I have read that the Galaxy S update is released on Kies for Norway, Sweeden does this include Generic ROM for UK ??
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy although there is no branding on the case the ROM boots with t-mobile screens.
Is there a way I can get Kies to update it by fooling it into thinking its an unbranded phone? (This is providing the newly anounced update wil work in the UK in the right language??)
If you do the registry hack you should be able to see this firmware on Kies. Have a look at the JP6 on Kies thread
Not sure I understand it all which is strange as I messed around with my hero all the time. Will the stock update work in the uk on t mobile ?

Since I'd rather not spend time with Odin (kinda chicken!?) I'd rather only update the firmware using what Kies provides...and here is the issue..
The last available firmware through Kies is the 2.2 dating back to october...have any other Norwegian Telenor customers been able to get newer firmwares using Kies...or must I do what so many others do and go for Odin if I'd like the latest versions?
Im returning my sgs due to the faulty gps and exchange support.
I have a nordic generic sgs. And the latest fw is the onw from october. Were told by a samsung rep that a new release were due at xmas. But havent seen it yet. If you are going to flash through odin. I would recommend Darkys ROM.

Last I heard, from a swedish forum, was that the nordic version will be released before march.
So we should expect it in january-february.

i live in the uk and my samsung kies program itself updated, the offered me a firware update to 2.2.1 after this, but no before. apparently, looking at a list of the available types the t-mobile uk 2.2.1 isnt out yet, so i dont know where mine came from, i think the thing i looked at tld me it was a portuguese version. very odd, especially as my phone jst came back from samsung repair and they said the had reflashed 2.2 onto it
Hi, it's my tab cant upgrade to gingerbread? Even the when the official firmware available in malaysia?
Coz my fren using galaxy ace, is show diff from me
"This version of device is the latest version"
Mine
"This version of device cannot be updated"
Current firmware version: PDA:KM3 / PHONE:KM1 / CSC:KM2 (XME)
Thanks!
You have to manually flash gingerbread. It may not officially be available in your country yet, but you can still get gingerbread. Search tab development thread for gingerbread rom.
Hit thanks if i have helped.

Thanks.
But I'm confused tat, if when my country available the firmware update, i still cant upgrade it?
I'm scared tat i cant upgrade the official firmware, cos mine still under warranty so plan to upgrade the official if can.
I get the info from some others chinese forum, some of the version cannot be upgrade to gingerbread. It's true?
The case may be that the country/region server does not yet recognize the
current firmware version (PDA:KM3 / PHONE:KM1 / CSC:KM2 (XME)) that you have. i also get that notice when i tried KM3_KM1_KM2 on my tab. i'm from the philippines and as per experience the only firmware that my kies recognizes for is the one that came with my tab when i bought it which is p1000dxjk2.
hopefully, when they "officially" roll it out for SE Asia, we will be able to update through kies. but for now i'm enjoying the stock gingerbread + CF-Root by chainfire.
i brought galaxy s two months back from uae.I live in India.Since android market is not available i changed the xsg settings and made it to international setting..Now am not able to upgrade the phone frm froyo.plz help me…
what method are you using in your attempt to upgrade from froyo? KIES or odin?
Was it cheaper in uae? use odin to flash latest rom, guides are in general section.

i made a mistake buying from uae...finally i ended up paying the same amount as in india a got a phone without android market.
after reading some thread ,i changed my factory setting to international market.now android market works fine. But am not able to update even to froyo 2.2 from eclair.!!
Why?
You could download a Gingerbread-firmware (must contain bootloader!!) and flash with Odin.

So this means if i used this method (change to xsg) i wont receive any official updates on galaxy s through kies???

You can go to sammobile.com site and look in the firmware section to see if there are any available updates.
If the phone is not network locked, it does not matter which rom you flash. You can go ahead with he latest one ex. LTA.
Then download the firmware and flash using odin.
1st been there and only lt9 which is voda cpw and orange not o2 2nd not network locked to o2 i have flashed many custom roms in past just got fed up of incompatability issues or other probs with custom roms not saying there bad as there not just my experiance of said roms led me back to stock i honestly thought that o2 should of had bug fix update by now all the other uk networks have as stated earlier my sg2 which is o2 also has had four updats since its jelly bean release and it has no issues but my note got jelly bean near begining of year and since nothing at all ive tried kies no update availiable same when check over air latest update installed

Then you should be able to manually update to LTA.. though there is not much of a difference between LT9 & LTA. Does not matter it its from UK or any other region.
The thing is i honestly dont want to flash my phone again ive managed to run stock since official release and its been a bit slow from time to time but to be honest i have had no bootloops or freezes or incompatiable issues apart from that group thing with wifes s4 but thats the s4 as its fine with s2 i have tried hard not to flash again and its not easy with lt9 and lta about but i thank you for your reply
