[Q] How to go back to stock firmware ? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi can someone explain how i can revert back to my original firmware which was on the phone before i flashed it with jpk , so will be able to use the official froyo upgrade when it is released , i have a samsung i9000 with froyo i9000xxjpk. thanks in advance !

1. WHATEVER the rom you currently have, it WON'T affect your upgrade to ANY other rom (e.g. official froyo)
2. you need to know what rom you HAD, before do the reverse to the "original".
3. reverse procedure is the SAME as upgrade, its just flash another rom.
4. WRONG section for this post.

thank you for your help , sorry i posted this in wrong section but which section shoiuld i have posted it in ?

The Q&A section (which I've moved it to now for you). Please read the sticky post at the top of these sections titled "STOP!! Before you post read this NOW!!", which has guidelines for proper thread posting and placement.

Anyone? Please help me
You are being ignored because at least three obvious reasons...
okay... well i know why samsung removed the froyo from kies
here go to this thread and read for the information on updating your phones firmware should you have missed it on the main page for SGS Dev's.

Posting in the wrong forum does not help you get an answer.. this is DEVELOPMENT!!
JM1 is the stock Eclair firmware.
Moved to Q&A as not development.
@OP, there's no need to bump your thread. If you don't get an answer, consider if you posted in the wrong place or did something wrong. Did you read all the stickies and wiki pages etc?

Why no Sticky? Need help rooting my phone

Hi There!
I believe that in order to load these ROMs in this thread, you need to "root" the phone, but I don't see a sticky that explains how to do it?
Also is it like with Windows Mobile phones that you need a separate radio rom to the OS ROM?
Thanks in advance for any advice?
I take it the official update for Froyo for the i9000 isn't released yet? Is this something that happens automatically over the air or you need to initiate it?
Why so sucky thread title?
What do you mean? No roms in this thread ;p
Btw most ROMs in this subforum are already rooted and while ur current ROM is overwritten (being either rooted or not) in the flashing process... Ur device becomes rooted after flashing most of them. For more detailed information go to ROM's threads.
Root is kernel-related thing, so I dont get ur point.

Hi There!
I may be using the wrong terminology, I am looking for flash proedures for the ROM's in this forum. I thought the process of applying those roms required you to root the phone before use (like hardspl for winmo roms).
I am looking for the step by step guide to applying the ROMS's listed here?
Refer to each rom's thread.
Full stock leaked firmwares come in .tar packages, flashed by Odin.
Mods and custom roms might be flashed by Odin, or update.zip method.
I believe there was some BIG FAT FAQ in this subforum?
// oh its in general : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
You forgot to read the stickies... There's this one: STOP!! Before You Post, Read This NOW!! and in that you see this:
General - general technical discussion items, news, anything else that does not fit into the other fora categories.
Q&A (Questions and Answers) - all questions, irrespective of type, get posted in here whether they be theme related, accessory related, technical, etc.
Accessories - any items to do with components and/or accessories relating to your device.
Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
Themes & Apps - anything to do directly with the development of themes and/or applications. Nothing else goes in here.

Now you see the general section? If you go there you'll find this sticky: [REF] BIG FAQ! {Flash/Root HOWTO} {ADB&Tutorials} {T&T} {FW-Guide} [MUST READ!] Which has everything you need.
Thanks. To be honest it makes no sense to me to have something about flashing ROMS in the general forum, at a minimum I think it should be in both places.

[Q] Android 2.3.3 for the Tab

As I own a Galaxy Tab with Android 2.2 I would like to change to Android 2.3.3
The Basband version in use is: P1000DXJJ2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 root(at)SE-S604 #1
Build number: FROYO.DXJK2
Now my question is: could I just manual upgrade to version 2.3.3 which I had downloaded, in total 4 files:
P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJQ1_P1q000XXJPZ.zip
dbdata.zip
gt-p1000_mr_PIT.zip
ODIN3 v1.83.exe
Could someone please tell me it's ok to use that files or, if not, point me in the right direction.
Thank you so much for any answer.
This rom is for european galaxy tab, but I think you can flash it on an asian version of the tab. Look at the development section for this rom.

Can I ask two questions...
(a) Where did you get the download from and (b) have you installed the ROM and how did it go?

To your question:
a: androidtotal. com/manually-install-update-samsung-galaxy-tab-to-android-2.3.3-gingerbread/
b: I asked my question in the OP before I try to install!
I do NOT like to brick my Tab with an unsupported Rom! That's why I ask upfront the Rom could be used on my Asian Tab or not.

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunate, I couldn't post in the Dev section right now because of my post count.
As my Tab is an unlocked Tab with Quadband and 3G (900/1900/2100 MHz) I hope that everything will works with the Europe version, I just want to be sure not to brick the device!

You shouldn't have been posting in the dev section anyway, that is for posting of dev projects/reference.

No, you are wrong. We have a Q&A forum, try using some common sense. Do you honestly think that its sane to allow questions or other type of topics to be created in the dev section? It would just lead to a complete un-organized mess and browsing the dev section would be a pain in the arse.

First at all: The Q&A forum haven't gave an answer within a week or more! Do you really think that's OK?
Secondly: My question were for the Gingerbread Version (Overcome Beta) which is running in the Dev forum and therefore I really do believe that those forum were the right place for to ask questions about that specific version.
After NOT getting an answer in the Q&A forum, I done more researches and found the Samsung Stock Rom (NOT on this forum) and was asking my final question in the Samsung Galaxy Tab General forum.
My remark about the min. post count for to be able to post in the dev forum were just that: A REMARK.
Last but not least, this is a public forum and as long as I stay to the rules, I could post as I like and as it is allowed! There only the forum staff, means Admin's and Moderators who have the right to limit a action or posting ability of an 'normal' user and those will be done in case of an breach of the rules only.
I'm Administrator on one Board and Global Moderator on an other Board and believe me or not, I know what I'm talking about.
If you think that my post('s) are inappropriate, please feel free to report my post to the forum staff.
Have a nice day.

And YES, it works!
I updated the last night from 2.2 t0 2.3.3 and everything is fine now. It's quite a bit of improvement compare to Froyo.
Thanks for the info.
Hey pcinfo1, I'm searching around the forum, we are on the same stock ROM.
I like to know if its ok for me to flash to Overcome ROM v3.1.0-KRATOS???
Thanks!
Ok to flash overcome rom ONLY if you update to stock gingerbread 1st. You need the gb bootloaders installed otherwise you will end up with your tab hanging on the samsung logo. Thankfully overcome has the safe stock gb rom v5 that has the gingerbread bootloaders. All you need to do is find the modem.bin file for your region/carrier and you're set.

Hii, thanks for the reply mate. how do i find modem.bin file for my region/carrier?
I'm from Singapore and it should be considered as Asian set right? Thanks!

The reason there are no answers given sometimes is because the questions are so weak, or have been asked and answered soo many times.
If you post a question that doesn't get answered within a day (not within 30 minutes like some people expect), rethink your question.
Posts that have "Hi guys, I'm new" or "Help, I've bricked my tab" for titles tend to get passed over.

[Q] [QUESTION] using custom roms

hi guys. heres my question. -- if i use a custom rom for my SGA , How long can i use the rom i installed? can i use it for a long time as long as it has no bugs like stock roms? even if theres an update on the rom i used , do i have to install the update?
First thing i would like to tell you that you can use any ROM for as much time as you want.If you are on a ROM which is bugless and better than stock so there is no problem in being on it.
Nextly as it goes for updates if your ROM support OTA updates then you can easily update it as on Stock but don't install updates from the Manufacturer untill not on Stock.
Abd installing updates depends totally on you if want you can if you dont its up to you.
Hit THANKS if Helped :good:
1. You can use it as long as you would
2. Some of custom rom have a view bugs, or the ui doesn't fit you. I think you should carefully choose your cusrom.
3. Usually rom update bring the good changes, or you can see the changelog first.
To avoid unwanted answers, i think you should use the Q&A thread.
