We've got reports coming in that users with some Milestones, Vibrants and Fascinates running Android version 2.1-update 1 are seeing a silent update to the Android Market (version 2007 -- an update from version 1714), and it brings some of the features (including the widget) from Froyo along with. On the other hand, we've got a Fascinate in our hands that doesn't have any of those changes in its Market. After some digging around we're pretty sure that something's going on, so we're enlisting you guys to help get to the bottom of it. Head into the forums and let's compare, shall we? [Android Central Forums] Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

Seems like it just updates the market to Froyo standards - not exactly a big difference.

Your best bet is to just install a Froyo rom.

[Q] [Question] How to Dump ROM and Root New Device (Mi700 DroidPad)

Hi guys,

I know this is not a G1/Dream question, but I believe the best developers are in this area. I am about to get my hands on a new Mi700 DroidPad, a budget Android Tablet, with Android 2.2. I wrote a review which was picked up at Engadget http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/30/csls-500-spice-mi700-droidpad-runs-froyo-looks-awfully-famili/. The software as I can perceive it so far is problematic (slightly buggy). Since this is a new device (and I have checked for any development efforts from the Net and found none so far), I was wondering what I should do in order to:
1) Root the device
2) Dump the ROM
In regards to rooting the device, I was thinking since it shares the same CPU as the Aria and Legend (MSM7227), can I just use the one-click root method? I will try that, but would like to know alternatives if that fails.
On dumping the ROM, well... I have no idea what can be done, but would love to try doing it, so that Flash can run on it. At the moment, though it is on 2.2, Flash does not appear in the Market.
Anyway, thanks a lot guys. If anyone can help clarify the matter or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. Btw, I'm trying to arrange with CSL to give developers some discount on purchasing this device which is equal in functionality with Samsung's Tab, without the crazy pricing.
Thanks!
we need someone hlep us how to root ???? please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

[Q] I need a bit of help removing all signs of root/flashing.

I've messed up my efs folder, and idioticly didn't back up, and now my phone doesn't work with my sim card, so I'm shipping it off to Samsung to get fixed up. But of course, I've rooted, used half a dozen different roms and firmwares, and I'm not really too sure how to cover up all my tracks.
I've unrooted using BackfireNL's method for Eclair, before upgrading to Froyo (just to make sure).
In my 'About Phone', though, three things are concerning me. my Baseband, kernal version and build number. My Baseband version is 'I9000XXJPP' and my build number is 'FROYO.XXJPO'. These don't seem very official looking to me. I've flashed the JPO rom from Samfirmware.
And, more worrying is my kernal version.
'2.6.32.9
root(at)sep-35 #1'
(I couldn't put an at symbol cause the system thought I was trying to post a link)
Surely it's not supposed to say 'root' all up in there, plain as day? Is there an official stock kernal I can flash? I've had a search, but I can't seem to find one.
Those are the correct settings for the JPO ROM.
I have exactly the same and haven't rooted yet:

Cant you just format the internal sd from the recovery blot?

[Q] Yesterday Gingerbread Update Available, Today Gone

Yesterday i started KIES and found out that there was an update available but i did not have enough time to update it so i cancelled the procedure. Now today i started KIES again again and it says that i already have the latest firmware. I am using Froyo XXJPY with Seed Mod Kernel K13C and Lag Fix enabled.
Can anyone guide me in this problem?
Seems that firmware was retired 'cause it has some bugs.
User are getting overexcited and Samsung have pulled 2.3 .

Ok. Thanks a lot for your replies. I was thinking that there might be something wrong with my handset. Does this have to do something with Apple lawsuit.
Also kindly let me know which one was the pulled version so that I can flash it through Odin.

Does this mean that I have a stale gingerbread?

I updated over the weekend to 2.3.3 and after an initial problem with the notification bar FC on start up, (fixed it with a cache wipe and data wipe from the three button boot loader menu) everything seems fine.
Was I just lucky or unlucky to get this update.
I'm on O2 UK but I had flashed 2.2.1 from samfirmware.com with odin.
It was a pre-mature push, and I don't think they will going to launch it before lauch of SGS 2, let's wait when they roll it again :-(
The answer is provide that Google had some issues with the update and got it pulled.

[Q] Spls/radios and flashing to CM6 or CM7.

Ok...I know this has probably been asked a few times but I am on my phone and would like to know thos before I get home.
So I am going to root and flash a Tom on the g1 I just got for my friend. I was thinking about trying both cm6 and cm7 and seeing which one runs better on this phone.
After I root and clash the custom recovery will I be able to go straight to froyo or gingerbread or must I flash the correct radios/spls first.
I found a few good guides on how to root and get a recovery but if anyone could point me in the right direction on how to get to cm6 or cm7 it would he much appreciated. I want to make sure I get this down before doing it so I don't brick his new phone. I am onlybfamiliar with rooting/flashing roms on samsung phones and the thunderbolt.
Thank you in advance for any help you guys can give me.

instead of cm6 i would use froyo by laszlo which is the same but much smoother with a theme. for cm7 go with cm7 magpie which is the fastest in my opinion. both roms use radio 28.25 ( on the threads. magpie doesn't have a thread.) and hboot 13d.

New Market?

Anyone else get the new market update? I cleared my market data and restarted it and my market was different. Version 3.4.6. It is now renamed to play store. Also there is an update for Google music which changes the icon and name. Go check it out.
Wow I didn't believe you at first... but I opened the market and saw

I can't get past the change mentally. It's stupid I guess but the branding change just feels wrong. I think some things become iconic and for some reason the Google Market and the icon for it became deeply rooted for me.
Does anyone else feel that way?
i like the new icon but not sure if i like google play.
