Well in the last days I've been having problems uploading things from my sdcard from apps, I thought it was an a2sd issue so I removed my ext3 partition from my sdcard by entering parted and use rm 2, so when I rebooted it showed my previous home screen with the same apps and it said that app wasn't installed on phone so I check my internal storage and it said 11 mb of storage left and that didn't make any sense so then I wiped and formatted my sdcard and rebooted and it said 20 mb left so I enter my downloads from market and see that it says my apps are installed but they don't show on my app tray so I'm guessing that apps are not there but the phone is reading it wrong. So I wiped installed CM 3.9.7 again and now I can't install apps from market or anywhere else
shouldn't this be in the Q&A?
I saw your signature and your running ROM: Cyanogen's MOD (3.9.7)...
Cyanogen warned you NOT TO INSTALL Apps2sd!
Format your sdcard ext partion and then wipe and install Cyanogen's MOD...
Everything will go back to normal

No I didn't use any scripts to activata apps2sd because its automatic, what I'm trying to do is reverse apps2sd so I can install apps on my phone instead of my sdcard I already removed my ext 3 partition
do you have a card reader?

Yes I do have a card reader
If you are running Cyanogen's mod, then I don't believe you'll be able to have your apps on your phone unless you do NOT have an ext 2/3 partition. If your SD card is only Fat32, then the mod won't have any place to move the apps and will leave it on your phone.
Atleast that's how I understood it, if someone who actually knows what they are talking about contradicts me, go with them.

Yeah that's how it is, I had ext3 partition before but I removed it because I was having malfunctions with a lot of different apps so I thought removing the partition would do it but no now I can't install apps.
I want to undo apps2sd I don't want it anymore, I want apps installed on my phone
I would be to reformat your card to just fat32 (I would just do it in windows or ubuntu, I wouldn't run any scripts to do it). Then load up cyanogens rom on your card, wipe, and update. You will have a fresh install and apps should go to your phone and not SD.

ok i'll try doing that, tell you if it works later on
I would also clean out dalvik-cache
rm -r /data/dalvik-cache
I think that's where part of your problem is, don't quote me on that though
In my personal opinion, it's good to rebuild your dalvik-cache everynow and then just to make sure you don't have any junk in there. I suspect that you may have number of things in there since you did not uninstall apps but rather nuked the partition. Who knows... do it, it may help
Good luck

you are definitely the man haha it worked, i can install apps but have 55mbs of free space is that ok?
I've had some trouble with CM 6.1 because I haven't been able to install certain kind of apps; first the restore failed with Titanium Backup, so I tried on the market, but that was unsuccessful too.
What seemed to solve the problem in 6.1 was telling in CM settings to install directly on the phone (CM Settings->Application Settings -> Install location-->Internal).
Now that I've got 6.1.1 the problem is back, and the previouse fix does not work. I can't seem to get back on the phone apps like StumbleUpon and SDMove.
I don't know what the problem is since everything worked in 6.0.
Anyone has any clues?
Thanks in advance
Do you have DarkTremor's apps2SD installed? If not, what always worked for me was to unmount the SD, install the app, remount the SD and then use froyo apps2SD to move it.
I am having the same problem but have DarkTremor's apps2SD and can't unmount the SD so I don't know what to do now.

Unmounting worked!
Well, thanks a lot.
But still, this is really annoying. I mean, I should be able to install without the need to unmount/remount every time!
Yeah it's really annoying now that unmounting isn't a possibility but no one seems to have an answer why this happens in either case.
I suspect it has something to do with the way the app wants to install. One developer I talked to mentioned that apps that want to install directly to SD have this issue and this is why unmounting works, it forces the app to install to internal memory. With DarkTremors though this is no longer possible so I don't know what to do.
All I see are instructions on how to use ADB or to use CWM to flash to the external SD. Is there a way to use CWM ready CM7 for the internal flash?
Hi,
If I understand your question, you would like to run CyanogenMOD7 off the
internal memory also called emmc, rather than running it off the external
memory or uSD card.
Though a bit dated, I found this walk-through to be very detailed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960542&page=16
Hope this is what you are looking for.

It is helpful, however I am looking for a CWM ready version....so far no luck.
Hi,
The instructions in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960542&page=16
Are assuming running from uSD version of CWM.
Following other CWM install instructions you can end up with CWM installed
on the internal flash, emmc.
For example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971197
Minor issue to watch for: the versions of CWM that support EXT4, required
for CM7 also require a different kernel.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by CWM ready version of CM7... the CM7
nightlies are in a .zip file that is flashed by CWM running off the EMMC boot
partition. The first time you install CM7 you also have to use CWM to
reformat some of the partitions on the EMMC (to ext4), but after that you can
use CWM to update the flash each time.
ROMManager can also be used to download ROMS and start CWM.
I am in 'updating' mode, I usually download a recent CM7 nightly and
recent overclock Kernel on PC, then share to Nook using Dropbox.
On Nook, I download .zips from Dropbox and move to root of the data
SD card. I also have latest Google apps (GAPPS) in Dropbox or SD card.
I then use ROMManager to run CWM to backup entire ROM.
Then I use ROMManager to boot into CWM and individually:
Install from .zip: nightlyxxx.zip (Current CM7 version)
Install from .zip GAPPSxxx.zip (Current google apps version)
Install from .zip kernelxxx.zip (Current OC kernel, overwrites the CM7 version)
Then I wipe cache partition.
Then finally wipe dalvik partition - CWM freezes here.
Reboot and wait a while (5 mins) (I assume it is rebuilding dalvik cache here)
Often seem to need another reboot and wait.
Hope this helps...

Thanks, that does clarify things. I'm new at this and do it was a little confusing to me how to do it. In the captivate forum they're a little more forward on how it's done. I appreciate the help. I tried using the rc4 encore signed but it seems to stop at the startup with N color on it. I thought I formatted all the partitions properly. Is there something I did wrong?
Hi,
I haven't had the problem of being stuck at 'N', but I'm sure there are plenty of
others that have... it will be something simple, probably missed one step in install.
Perhaps check through the list you followed and try and remember if you forgot
one step, or didn't understand one of the steps.
My install no longer shows the "N" at all when booting, so I'm guessing that
there is a missing piece somewhere!
I get:
"Touch the Future of Reading"
Brief flash of "Loading"
Few seconds of sideways "android..."
Then an animated CyanogenMOD logo for more seconds.
Here is one (long) thread about booting problems, but there are other ones too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949699
Hope this helps,
Peter
Got the problem fixed. Had to boot to a different CWM and format as ext4. Now all is well.
Speed Comparison
I have CM7 flashed to a class 4 sd card and it seems a little slow compared to the stock elcair build. Does CM7 installed to the internal memory speed things up a bit or does the system still seem a little slow. I'd like to know before I flash to my internal memory.
It should be faster on the internal, logically speaking, but perhaps with the right SD card you'll get comparable speed.
Heyo N1 community,
About to do my first daily driver flash so I'm trying to make sure I'm doing everything right.
Have a quick questions regarding the various Apps2SD choices.
As far as I know, there are market apps designed to get the job done, but as I understand it there are also scripts? And these are smoother in their implementation?
The only one I've seen is the Darktremor A2SD script, which is still a beta and looks like it's been problematic for some.
Are there other options, or is the Darktremor A2SD the only one? If there are other options, is Darktremor's still the best?
Thanks for any and all help fellas.
personal choice although most devs rec what a2sd to use such as
roms like medroid ics are built in
i use dt beta4 on cm7 roms with zero issues
Used S2E for like a year or so with no issues. Has a useful GUI too.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Awesome thanks for the advice and info fellas. gonna check these bad boys out right now.
Do u guys know if a2sd works with miui still? It used to work for me but then I updated to a newer version (currently on 1.12.16, I know its old now but after my a2sd failed to work and my nandroid backup didn't restore properly I just quit updating). Just wondering if they fixed a2sd in the later versions or not, if so I will flash that. Thanks
haven't ran it for awhile, but not aware it won't, maybe other issues on your flash
redo sdcard and ext and try
start a thread and ask on forum, someone will inform you

I've tried to use Dt beta4 many times, but it seems to do nothing. I install a new rom with a fresh ext4 partition, and I set up my phone, and then I go back into recovery and flash the .zip for Dt beta4. It successfully installs, but when i check my internal storage, it still shows up as 200mb or so, and apps continue to be installed on internal storage. Where am I going wrong?
In terminal, type:
su
a2sd reinstall
a2sd cachesd
Have you done it?

+1 for curiosity's sake
I use IA2SD script.
I'm on MiUI 2.3.2 ROM which has A2SD enabled with it. Though Dark Tremors seems to be a popular one from what I've seen on these forums.
What's going on with this thing? It crashes every time I try to move an app to the SD card using the native Android apps2sd. It wasn't a problem before I unlocked it. Everything was just fine.
I have partitioned the SD card from Clockwork recovery, reformatted, etc. all to no avail. Is there another step that I've missed? Link2SD won't work, either.
It's CM 7.1.
Try 4EXT instead of CWM recovery. It seems to be the freshest most powerful choice out there. I used to have that problem all the time with CM. For me the best was using blackrose to change to HBoot, then flashing QND MIUI mod and partitioning with 4EXT. Followed by the latest kernel they recommend I know there are lots out there but I wished someone would have told me that before I invested a zillion hours screwing around with CM.
Your choice
I have had this happen to me with only a few applications, never all though. Did you try to force applications to install to sdcard as a fix?
Set from my Nexus One using xda premium
do you have your default install location set to internal
and since you have CM try dark tremor beta 4 for moving apps. review their thread on this subforum and learn what scripts to run after flashing the zip
+1 on 4ext, I have it now--great themes--but amon_ra 2.2.1 has worked flawlessly for me also
