is not locked, so it's not widget locker.
thanks,
Mark
I was running JPK for almost a week and found it great, no missed calls (I'm a chauffeur). I had the OCLF installed and running and use a Vodafone SIM. have only gone back to JM1 in anticipation of the official Froyo any time now.
Paul.
No lag fix installed, but using launcher pro. No issues with the phone at all with this rom.The only issue I had was not putting the correct apn settings back in (forgot to back up the original) but this only affected data. Resolved after an hour googling.
Thanks all for your input.
Removing OCLF, Launcher Pro, Widget Lock made no difference.
I eventually did a partial rom restore, going back to a JPK I had earlier in the week, and restoring just the system part of it. I phoned myself x10 and had no missed calls.
So I reflashed, wiping all with factory reset, restoring my user apps and settings with titanium pro, and the problem is back again.
I guess I will have to restore the apps without settings and see if there is something messed about the import of my user apps with titanium.
No idea what else it could be at this point.
tx
Mark
Did you use the settings from 2.1?
If so you have the answer there.
It use to break things in froyo.
So flash and reinstall the apps manually.

Yes, I'm using OCLF v2.12(?) and LauncherPro.
EDIT: You're on orange, have you enabled sharing with T-mobile?

Ive had a bit of a nightmare day with this, got stuff working fine, then imported ONE backed up setting for Folder Organiser, and whammo, the bloody missed calls started again.
Moral of the story, do not restore ANYTING, ANY SINGLE SETTING from 2.1, it may cause missed calls, loads of them.
Now back to scratch again, for the 4th time today... and used appbrain (torturous, but better than nothing) to reinstall stuff. At least I will be able to go 2.2 to 2.2 again with some relative safety.
cheers guys,
Mark.

Unfortunately I also have this problem. I am on jpk but installed it from the beginning without restoring any setting. I also have launcher pro and oclf. I don't know what is causing this but it's frustrating.

Hi
The only way around it (that I know) is to wipe everything and start again. Use AppBrain to remember what apps you need to download. Once you are Froyo, you should be able to use Titanium again between versions of Froyo. The problem is not launcher pro or oclf though.

Tried a SIM card?
Have you tried switching the phone with a friends' SIM card? Maybe it's a problem particularly with your sim card.
An option also would be a sim card from another provider.
Good luck!

Hi
No, the problem is related to importing settings from eclair to froyo.

Apparently they released the JH2 again but including a SPL fix, so people already on JH2 will need to flash back to JG8 or something, then flash forward to JH2 again to get the new SPL fix
I got JH2 the other day. Yesterday my phone was going retarded, freezing and losing signal when it never had before. Seemed ok last night and today though I haven't spent much time with it today.
GPS was totally out of whack last night, sitting still and my location was jumping all over the place. Google navigation is unusable. Checked compass in GPS essentials and it was fine but in nav it just spins around and can't get it right.
Youtube widget changed. Now shows most viewed on the main bar but video and search buttons are not functioning properly. Right now it only shows the search button. If I search or launch youtube then go back the video button will be there but neither thet nor the search button will work. Wish I had just left it alone.
did you get the update with the spl fix?
and was your 3 button mode working for you before?
if not does it work with the new update?
lol so many questions... and thanks for the replies and the update on the firmware.
Just update dude. Everyone is experiencing various issues regardless of the firmware. I run 3 to 4 times a week using endomondo and the GPS tracks my route almost flawlessly. A few hitches here and there but nothing horrible.
My 3 button combo wasn't working at all and I was already on JH2. Had to do the registry trick to get Kies to flash the new JH2 on my phone and now it works. Upgrading to the new JH2 is the best choice to make, especially if you have plans on using a few mods.
I highly recommend the battery mod available on this forum after you upgrade. The SGS stock battery indicator is horrible and inaccurate, and I rather not waste my homescreen space on a battery widget.
Ya, did the update a few days ago. Three buttons work now and my gps doesnt think im in japan anymore (ya it was that bad) anyway definitely worth the update.
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
My 3 button mode worked before the update, I haven't tried it since. I haven't rooted and not sure yet if I will, will see how official 2.2 goes first.
Still losing signal though. Yesterday the girlfriend tried to call me and said she either got a busy signal (WTF) or it just went straight to voicemail.
Today I tried to make a call and had to redial two or three times because it kept losing signal. Def a problem with the phone and not anything to do with reception in my area. Only phone calls though, never lose signal when using data or market ect.
Guys, I'm a bit dense on this subject so please be kind.
I have JH2 on my Galaxy. I can't remember if I updated to this version via Kies.
So far, the 3-button recovery problem has not affected me. I haven't rooted Android (since I don't need SU rights), I haven't yet unlocked the phone (no need) and I haven't attempted any Android system updates. I guess I could be called an average user. I haven't tested the 3-button issue.
What circumstances could arise down the road, which would make it necessary for me to do a 3-button recovery? In other words, is this a problem which could affect all Galaxy owners?
Thanks.

I havent been able to update to JH2 from JG9 (trying to use kies but thats a prize in itself) but I have in the past gotten where I would try to call, and as the call dropped while still dialing it would tell me the radio is off. Or it would tell me im in airplane mode etc.
Now for the last 24 hrs I have yet to be able to make a call, although datta and texting works perfectly fine, every time I make a call it says my radio is off. And the same problem when someone calls, they are lucky if they get a fast busy signal.
Im talking with bell to get a replacement in store, if not I have a 'insurance' plan that'll give me a loaner etc while they ship it out.
Any update on whether your phone is still dropping into Flight mode?

No, it's supposed to work on .25... but you could always try .32 or an older .25 kernel.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
I'm pretty sure it isn't a kernel problem, but I have not tried 2.6.25 for quite a while. I do have the same issue.
Between this and the NAND problem, I always keep a fresh backup. Whenever my outlook goes away, I reboot and restore the backup.
There are some apps in the Google Apps (gapps) that we don't have installed. I once tried installing all of them, wondering if any of them are required to keep the outlook account, but my phone wouldn't boot correctly. I think I might explore that approach.
I have a different problem keeping me off of Android right now. I have a Kaiser, and Android started eating my SIM cards. Every few days I have to go get a new card. The old one says "no SIM card installed" regardless of what phone I put it into. So I'm using WM65 for a few weeks to see if that cures the problem or if it is failing hardware. But I have a backup kaiser, and I will put Android on that and try to investigate this Outlook issue, using WIFI. No promises! I have investigated this before and never made progress.
Hi,
Got a really annoying issue with my Nexus One that has been happening since the Froyo days, when I leave home to go to work I turn the Wi-Fi off on my phone to save battery. Sometimes I use the widget sometimes I go through the settings.
The problem is that the 3G doesn't alway's kick in, the only way for me to get 3G working is to turn my phone off and on which always works.
Any suggestions on why this is happening and how to resolve them?
I am running Stock Ginger Bread on my Nexus One on the the Vodafone network in the UK.
Try checking your signal strength: *#*#4636#*#*
You can try to enable 3G only and see if you can keep a signal.
My signal is sometimes intermittent due to topography. Stupid flat Ohio. Haha

Thanks, it won't be that though because once I turn the phone off then back on it's there. Also once I turn W-Fi off and 3G doesn't kick in, then it won't do untill I restart. Also another reason why I know this isn't the case is because even when I do this at work 3G doesn't kick in and there is a Vodafone 3G mast on the roof
never seen this problem before, but it sounds like something that might have to be fixed by doing a full wipe and reflashing your ROM. i know its drastic, so maybe do a nand backup first. then flash and see if the problem remains. if its still there, than just go right back to your backup and no harm and nothing lost. worth a shot.

I'm on a stock Nexus One unrooted so I shouldn't have to Root to fix an Android problem. Never Rooted before but considering it.
I got the exact same problem with Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs, can't remember if I had that issue with MIUI ROMs, but definitely with CyanogenMod ROMs.
Instead of rebooting the phone I suggest switching flight mode on/off it's faster than a full reboot
Haven't found any real solution yet and always thought I'm teh only one with that problem as I couldn't find any other person with that issue. Right now I'm testing different Radio/ROM combination and if that doesn't work I'll need to check if any app is causing the problem.
Any chance you are using Tasker?

Hi guys, I started having issues with my SMS this morning. Now, I can't send messages reliably, I'm not sure if I'm receiving them properly now either. On top of that, I am was having issues with 3g, sometimes the icon would not appear at all, and others it would not load web pages or send data via internet enabled apps, i.e. facebook. I must stress that I did not change absolutely anything, and that it just started happening. could this be a flaw with cognition? or is it just AT&T being... well... AT&T?
I assume it's just AT&T being AT&T, I had issues with that exact scenario about a month ago. Cog is working fine for me, but you can always try to backup and re-flash and see if that helps.

oh and for the record I'm running 3.04. Looking in to 4.1 anyways, wondering if I can update it without having to wipe everything. Can I restore apps + Data if I go from 3.04 to 4.1, or will that cause all sorts of hairy issues still?
No problem at all. Did you do your research around the forums and see all the reviews about the inspire not being all that it's cracked up to be? Not trying to sway your decision or anything, just making sure you know what you'll be getting into.

Hi guys,
I have this strange problem, it even seems random.
After I turn wifi off, my Note does not connect to 3g anymore.
And I have to reboot the phone to get it working again.
Does anyone experience the same problem, or knows a sollution?
I rooted KK1 and flashed LA4 using Mobile Odin.
Cheers,
Daan
I've had this problem once, but it worked again after a reboot. Haven't experienced it again. It happened on KK5, but i flashed LA4 yesterday, so it's too early to tell if it will happen again.
It also happened on my Desire HD with MIUI and also while running CM7, so it might turn out to be a bug in Android.
I guess you had turned/switched off data network mode by pressing and holding the turn off button for two seconds.
Try and turn it off and see if it is the same symptom that you had before.

No, this is not the issue.
I manually set the APN settings for Telfort, removing MMS and setting it up for "internet" only.
Did a wifi on/off cycle, with a short interval and it seems to work.
Going to test with a longer interval. Not completely convinced yet.
Hope it's fixed.
---------------
edit: Not fixed!
On wifi for half an hour, turned it off and [email protected]#$% 3g does not connect anymore.
Maybe it's just Telfort. They don't have the Note listed on their website, but still.
My infuse 4g does this. I have to put it in airplane mode then back to get my data to reconnect. It did this stock and on serindipity 7. I couldn't find a fix either.

Annoying stuff! Cycling airplane mode does not work for me, only a full reboot.
But if you had the problem too, It could be that it's the network's (in my case Telfort's) problem.
Maybe I have to get my sim replaced, but I'm switching to T-Mobile in about a month.
So it's a bit of a pain.
I am currently using the infuse on o2 in Germany, but it did it on att in the states also. I can't wait to get my note. I am just waiting for it to be released on o2 over here. They have the black but I really want a white one.

Telfort used to be O2, it has been using KPN's network for a while now.
So it's probably not connected. Though it is a strange coincidence.
I'm off today, I think I'll walk by the Telfort store to ask for a new sim or something.
Maybe they'll have to flip a switch somewhere.

And I think I recall having this problem a few roms back as well.

Thats a pain i was so tired of formating,..reformatting....coz many custom firmware have some error and new updates keep coming almost daily...and all ask to wipe for best experience..dat was when i finally decided to come bk to stock and stick to it...
yeah it doesnt hav those fancy colors and throbbing speed which a custom rom boosts about but...but hey everythin works flawlessly and i dnt have any tension of random reboots and alarm not ringing..or any smartphone related error to comeup...plus all my apps and schedule is there forever no reinstalling tension....enjoying my phone....
Okay, so I I did a full wipe and installed a deodexed rooted LA4.
I still have this issue.
Also tested on KK1 stock and still experienced this issue.
If it does this on KK1 and LA4 it's reason enough for me to believe it's the network.
I'll just wait for my T-Mobile plan to start. Meh.
edit: It seems to work just fine on CM9 :-/
