Hey guys, thought I would share a fairly simple ROM with you guys. This is stock FroYo with every bit of Sense and bloat removed that I could find. This is for the user who wants as lean a ROM as he can get without the downfalls of AOSP builds in their current state. I also put together a couple extras for you in a separate .zip file. I can offer no real support and there will be no updates. It is what it is. Enjoy!
Features
- Fully deodexed and zip aligned, based off Stock FroYo 2.2
- All Sense and Verizon bloatware removed + any other misc. crap I could find
- Reboot options in power menu
- ADW is standard launcher (Moved to data/app for easy removal)
- Vanilla Locksceen

As always, all credit goes to the great developers we have here at XDA, I didn't come up with any of this stuff, just slapped it together for my enjoyment and hopefully yours as well.

I am sure you can push the vanilla browser.apk via adb. I like the Sense browser so I have never looked into that.

Pretty sure the browser.apk is a stand alone app not dependent on anything but you may be right so def. dont take my word for it!

Excuse my ignorance, but why in the world would anyone want the vanilla browser over sense? Have you seen the copy and paste implementation? Word wrap on zoom? Slower rendering? Just curious, as I would kill to have the sense browser on cm6.

actually i rather use the vanilla browser over sense browser, the vanilla browser does have copy and paste, and to me it seems quicker the the sense browser, plus the vanilla browser has more options. i don't use word wrap on zoom. i am also not a fan of the sense camera and video camera since the vanilla camera and video camera is much better to use, but those are my opinions

Yes, I'm aware that vanilla browser has copy and paste. I was just pointing out the crappy excuse of an implementation. As well as the slow rendering engine. What options does it have that sense does not?
Again, just being curious. I have used both browsers extensively, and sense has always been far superior, imo.
what crappy excuse of an implementation are you speaking of, i think the vanilla browser is far superior then the sense browser, i've had plenty of problems with pages loaded on the sense browser, also the lack of speed on the sense browser is horrible. as for features in landscape mode you can view the options plus i think the look it better. but these are just our opinions, hopefully the dev can add another version for people that like vanilla over sense.

I'm loving the theme, but I am getting the FCs on htc_ime also.
Hopefully all the icons get themed for the next release too. And the search bar. And the power control matches the rest of the theme.
Also, the nemo widget gives me the 'no more room' even on a blank home screen.
That's all I've noticed now, but so far great job.

I actually got tired of the dark search bar but I can bring it back, Nemo is a backported program so I cant do much on that sorry, Its a lil out of my android knowledge reach. As for the HTC_IME I will be working on that so bear with me it still works if u install it with Estrong or Astro.
i just realized the default android keyb doesn't seem to work either. i'll mess around some more.
EDIT: nm, it was just being quirky...
Great work. It brings what i loved about the old xRom and combines it with the best of N1. So far it seems stable, and looks fantastic.
all the green has gotten me feeling like incredible hulk. Is there anyway you can make a 1.2b to include the latest features from 1.2 without everything themed like in 1.0? 1.0 had less theming and it was good for my taste.

Im already working on 1.3, BUT I will do a 1.3b since 1.3 is just going to be performance tweaks mostly. I appreciate the feedback this is all for the community, just giving back what little i learned.
I'm just making a simple request here plz don't flame but if you can please provide a morph of your dialer and musice but can the music widget be the original one
I played with a couple hero ROM's back in the day, but have been running Cyanogen for a while.
Due to the 2.1 ROMs floating around I figured I would check out the old Hero ROMS to see if they picked up speed... and they have. A LOT.
My only issue is that the two ROMs I tried doesnt have a real flip clock anymore. They are the same as the weather widget app. Before you could actually watch them flip around. Also, in the past, everytime you went to the home sceen showing the weather widget it would go animated. Now you have to give it a vertical swipe to see it do its thing.
What gives?
HTC did an update to help with the speed of the Sense UI (removal of the flipping animation from the clock among other things)
Is there anything I can do to get the old flip clock back. That was half the reason of running a hero ROM.

There is a paid app on the market that looks just like it, I think it cost like $.99 or $1.99.
Theres another app called Flip Clock but its just that. It flips though
meh, the features kind of useless anyways, slows down the phone for a flip animation lol...

Oh so true. But then again, what is the point of multi-touch when you can zoom with one finger?
Its cool and I like it. lol.
Ok so I found this in an old thread
"go find the old one that has all of the animations you like then extract the .zip folder then go to system, framework, then find framework-res.apk, extract that, then click on it, then go to res, then anim, and theres all your animations."
I found an old ROM with the flip clock and I want to put it into MLIGN's as his seems to run the best/fastest on my phone. Does anyone know what he means by "then go to res, then anim"? Can't I simply replace the framework-res.apk in MLIGN's?

No you can't just replace as the framework controls more than just animations, it controls just about evry aspect of Android's UI and android would brek if it did not have the correct framework-res.By open up res then anim, he means rename framework-res.apk as framework-res.zip, unzip it and you'll find what you're looking for

oh ok. That makes more Sense (lol). If I did that would I need to resign anything? If I do, is it the framework-res.apk, the final update.zip file, or both. (I have never done any of that BTW)
Would it be better just to replace the files somehow through adb or via the console just to see if it works?
Also, what is the worse case scenario with all of this? I can't brick it right? What makes sense to me is the worse I would have to do is boot into recovery and re-flash the ROM.
Thanks a lot! You guys are awesome!

I don't think you could brick, it doesn't affect your spl, radio, or recovery..
Ok, I hope I did this right.
I opened up the framework-res.apk on both MLIGN's and JAC's 1.6r2a as I am told that has the old flip clock. I couldn't tell which .xml would make it flip. There were a lot more xml's in MLIGN's than JACS by the way. I took all of the xml's from JAC's and pasted them into MLIGN's so it replaced them.
I then re zip'ed framework-res.apk and signed them using Stericson's signing bat file here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580
From there I just put it into the update file for maps v3.4. That way I wouldn't need to make a new update-script file and it kills two birds with one stone. Then I resigned that.
Does that sound right? What about the CERT.RSA, CERT.SF, AND MANIFEST.MF files? They seem to be different in each update.zip file I come across.
Edit: After fooling around a little bit more, I found out that the CERT.RSA, CERT.SF, and MANIFEST.MF changed when I signed the files! So I understand that now. I guess my only question/issue is if it is ok, that I changed a bunch of the xml files in framework-res.apk/res/amin/ when I think I should have only changed the ones pertaining to the flip clock. I just dont know how to tell which ones those are.
i did this for the hero, maybe it helps
see here, the flipclock is a widget. i deodexed the file from the old rom, now it works on the latest released roms for the hero.
Animating Flip Clock Widget
I have a clock widget with a real animating flip, which does not require sense. Check my thread.

This is the Acer Liquid ROM with some Sense goodies.
I didn't intend on releasing this, as I created it for myself, but I decided to put it out there to start up the Liquid ROM development. This is based of the IncredibleDoes port. Unlike the stock ROM, this has Sense at it's core. Doing this has fixed a lot of problems the original has but unfortunately broke a couple features that will hopefully soon be corrected.
This ROM is not for everyone, but that's not to say that it is for anyone. Again, this was made for my own personal use but some of you might be just as interested in this as I am and I hope that someone out there will enjoy it. This is, to me, in it's alpha stages but if you want to give it a test run go for it. I'm liking it more and more as I use it.

Don't quote me but since this is a port from an Acer device, and Sense is a HTC Proprietary i would assume an AOSP kernel would be most appropriate.

SU is there, not able to find people.
I do notice that favorites are list at the top on the contact/dialer page.
Also keep in mind that there's no htc lock, so don't use the htc clock for alarm.

I've got a superuser app..but yeah no contacts or people app..and tbe only two folders you can make are for bluetooth and facebook contacts.
Still and all I'm digging this rom.

Bah, how did I forget the contacts. I'll have and update tomorrow afternoon to address some of the issues you guys are having.
In case you need it/want it before tomorrow, here's the htc contacts apk for now.
push it to /system/app
Tried the ROM. Liked certain aspects of it. I did have some issues with the camera. When I would take a picture, it would snap fine, but then display the "television channel is off the air" thing. Rainbow lines and no picture. Restoring my SkyRaider until issues are resolved. Good job dev! Keep up the great work.
Wonder if we can strip the sense incoming call off of it (looks out of place).
Works surprisingly well except for the 3d gallery and the agenda widget.
I ran across an awesome mod last night in the Captivate forums and thought I would share it with you guys. What is it? Basically, it's a modified/customized TouchWiz Launcher. According to its creator, gtg465x, it offers the following features:
-Landscape mode (270° rotation)
-Transparent app drawer background and no icon backdrops
-New fly-in effect for app drawer icons
-Removed text "Press and hold this page to add content" from blank screens
-Galaxy Tab specific code removed to reduce app size
-Enabled 16-bit mode for faster/smoother animations
Click to collapse
Another awesome feature it gives is the ability to alphabetize your apps in the app drawer (much like the Vibrant launcher).
There are currently four different versions of the launcher: (1) regular dock/regular icons, (2) regular dock/colored icons, (3) 5 icon dock/regular icons, and (4) 5 icon dock/colored icons. I personally tested each of these out last night and they worked great on our Fascinate.
Again, I did not create these and take absolutely no credit for them. My goal is to simply share what I consider to be an outstanding mod. Hopefully somebody else will enjoy the mod as much as I have .
Here are a couple of pics of my favorite of the four versions, the regular dock/regular icons TW Launcher (the two that are funky are in landscape mode):

His post with the mod can be found here. Here are his installation instructions .....
Installation (If you're a noob, I recommend using Root Explorer. If you're not, you probably don't need this installation guide.)
1. Copy the default TouchWiz30Launcher.apk and TouchWiz30Launcher.odex (if applicable) from /system/app to your SD card as a backup.
2. Delete TouchWiz30Launcher.odex (if applicable) from /system/app and copy this new TouchWiz30Launcher.apk over the old one.
3. Set permissions of the new TouchWiz30Launcher.apk to rw-r--r--. You can probably get by without doing this. Haven't tried it.
4. Important! If you are installing the new dock version you must clear launcher data to unhide the apps that were in your dock previously. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Running > com.sec.android.app.twlauncher and then force stop, clear data, and press home.

I recommend trying all four of these versions out. Hope you enjoy! BTW: You can bet your ass I'm gonna be including this mod in my theme very soon .

PWorks great. This is my favorite tw set up so far. I live how with froyo it implements Denver like preview, pinch on the home screen and it brings up all 7 screens, pinch in the app drawer and it brings up a preview of all pages for faster navigation
Edit. Here r some pics of the 5 icon colored
sent from my fascinating fascinate eating delicious froyo.
The only reason I started using ADW a while ago was for 270 degree rotation. Otherwise i use a very vanilla UI on my phone (plain black wallpaper, only 1 home screen, no animations or transitions etc - i know, boring).
This works with superclean 2.1 and had this come out a few months ago I bet I would have never used ADW. For me personally ADW feels a little snappier, and Ive grown to like that I can customize the qty of rows/columns in the drawer. But I bet some people will like this a lot. Thanks for posting.
Regular/Colored and 5Icon/Regular have switched downloads. Reg/Color should be with 5 icon, 5 Icon should be with reg.
Nice, TW gets better.

Note that this is Froyo-only, which is why we haven't been able to use it before.
Dude you rock...thanks for the info...works flawlessly. The only thing that I was truly missing from my touchwiz launcher.

how did you change your app drawer icon? from my understanding that could only be done on ADW/launcher pro, is this ability now possible on this modified Tw or are you using some other app?

That's the way it came. Its the 5 icon tw
sent from my fascinating fascinate eating delicious froyo.
I'm using the 5 Icon/colored with a one-step Odin debloated/debinged EB01 froyo. I love the TW mods. But every time I exit from Task Manager, the modded TW errors out with a FC and randomly removes apps from my home pages. That is the only time it gives me trouble. I suppose it's like the old joke: Doc it hurts when I do this-- then don't DO it!
Really sorry to have to ask this, but I do not understand the installation process. The download link is a .zip file, not an .apk and the contents of the .zip file does not have an .apk to push so I am rather clueless as to how to approach this. I most likely overlooked something. Thanks to whoever points out my flawed procedure.
All the contents of all the .zips have TouchWiz30Launcher.apk in them......
I'm sorry. Thanks for putting up with my silliness. My mac only showed the contents of the apk I assume, including the res folders and xml files. It works fine on the pc. Thanks again.
No problem. Glad you got it working
would it be possible to have this posted as CWM package? I never had any luck with modifying with ADB or messing with system files
LOL....I'm surprised these links still work. FYI: this is just a tad outdated. If you are satisfied with the laucher, by all means use it. I would, however, recommend using CrushD's (more updated/funtional) version here.

Here you have my second rom (following in the footsteps of McSense, my first one). To my knowledge this is the first custom rom based off of the 605.3 GB OTA leak for the Incredible. It is extremely stock and streamlined, with a rom size of exactly 100mb (!!). This is about as close as Sense can get to AOSP folks, so if that is what you are looking for you have come to the right place.
CREDITS
-As always a huge credit to Jermaine151 for getting me on my feet with all this stuff and answering my questions.
-Big thanks to Wildstang for being a helpful guy and letting me use his port.
-Thanks to Sk806 for being a coding master and giving us quick settings.
-Thanks to Wdfowty for the advanced power menu.
-HUGE thanks to Google, for not being douches like Apple and giving us this great, open OS. Eternal thanks.
-All the great members of XDA.
Normal disclaimer about how flashing a rom can be dangerous for your phone and such. Please always perform a backup before flashing any of my work (or anything really). If you some how mess up your phone it's your fault, not mine. You are not allowed to sue me, all you'd get would be student loans anyways.
*Note: this ROM does not include a Setup Wizard. Simply sign into the Android Market to start contact and account sync.

If you're not a fan of Sense then I would definitely recommend it. This thing flies! Plus I love the AOSP app icons over the Sense ones and the MIUI music player is nice. I just plain think it's better lol.
**** guys I forgot to put the email app in lol if you have already downloaded it take this (attached) and push it to system>app with permissions:

Haha so did I, that's why I made this. And yeah I think it is even faster. It is much smaller/lighter and doesn't have Sense bogging it down. I am loving it so far.
Edit: link is back up, sorry again about the hassle guys. I just didn't want people to have to worry about pushing the mail.apk on their own. Please try it out and give me all the feedback you can!
Hell ya! DL now!!! Best ROM hands dwn. Great Job bro

Well you can probably pull that launcher apk pretty easily and push it in this rom if you really want to run it lol but all your decision. To each his own.
Edit: Damnit, the email.apk still isn't working. Really sorry about this guys, I'll get it figured out. Just hang in there.
Ok sorry sorry sorry guys lol but this is what early releases are for right? The download link has been updated one more time with the working email client installed and if you had already downloaded it, take this attachment, delete original email.apk, and push it to system>app with permissions:

But tonight is my last night of summer so I am going to go get shwasted lol please try it out and let me know what you think. I really don't think you will be disappointed. Enjoy!
Everything runs smooth. Only problem I have is that I have the paid LP and when I use swipe gesture action "Pop up bookmarks" its in gray and white? Can you put it back to black? Or how can i change this?
