Samsung has release JI6 in the USA for Tmo in their new Kies Mini, Posted their guide on my site, also this was confirmed by official samsung twitter that this is the exact same update tmo is pushing out over the air.

Did you pull this one from your phone after getting the ota?

The Kies update would let me see the missing apps when I first launched the market. If I installed an app from the market then I could not see the protected apps anymore. Do you still see the missing apps after installing something from the market?
Just created a MD5 file, it's the same as the "[ROM] T959UVJI6 OTA Stock ODIN Flashable".
My market is still missing desktop visualizer
Market Fix
For those of you having problems with the market, download SGS tools from the market, apply market fix, and you should be able to see your apps again.
On a side note... has anyone noticed that haptic feedback does not work with the android keyboard. It only works with Sype and samsung keyboards.
There's got to be something causing the market discrepancies, but if the MD5 is the same it doesn't look like the code. Would flashing with ODIN with the pit file vs. without the pit make any difference? I believe it was common practice not to use the pit to flash the JI6 OTA.
I flashed with the pit file and the tar and I still don't see all of my apps..
I've flashed it every way I can think of with the same issues. The only one that made a difference was updating with Kies, but like I said on first market access I could see the apps but if I installed one I could no longer see them.

Mod Edit: Mind the language, and the flaming
Yeah, Im not sure whats going on here.
From day one since I bought my phone I have had GPS problems, and I have tried every fix out there to no avail. I usually find 10 or 12 satellite but gps doesn't lock onto any of them, and usually takes forever to get a accurate reading.
I finally reverted back to complete stock jfd and am gonna wait for the JI6 OTA.
But I think I just might have to exchange this phone out for a mytouch hd, and give up the beautiful amoled
BTW Ben don't even bother arguing with the dum dums, its just a waste of good brain cells .

i was having problems with gmail not working, market apps etc...
flashed JFD with 512 pit and repartition checked.
then flashed JI6 with 512 pit and repartition unchecked.
that fixed it.
i think you have to repartition or some of the old system files get left behind.
problem is if you repartition with 512 pit and ji6 the phone doesn't boot, so you have to start with JFD and repartition it and then update to ji6

You are constantly asking people to donate to you, what the hell is with that? Every thread you've started you want people to donate to you.
That aside, this is Samsung's stock firmware, not yours. Thanks for posting the original, but I wouldn't donate for work you didn't do.

DO NOT FLASH THE VOODOO LAGFIX WITH THIS ROM!
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/SXWLND5AKI
That file contains ODIN, the 512 pit file, the original firmware and the new leaked firmware!
To use ODIN you need the samsung drivers installed. You can get them here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
How to flash the update using odin.
Power phone off
Plug USB to computer but not phone
Open Odin.exe
Plug the USB into your phone while holding down the volume keys (Don't touch power!)
One of the fields will turn yellow in ODIN
Click PIT and select the 512.pit file
Click PDA and select the Update.tar file if you want to try the leaked rom or Original.tar if you want the stock rom
Click start
Odin will do it's thing and then the phone should reboot. It will take a few minutes for it to reboot the first time.
DO NOT CLICK RE-PARTITION WHEN USING Update.tar! The leaked rom does not include dbdata.rfs
If you already did that, you will need to flash back to the original rom included in the download first and then flash this new one... The original rom does include dbdata.rfs which will will repartition the phone correctly.
As always, I am not responsible for anything you do... ever...
P.S. Please don't trash talk in this thread.
Nandroid of a clean install: http://www.multiupload.com/FLX6P17XDP
I flashed back to the original rom and tried to use this nandroid to upgrade and it didn't work. Just sat at the Vibrant screen.
What it is:
Leaked rom from samfirmware.com
Android 2.1 (Eclair)
Good things:
New battery full notification
HD Camcorder (Same thing just new name)
Media Hub
Samsung Task Manager (Also available when holding home)
New Swype with the audio input!
Old Root method still works (verified)
Phone is usable during media scanning
YouTube can be set to HD
Cosmetic updates to music player
New and re-arranged browser settings
I tested GPS while driving, at 3 destinations in 3 different cities and all of them locked on within seconds! I also rebooted and tested at each location just to make sure and it grabbed immediately. I did notice while testing at home it was much faster in the Maps app then most other apps that use GPS.
Bad Things:
Can't flash JAC's kernel without modifications
Many apps missing from market There is a fix below...
Slide to unlock screen takes a way bigger slide
The lag is coming back. I'm going to pull the apps I like and go back to the stock rom worth voodoo.
Linpack (1st run) 8.13
Quadrant (1st run) 894
The only thing I DON'T like about this rom is that apps are missing from market.
I have tested on 2 different phones. 1 was normal with lagfixes, etc installed and after flashing there were weird problems with the camcorder, etc. We then flashed it back to stock using the old samsung release in odin and flashed the update, now everything is working great. You might want to revert your lagfixes or something before running this. Maybe it's because it doesn't include dbdata.rfs?
TO FIX THE MARKET:
Use something like Root Explorer to mount the system as r/w and then edit /system/build.prop
The 2 lines to update currently show
ro.build.description=SGH-T959-user 2.1-update1 ECLAIR UVJI2 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=Samsung/SGH-T959/SGH-T959/SGH-T959:2.1-update1/ECLAIR/UVJI2:user/release-keys
Click to collapse
Update UVJI2 to UVJFD in both lines like below
ro.build.description=SGH-T959-user 2.1-update1 ECLAIR UVJFD release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=Samsung/SGH-T959/SGH-T959/SGH-T959:2.1-update1/ECLAIR/UVJFD:user/release-keys

After you download a few apps the market will refresh and it will work again.
awesome!
I'll bet the gps fix also! this is a nice base before voodoo. thanks!
I'm going to do some tests.
Simple question...
Does ODIN work with Mac, or is it still just PC?
As far as I know, only on PC.
Which means I have to wait til I'm at work monday unless an awesome person makes a version we can flash from recovery.
Damn! Ok, I'll just bust out my PC laptop for this one. Can someone post a link to which ver of ODIN I need to downlown for this? Or is it already added in the link above?
Thanks!
Anyone have a mirror of the download? Also.. what is the leak? is it Froyo 2.2?
I have added a link to multiupload which should distribute it to several sites very quickly.

Wrong. Windows 7 x64 + Odin works fine for me, they're probably using the WRONG drivers.
Any ideas?
I have been experimenting with upgrading and down-grading my tab, it now seems that I can't flash any ROM that contains a hidden.rfs, the flash will just stop near the end of flashing the hidden.rfs and never continue, then I have to go through recovery processes to get a working tab back.
I managed to get my Tab back to CPW standard UK JJ3 by dumping the ROM from my other Tab and writing it, I then tried to update with Kies, which also hung at what seems to be exactly the same place.
I have tried repartitioning several times with the p1_add_hidden.pit but it just doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas? Can I check the size of the hidden partition see if that' the problem? Then modify the hidden.rfs to make it smaller so it fits?
Nobody at all got any feedback on this?
Anyone had any luck with this? I'm guessing it's a partitioning issue but it'd be good to know.

It sounds like you're currently partitioned without the hidden partition. I would think flashing a full ROM like JJ4 with the P1_add_hidden.pit in Odin would be the fix.
After thats up and running, use my JMC upgrade package to safely upgrade.

Roto i wanna ask you something. You say "safely" upgrade why ? Because on your FW's you remove the boot.bin and the SBL.bin ? So that a user wont be able to flash them and something go wrong ?
As far as i know my tab ( A euro one ), is factory unlocked and i will have no problem whatsoever in upgrading the bootloader and the baseband.
Isnt that right ?

Unlocking is unrelated. I say safely because flashing a bootloader is the only thing that makes me squirm. If it fails your device is toast. I never want to give anyone firmware that has the potential to destroy their device. I'd feel bad

And you are so right in removing them...
The leaks from Samsung's servers of JM6/JMA/JMC/JMD flash a signed recovery, after flashing it is impossible to flash unsigned sbl, boot, and zImage. No more downgrade (and possibly upgrade).

I thought my original post covered this? I can't flash _any_ ROM that uses the hidden partition. I have tried repartitioning a dozen times wit hthe p1_add_hidden.pit, that goes through fine, but NO ROM, full or otherwise, down or up from my current one will successfully complete flashing the "hidden" partition.

You never mentioned JJ4 or Odin specifically, hence my post. Unless you spell out exactly which firmwares you tried and which software you used to flash with, how can anyone offer assistance?
If you've tried ALL firmware and All flashing software, that leaves only your computer or Tab at fault.

Im not really worried about my Tab, i just think its a cause for concern that somehow iv stumbled on this problem. If its just the flash in my tab thats damaged its not a problem.
I have tried every firmware available on samfirmware as well as ripping the firmware from an identical tab i have.
Neither Heimdall, Kies nor Odin (either version) would get past flashing hidden and they all stop at about the same point. I have tried flashing various firmware without hidden with no problems. If i then repartition it will flash about 80% of the hidden then just stops.
Problem isnt my pc, i have tried several machines and virtual machines.
I think its a curious problem that would be good to find the cause of.

Question for rotohammer
Once upon a time I bricked my Verizon Galaxy Tab trying to flash a custom ROM, the only way I could bring it back was by using Odin and flashing the hidden pit. Now every time I install the original verizon rom my tab is extremely, extremely slow. I have been trying to reformat and wipe clean to start over, but I haven't had any luck.
Any suggestions on how to: either flash the right pit on it or remove the hidden partition? Anything I can do to bring my tab to full speed. I have also tried the overclocked rom with voodoo5, and at this point anything I put there is extremely slow. The only way I can get it to operate normally (Kind of) is to flash the Honeycomb Alpha rom, then restore to a day when it was working fine, however this breaks my auto rotate sensor.
That is how I use it now a days, but it sucks that I cannot use it on landscape mode.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Follow up from my previous question to rotohammer
By the way, just in case you were wondering, the rom I flashed to unbrick it was a GSM ROM, that was the only way to make it past the Samsung logo.
So, my theory is that I have problems with it because now I am trying to flash CDMA roms to a GSM partition/files system? Excuse me if my post does not make much sense or I am using the wrong terminology, I am extremely new a this. I just know enough to get myself in trouble.
Thank you again for any help.
I've encountered the same problem as the original poster. SGT with CPW CSC causes problems with the hidden.rfs when trying to flash ROMs. Does appear to be a size issue with the hidden partition - I wonder whether this has been sized incorrectly when it was originally flashed as re-partitioning doesn't help. I'm currently on a XEU ROM so I guess I'll find out when Gingerbread is officially released whether I can flash that or not. If not, I think it'll need to the internal SD card repartitioning.
Anyone got any tips on how to do this?
I was trying to just update the modem file on my I9000 which was working fine... It seemed to demand a PIT file so I inputted just the PIT and the modem file.... Now... Nothing....

Any ideas or suggestions that dont involve sending this damn thing to bell again would be great.
It might be you checked the re partition box, which I'm poetry sure you don't do if you are just flashing a csc on its own, but I'm noobish, so its just suggestion! As for the pit as well...not sure, but hang in there, answers will come, If you have download mode then all is not lost

Basically it's next to impossible to truly brick the phone.
If you can boot into recovery or download you can fix thru myriad routes all available here on XDA if you just use search.
If you can't then life is a little more difficult, but it is relatively easy to build your own rig to force the phone into recovery.
If you can't fix yourself by those methods, there is nothing your carrier will be able to do either.
buy a jig from ebay and see if it works. There like $4
Thanks for the suggestions the responses to this thread really gives me more confidance in playing around... (just what I needed )
I will definitely be interested in making a JiG at some point just to be absolutely sure life is peachy.

I was flashing my phone back to stock tonight and even though ODIN said it completed successfully (passed all the steps, incl SBL.BIN), it is completely dead; won't turn on.
I'm assuming I'll need Connexion's debrick service now, but the big question is HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
I can't figure out WTF went wrong even though ODIN went through 100% fine.........
Basically, the download mode status bar went to full and the software said successful, but the phone never rebooted.
Any help would be great.

I haven't checked the thread you mentioned; I will. I've got a jig and that isn't working; Won't power on, nothing. Tried 3 button combo; nothing.
^ Was that the "3 button fix" Odin that u used to flash back to stock ??
If so, then it only flashes the sbl.bin and NOT the boot.bin file. And that would be the reason that you are now hard bricked. Because coming from Gingerbread bootloaders and flashing only the sbl.bin from the stock 2.1 eclair, you now have mixed bootloaders, which = brick.
But at least that brick can be fixed these days.

Actually, I was using the Odin v1.81 that came with my copy of All in One Toolbox - Funny thing is, this is the version that I downloaded back in March; it'd been working fine for months. This was the first issue I'd ever had with it.

Pretty sure the aio contained the "3 button fix" which very irresponsibly only contains one bootloader.
I wish aio would die.
People defend it because its a helpful program. I'd like to remind everyone reading this. Aio is and always be closed source. The developer lost the source. The program is unmaintained. The program is a one-click nuker. The program is responsible for a lot of bricks
I fought the battle to have it removed from the site. I lost. Its time for others to step up and report that program. Aio captivate toolbox is a captivate deathtrap.

I have a Galaxy S, had some software issues, and bit the bullit and did a hard reset (hte 3 buttons) this didnt fix, so i flashed (no PIT) and this didnt fix
so i've done the PIT + the 3 files, then straight after clear cache, hard reset, reboot and there is still apps (the ones causing the problem) and personal information, like my emails and my email account still on there, all my routers i'm connected to etc.
how do i get this phone back to factory fresh, no information on it apart from the basic. just like it was the first time i switched it on?
its doing my head in
From the Wiki:
*2767*3855# - Factory format. WARNING! ALL DATA WILL BE DELETED AS SOON AS YOU TYPE IN THE FINAL #! IT DOES NOT ASK FOR CONFIRMATION!
Edit: enter it in phone -> dialer.
And be sure to have a working backup!

forgot to mention, tried that
i might make a vid of the magic undeleteable content of all the ways i have tried, and marvel at the wonders.
I wonder if flashing cm7 and then resetting might help???? As it uses a different file system. Just a thought.
Or maybe flashing eclair jm9 - it's a cure-all for most ills.

i thought this too, as i have seen this as a possible solution to others, as wells as JKT or what its called.
but after an hour of searching i cant find any instructions on how to do it, as every post assumes the OP automatically knows.
i think i'm going to hammer a nail through the screen,

Jm9 can be downloaded from samfirmware.com use pit 512.
Or try flashing cm7 from recovery first.
Worth a bash. I'd be very surprised if jm9 didn't work though.
Try this you will have to sign up but this works link.

i have PIT 512 from a previuos dowload, but JM9 is another story, samfirmware has no firmware, its on sam mobile, but searching on there for JM9 gives no results, all the links in the forums are either 403 or 404 errors.
but i still cant find a how to install JM9, apart from "just flash JM9"

had this problem too, reset as normal, and then once you flashed over to whatever rom you want, go to sd card and phone storage and "format USB storage" pls be sure to hit the "Thanks" button hope i helped
CM7 based roms can be found in dev section. If I have time tomorrow, I'll upload jm9 to my Dropbox if u still need it.

and my phone still retails some programme/app info and some of my personal info
this is even after i have uninstalled them, deleted them etc.
the problem now is the apps are causing major issues.
i'll do a video tomorrow of what i'm doing to prove i'm not being a fcuktard at this.
