can anyone help me and tell me why i cant upgrade to jm1 and then to the official froyo from that and a possible solution if you have one please

Did you have any lagfix installed by any chance? If yes, did you remove it before attempting to upgrade to Froyo?

[Q] Downgrade to 2.1?

Is it possible to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1? I upgraded to 2.2 yesterday and now the phone is very sluggish. In 2.1 Launcher Pro was smooth as a baby's bottom and now it's not.
After the upgrade I did a factory reset, which I've read would solve a lot of problems.
Same problem
I am looking for the same solution.
Since I upgraded my galaxy s to 2.2 using odin3 I've got a lot of problems on the phone now. The Swype doesn't work Internet keeps crashing and the operating system crashes too. Google voice speak is also not working.
I've heard the only option is to re flash it but I don't know how to reflash or downgrade it to 2.1
Please let us know. My basement got changed to jp1 after Odin3
Most problem is old settings from 2.1.
The easiest way is to do a factory reset. Wipe the catch and format the internal sdcard.
If that works you can put back your app. Don't restor any old settings.
The other way is to make sure the phone is clean and flash latest firmware with odin.

[Q] unrooting and flashing new rom

So, basically, i got my galaxy s today... quickly tried some stuff, and i pretty much like it so far. But i do have some questions about unrooting and flashing.
1. Its currently branded and its eclair 2.1, should i flash an official generic froyo, or some custom rom like doc froyo 7.6.2?
2. If i were to root my phone, would i need to unroot it before flashing new rom? If so how would i do it (is factory reset enough or not)?
3. Which lagfix should i use after updating to froyo, that would be pretty easy to use and not cause data corruption or something like that?
Thanks.
no need unrooting since flashing will probably erase everything (os data) : )
just make sure to remove or disable lagfix bfore flash.
i tried flashing froyo jpo 2 days ago and forgot i have voodoo lagfix.
i had to factory reset(app data) bfore my phone booted : (
First if you move to froyo from eclair then you should do a factory reset, wipe the cache and format the internal sdcard. Do a backup before you do it.
Then you install all apps you want.
do not use any old data/settings.
They will corrupt your system.
Z4mod is a safe and good system to use for lagfix.

Thanks.
I flashed to:
PDA: XWJPA
PHONE: XXJPP
CSC: XEEJP4
This release isn't some sort of a beta, or a leak? I'm really all new to this, and just want to make sure i chose a right release.
It seems to be the right one.

Its not good idea to flash sgs by stock firmware. Use last froyo from samfirmwares. You can flash your phone sevral times using various firmwares until you'll get it working.
i just flashed my kernel to CF-Root... now i got bootloop evrytime i open wifi connection.
i am forced to factory reset in CWM 3.
what i want now is to restore my previous kernel which is the stock kernel for Gingerbread 2.3.3 DXJV9.
please help me how to flashed back to stock kernel.

[Q] Froyo to Gingerbread 2.3.3

Iam from Germany and iam using the german Kies! But i have installed trough spooffw and UK Version of GIngerbread 2.3.3 because in Germany the GIngerbread Update trough Kies wsa not available. But today it started i saw in the internet. So i need to get back to Stock german Froyo so that the german Kies indentify it and update it but which is this stock german Froyo 2.2 Rom?
Thank your very much for you considerations
Flash back to your stock Eclair 2.1 (Choose the right file depending on your region go to this website samfirware.com), and then upgrade via Kies.
Ok i will test it hopefully i get the right Rom from samfirmware.com
Rooting Gingerbread on my SGS
Hello folks,
first of all I really appreciate the work you put in here to satisfy the community with all the helpful apps and stuff. TY!
Well, it came to the point that I used Kies to update my Germanish SGS i9000 (O²) and the only thing I miss now is the root access to get rid of some really unwanted and memory eating apps.
I used SuperOneClick on Froyo and earlier versions which worked great but seems this is not working on 2.3.3 anymore. Well, I was reading the guide on how to install this CF Kernel but I got scared because others seems to have some reboot issues after doing so. I have to admit that I really don't have much clue about all the Odin pushes and Kernel stuff, and the more I try to understand, the more I get confused (I might blame it only on my age tho^^).
Is there anyone out here that could just guide me to the right CF download for my SGS? That would really help me alot.
Another question would be, after changing the Kernel, can this mess up upgrading to a newer firmware in the future? Do I have to install the original kernel before?
Model: GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.3.3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVI-CL210427
I downloaded an Eclair Rom from Samfirmware.com but i cant flash it on my sgs i9000 so i decided to flash an Gingerbread 2.3.3 JVO from samfirmware. IS that an official Gingerbread or an customized?
If you want to root under Gingerbread you need to flash another Kernel e.g from Supercurio. Get ODin 1.3 and search in development section for an Kernel and flash it then you ahev superuser rights
