Seems like some russians (Quarx from 4pda.ru) have released first Unnoficial GT540 2.1 Rom, anyone brave enough to try it out ?
Differences in comparison with the original firmware:
Notification bar is black instead of white. Icons are also substituted.
The revised boot screen "Android"
Added search for voice / speech recognition.
Optimization of all uploaded applications
Added Root + Root Busybox and Explorer.
The manufacturer's software only is LgMail
Aperantly to install this, you will need to have Official Russian 2.1 rom, since it have fastboot.

yea I spotted that on the polish site yesterday. Ive been trying to put it into my gt540 but the only problem is I just cant get USB drivers to install fastboot. Whats up with that??? ADB works with no problems. Or is there something else you have to do while in fastboot mode other than connect the usb cable to the phone.... Any help would be appreciated.

1. you must download here and extract to C:\usb_driverxx
2.if your phone using a eclair + fastboot then you must switch off your phone.
3. when your phone is OFF, press Volume UP + Search Button and Plug in USB cable to Phone.
4.When phone scree show "Fastboot mod" and your computer cannot have a driver for your phone. Go to Device Manager (Right Click on My Computer Icon, and select Manage, and looking for Device manager)
5.Open Menu Universal serial bus controller (in the right screen on the device manager). and expand all and select unknown USB bla..bla.. and right click and update drive. select the driver to C:\usb_driverxx.
FINISH for detect your phone in the fastboot mode.

1. There are no bugs found yet.
2. There is only stock android launcher installed.
3. The phone is rooted from the start with Superuser.apk installed.
4. The updates are planned. On 4PDA Quarx wrote (from translator):

With polish it is only partial. So i guess for german it will be the same.

You need to CID unlock. You can use the automated tool I made. Check this forum to find it.
btw, Hikey, nice job on the rom port! One question, how did you edit the build to include Hikey.NET v7.1? I've always wondered how to do that.
Everything is working now, except input which mis-match the keypad. Any solutions for this?

The input method is named "PlumSIP", it is for chinese user only.
if you are english user, you should install et9 for shadow.
Thanks, it works, but one problem thos, it seens dopod c750 has different keypad layout to shadow, which make it so hard to input text.

I packed it.
Really like this ROM. I think the only issue is on the input method. If there is a working t9 english solution, and can switch between Chinese, ABC, T9, number, then the ROM is going to be perfect.

Anyway to view in English?? I'm still VERY new to all this! I work for Sprint but I have the Shaddow and I very badly want WM6.1 on my phone, but being this is the first time I've ever tried to install anything on my phone I want to do it right. I appreciate ur patience in this.
The camera works fine. MMS I do not use and have never tried. But regular text message works fine too. And it can display English.
Regarding input method, I found a trick, the Rom actually already have Pinyin, Bihua, T9English, number and chars input.
The problem preventing it was that the * key will lock the phone instead of switching input method.
But if you install the language pack below, the *key will be reassigned to allow switching input method. (The language pack itself will NOT become the selection, only the key becomes switching the original input method.

I installed an old version of Kies i found because for some reason the new one wouldnt install. i havent manually updated it, or accepted any notice for updating as far as im aware, but it says i now have the latest version..
anyway, how do i get this into Test Mode? ctrl + alt + u + p i read is the combination, but this doesnt do anything?
Start the firmware update, when the dialog has opened press CTRL + ALT + U + P.

You are clicking on the kies menu option the choosing update? If so... it's wrong! Down on the bottom right of the kies window is a little mobile firmware update icon click that !!
What you are doing is checking the firmware for the kies program itself I think.... common mistake made by many!

im in the device firmware upgrade window, that butto combination just doesnt work, can someone thats done it on the latest Kies firmware tell me if it actually works anymore?
EDIT: ive just uninstalled, and installed this version that i found Kies_1.5.0.10024_74. nothing happens, can someone show me an SS of whats supposed to happen?

I am also having problems with CTRL+ALT+U+P. When I go to firmware update, I get prompted to backup of contacts, which I do. Then I get a screen saying I have the lastest firmware. The key combo does not work here. Tried it on all the previous screen leading up to this one and it still does nothing.

In my registry there's no "FUS_TEST". After "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung" i only have Kies folder...
I've installed the lastest version of Kies (1.5.3.10103_100).
Can somebody post direc link to this newest version since my doesnt want to update :-/ It is contantly saying that it cannot connet to internet and I am connected and surfing.

I'm afraid not. I don't know how to obtain firmware upgrades either - it tells me to click on the device and go to the "general" tab - can't find the *?&%# thing!
Get Check Fus Downloader to enable TestMode in Kies. It's still experimental so please report in the thread. If you want to do it manually you can try this registry entry:

You dont have to root your phone for any of those two methods.
THE LATEST ROM IS THE ONE FROM THE FIRST METHOD OF FLASHING!
You will need: -A WINDOWS XP,VISTA,SEVEN machine
-NET COMPACT FRAMEWORK 2.0
-USB CABLE AND THE S5570 ,doh!
First Method(4 files mode) ANDROID 2.3.6 updated 05.05.2012
1) Download this version of Odin from HERE
2) Download and install KIES from HERE (if u allready got Kies pass this step),we need KIES for the latest USB drivers
3) Download the firmware from HERE extract it
4) Download OPS file from HERE
5) Make shure that your phone is 70% charged
6) Turn off your phone
7) Now enter ODIN,you will something like this

10) Enter Downloading Mode,press VOLUM DOWN ,OK BUTTON, POWER BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME!
11) Connect the USB cable,now in Odin at COM PORT MAPPING is should appeare the USB cable as connected(COM1,COM2 etc)
12) Now make shure the in ODIN the only boxes that are checked are AUTO REBOOT , RESET TIME and PROTECT OPS after you have checked press START,now u have to wait 5-6min.
13) It must say above the COM connection PASS on a blue backgroud to disconnect the USB cable and u are done.!!EVEN IF THE PHONE BOOTS UP DON'T DISCONNECT THE USB CABLE,WAIT FOR THE PASS SCREEN!!
METHOD 2(1 file MODE) ANDROID 2.3.6 Updated 09.02.2012
1) I guess now u got ODIN and KIES(look in the post above),and your phone haves 70% battery
2) Turn off your phone
2) Now we gonna download the 2.3.6 firmware from HERE and extract it.
3) Then we download the OPS from BENI OPS (ATTENTION! IF IS NOT WORKING WITH BENI OPS USE TASS OPS) we gonna load the file and we have to check the option ONE PACKAGE then we click the ONE PACKAGE button below and select the file from the folder that we just downloaded/extracted SS5570XWKTZ_S5570XWKT9_S5570OXFKT5_RST_HOME.tar.md5,the only options that should be checked are ONE PACKAGE,RESET TIME,AUTO REBOOT,PROTECT OPS
4) DO A FACTORY RESET,DONT FORGET!!! AND REMOVE DE SD CARD (you must do this to avoid errors,but isnt a Must )
5) Enter Downloading mode,explained above is the 1st method,connect the USB cable,and wait for ODIN to connect to your phone COM port(see above),press START button.
6) Wait 5min..wait for the PASS screen (like above),disconnect the USB and you are all done.

The second method comes with an updated firmware version ,and the first one is an older version... bouth are "save".Save as in, if you respect the steps if you dont you may BRICK YOUR PHONE.I'd tested the first and the second method with succes!

some guys are telling me that next month we'll get 2.3.5
Installed using One package method using the latest firmware. Worked fine, no problems whatsoever. As a reference it lasted 5:17 in ODIN. If you do factory reset after update, default language is Russian, but English and many more are included.

I flash cwm,but it seems that it will be removed after restart.......I have to install it through offcial recovery before use
From what I understand,you are now running ICS...can you make a backup with CWM and upload it to us ? I think this way,people who don't live in china can use it too..Worth a try.

waiting for your ICS Custom ROM & Kernel ~
I had flash the room too. Got a loop boot, but not same as u.
When I flashed and boot at first time, It worked OK.
But if I remove battery or do a cold reboot, It went into loop boot at first S screen.

yes,I am now running ICS.
But I don't think this will works,because not only the ROM changes,but also the modem,PIT,CSC and partition
so if you only restore ROM,it may not works

That's just a misconception caused by some pictures floating around that was made with a screenshot software that put a different casing on the phone. All the Chinese I9100G variants have the same button layout as all the others around the world.

I got boot loop,just removed battery(bad for phones?),and then turn on the phone,and it works well

It's bull****. Some site posted that wrong info earlier and many people took the info without checking if it was true and posted it on various sites. ICS has not been released in any countries yet though.

Hi, wondering if anyone can help here,
I just purchased an A7000 from Ebay, it came with a Chinese ROM, (I am in New Zealand)
I downloaded and installed SP Flash, some USB drivers, then downloaded and ran the official ROW ROM -
S136_150519_ROW_(by XDAFIRMWARE.COM)
running it through SP Flash Tools
when first trying Download I got a message saying "PMT changed for the rom it must be downloaded" I saw a tutorial online showing to run a manual format, then try again, which I did, and it all seemed to work, but all the phone does now is have a grey screen, with darker grey vertical lines...
since then I have tried several different custom ROM's, and also trying the ROW ROM again, but it still just has a grey screen when powering on...
any help would be much appreciated, thanks
Just to add to this, it actually just vibrates once when I turn the phone on, the screen stays black, only when I tether it to the PC the screen comes on as grey...

You have to modify the setting of spflashtool.
Run the spflashtool then go to “Option” tab, go to “Download”, and put a “tick” in the “DA DL All with Checksum.Then Flash the Rom as u are flashing

Hi Prashant, thanks so much for the reply, I had given up and taken the phones (I have two), to the shop, but they kept them for a few days then said they could not fix them.
I found this post on Youtube, and it has worked - both phones are now operating again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TySRc_DkcFk although the ROM came with no database files to install my IMEI numbers.
It still has Chinese writing in some places in the phone, and some apps I can't remove,
Can you recommend a ROM that is stable and suitable for this phone, installing using SP Flash Tools ?

I tried this Marshmallow ROM, but it just sent it back to grey screen, I think it may be a fake Lenovo ?
I fixed it again by flashing the ROM as per the other post.... not sure what to do, I would like to get rid of the Chinese writing and apps, also, it is only working on 4G connectivity, not 3G...
no, it's no fake Lenovo.. I think your Lenovo is A7000 PLUS/K3 Note not A7000. Maybe u can tried K3 Note ROM.
cause i have same problem with u. and i tried to use ROM k3 Note..andit's work.

After successful flash go to IMEI.info on your browser and confirm your phone if u had any doubt.

Please anyone help me with this. I tried everything I could. But nothing works. I tried to flash every stock rom for LENOVO A7000 a. But the result is same. I also checked da check sum. I also want to know that if it is hardware or software problem. Please help me.
