I am trying to use the HTC Aria to connect with my laptop using the pocketcloud app. I have vista on my computer is this even possible? and if so how do i remotely connect? If not is there another program that will allow me to do the same thing?
Yes, it's possible. It's just using the RDP protocol. Very simply to setup. Right-click My Computer and you can set it up from there. Then just connect via your IP address.

The IP-adress of your computer.
When you run it when your device is connected to your "private" WLAN, just use the internal IP-adress of your computer.
When you want to run it over the internet, you have to fill in your WAN-address from your Router, and forward port 3389 to your PC.
[EDIT:] Make sure "Allow Remote Connection to this computer" (or something like that) is enabled on your computer.
I have set up my home computer to accept incoming connections and can VPN in but then I can't get Resco File Explorer to open or view any files on my home computers. I've used the computer names and I've used IP addresses to map the drives but neither way works for me. My questions:
Does anyone successfully VPN to their home network? If so, what do you use it for?
i have succesfully vpn to my network at work and i use it to browse the files on the school computer. and i dont use resco file explorer. i use the htc network plugin (or watever its called) and map the drives
Greetings. I've searched and find only assistance regarding setting up remote desktop on the PC. When I run RDP on the Kaiser I get the "cannot connect with current settings" error. I have network management for programs that connect to the internet set to use Media Net, and programs that connect to a private network to also use Media Net. I'm using a 6.5 cooked rom (PDA Corner) and the 6.5 RDP client software. The 6.0 RDP only hung at "connecting". I'm probably missing a check box somewhere. Thanks for any help.
Hey guys. I just downloaded AndroidVNC from the market. I'm really excited to use it, but i cant seem to figure out how to set it up. It wants a nickname, address and port? And I'm lost. I'm running vista 32bit. any help is appreciated. thanks guys
you need a vnc server on the computer. I use tightVNC. A few choices are available (realVNC, UltraVNC, etc) but you need to download, install and set that up first then run the app on your phone
Uh, no. You need a VNC *SERVER* on your computer.
Nickname: what you want to call it for easy identification.
Address: the address of your VNC server, i.e., the public ip address of your home computer if that is what you are configuring as a VNC server.
Port: the port that your VNC server is configured to listen on for incoming client requests, typically 5900 for X:0, 5901 for X:1, etc. Note that X is the unix X server graphical system, for which VNC is designed -- it is not by design for windoze, though it has been extended for such.
isnt RealVNC a VNC Server?
Yes http://realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/index.html
hi first of all i am new here and very green
i had a major meltdown of my laptop which i usually keep all the passwords for IE.
long story short i lost all my passwords but had some stored (on IE) on my nokia 930. i have no way of getting the password reset as i do not have the email address anymore (disposable one doh), but have the info stored on my Lumia. is there any way i can get the info off the phone so i can get my old account back?
tbh i am not sure where to look and have tried google (ing) it but can't find an answer.
thanks in advance
There's no easy way to get at the cookies on a Lumia, but there are a few tricky ways. One of the least bad, if you run Windows 8.1, is just to turn on synching between the phone and the PC. On the phone, go to Settings -> Sync my settings, and turn on the Internet Explorer and Passwords options. This does send your passwords through Microsoft, but it should work. On the (new) PC, use Windows 8.1 and sign in with the same Microsoft account you used to sign into the phone. Make sure the PC is also set to sync settings, run IE on the PC, and hopefully it'll have your credentials!
The next best option / best option that doesn't send your credentials through a third party is probably to use a proxy. Fiddler is free and fairly easy to use. Install it on a PC, connect the phone to the same network as the PC, run Fiddler and tell it to allow external connections (the setting for this is under Fiddler Options), and then go to the WiFi settings on the phone and tell it to use the PC's IP address (and the port Fiddler is listening on) as a proxy server. To set a proxy, press and hold on the WiFi network that you're using (on the phone) and select Edit. Once the proxy is set, use IE on the phone to browse to the relevant sites, and you'll be able to see the cookie values (which are not passwords, but are authentication tokens that are usable at least in the short term). If you need the secure (HTTPS) cookies, you can tell Fiddler to decrypt HTTPS traffic and then export the certificate it uses to create fake site certs. Install Fiddler's root CA cert on the phone and you'll then be able to see HTTPS traffic too.
thanks @GoodDayToDie.
I will give it a go, although I don't run 8.1 on the laptop I will go borrow someone else's
