Scrolling Wallpaper Dock
This is a repost from here as it is not HTC Desire specific. Everything should work on any phone with 800*480 resolution.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Concept
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been experimenting with what I believe to be a unique use for the scrolling wallpaper. If using LP with 6 homescreens your wallpaper scrolls exactly one dock icon (1/5th of the screen).
I started playing around with using this as a screen indicator and dock icons to jump between homescreens using LPP Shortcuts. Shortcuts to all 6 screens are attached. I found you could effectively use the scrolling effect of the wallpaper in place of a screen indicator (although it goes the wrong way).
It takes a bit of playing around with the wallpaper to get it 100%. I've included a .PSD of one of my files, however the others aren't really in an up-loadable state. I've included all the scrollable wallpapers I've made as well.
I hope you get some fun out of this - If you do make something interesting and unique please post here to share it with everyone else!

Tutorial
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've had a few people wanting a tutorial on how to get the rainbow wallpaper set-up. Please keep comments and question in this thread, I would rather have questions answered publicly so they only have to be answered once.
The white bar is my own and is only available for OpenDesire, the rest of this theme requires the following and should work on any rom;

Wow! Do you know if the same thing is possible with only 3 or 4 homescreens? Or is this unique to 6?

You need 6 to get it to scroll evenly. The way the wallpaper scrolls means that screen 1 and the last screen are at the far ends of the wallpaper and then each scroll is an equal division of the wallpaper. With 5 evenly spaced icons you need 6 screens. If the icons were evenly spread out and there were only 3 then it could work with 4 home-screens.
Alternately you could use 2 home-screens and have half a wallpaper on the other side.I was thinking of doing a heaven and hell theme with screen 1 light and white and screen 2 red and black. But haven't had time.
Hi, I really like your theme but I have no clue how to make the .lps files the shortcut.
EDIT: nvm, i found it. Had to place in sd card under folder called "downloads" then pick launcher pro shortcuts. Thanks for the theme

It's pretty dodgy cos I've got a crap camera. But here you go!
Wow, that's awesome, thanks for the video!
May I have but one request? I don't play a lot of games on my phone, but I use multiple social networking apps, is it possible to change the "games" tab to say "social"? And if there is a way that the user could do it, I'm all ears.
Love this idea and will be applying it to my set up when I figure out my request =P
EDIT: sorry, didn't open all the files, going to mess with some icon packs
Been playing around with this today, I couldn't figure out what it meant in the tutorial about the screen_6.lps? I'm assuming that if you apply that shortcut and hit it another screen it takes you too that screen, I just don't know how to apply it. Is that only in Launcher Pro paid version?
Have you had any luck on that Polaroid picture wallpaper, that's the best one out of all of them.
im about to make my own based off your black one ill post it when im done
heres my first attempt
it works pretty well on my vibrant

i know you said that the polaroid scroller (Probably a while away), but it would be nice to have. great write up and work. thanks.
This looks... awesome! Can't wait to get home and take a deeper look.
cant you upload the /sdcard/launcherpro_backup for us so we can just upload it and do what we like to tweak? It'd be a hell of a lot easier...
The game icons, angry birds, etc etc, can i get the pack? you editing them yourself? I checked the credits for the icons of eclipse, wasn't them.
do you have a link for those icons?

for the proper functioning is necessary not to use the option to hide the taskbar when used causes Racked
but of course wonderful concept!
Nicely done and thanks for the guide
nice style newone.
Question: Do you plan on making more icons like this? Like for Gmail, and certain apps, like a aldiko(or just called book reader) or Market, Camera, contacts or voicemail? If you made a icon pack like this im sure people would donate!
Just wondering Thanks!
looks grate on my phonee thanks for the idea.
One more thing newone757... Is there any way you could put these up as png? The jpeg compression kind of messes up the clean look going on here (on my phone at least). If so it would be much appreciated.
This is really awesome, just needed the icon sizes...I'll be going to make my own icons like this. Thanks for your inspiration and originality

I am thinking about donating already, but if you were to make more icons I would be obligated to donate for the hard work.
Once again, appreciate the work you've put into this. I fav'd this on DA.
Edit: PNG's would be nice as i'm noticing a lot of jpeg compression.

What do your other screens look like??
Could you please tell me what did you used for the icons?

This is based off of the method of the Android Phone 7 Theme, but slightly different and made specifically for us Aria users, since we get no love. This will make your Aria look like a beautiful combination of Gingerbread and Windows Phone 7. There are twenty-six icons that are a combination of green, orange, and pictures in both sizes 1x2 and 3x1. You do not need to purchase Launcher Pro Plus to do this theme, they fit perfectly in Go Launcher without resizing, and you can change the dock, which is also included.
Icons included:

Bank
Browser
Camera

I did not create the idea of Android Phone 7, this is only a port for us Aria users with new icons and a simplistic zip file that has everything you need in it. Here are screenshots:

Here's how you do it:
1. Download Go Launcher, Desktop Visualizer, and Minimalist Text.
2. Unzip the Aria Phone 7 file on your computer, and transfer the files to an SD card.
3. Launch Go Launcher and add a widget by long-pressing, then click Desktop Visualizer 1x2.
4. In Desktop Visualizer, select the 1x2 icon you would like to use, then link that icon to the application using the app, clear the text, and launch the widget.
5. Do the same process as many times as necessary until you have filled up as many homescreens as you'd like to use.
6. To change the dock, click Menu>Preferences>Dock Settings and check Customized Background, then click Select Dock Background.
7. Find the dock included in the zip file and select it.
8. Now go back to your homescreens and by long pressing on dock items, get rid of them all except for the app launcher. Long-press the app launcher icon and click Choose Icon, then choose the transparent.png file that is included.
9. Now that your dock is done, for the widgets on top, use Minimalist Text and tweak the app to your liking.
10. The last thing you need to do is change your background to the HTC black wallpaper, and ta-da, you are all done. Easy, huh?
Included in this zip are templates, 1x2 and 3x1 icons, the dock, and the transparent PNGs as well as a document detailing the colors & fonts used. All files are PNGs.

Thanks man. The only thing I don't like is how the dock turned out, very pixelated. Hmmmm.
Awesome!! Thanks a lot! I love the look of the Win 7 mobile, but really dislike the phones. This is so cool DLing now!
EDIT: I only have one issue; how do I get rid of the extra space used for the touch effect? This makes the home screen not uniform. :/
EDIT 2:I fixed it by setting it to 5x4
Yeah, that is what the dimensions are supposed to be, I think, haha. Thank you, though!

2) Open eclipse. Create new project. Select 'Android Project From Existing Code' and select this project.
3) Change package name of project to a unique name - it can be [?].[?].[yourname].[skinname]. ? can be any word. You have to open AndroidManifest.xml and change package name there.
4) Replace your clock images in the raw folder.
5) Change app icons.
6) Provide app name.
7) Export project and upload here and/or Google play.
Note: The images for the clock are pivoted at the centre. See the images in the project.

Hi. I didn't understand this. Maybe 'coz I haven't used wallpapyrus that much other than applying the wallpapers with it a few times.
So, when we apply wallpaper with wallpapyrus now, it'll also add a clock widget on the homescreen? Where exactly the analog clock fits in in wallpaper app?? sorry for my silly question if it is silly.

Maybe the clock is a part of the wallpaper and will stay with it.. I don't get it. Please explain Vin.
There is a request (most by Niteowl) to implement the second hand in UCCW. Well UCCW is a widget, so its not feasible in a customization app (may be as a stand alone widget).
This is one solution for second hand in clock - Live wallpaper. So I made it as a weekend project.
Currently its only available in Wallpapyrus pro.

So, this eclipse project will create analog clocks with seconds hand. Is this flow of events -
User already has a wallpaper1 applied.
User long presses homescreen
Wallpaper > wallpapyrus.
There'll be a new option in the 'select from' window which will list all the analog clocks?
User selects the clock and it'll be applied as a live wallpaper with the wallpaper1 as background?

Wallpapyrus is replacement for default android wallpaper app. Default wallpaper app forces you to crop images while setting wallpaper - Wallpapyrus doesn't. Just choose Wallpapyrus where you would choose wallpaper while setting wallpapers. Try the free Wallpapyrus app.
Wallpapyrus pro has option to show clocks in settings. User will select the clock there after installing clock skin.

Apks need to be installed then applied, other templates will need to be placed in your LL folder which is auto generated by the app.
Once there all that's needed is to go to the apply option and choose the desired template, accept the launcher to create widgets etc when promted.
!! PLEASE NOTE !!
Device specifics may lead to some templates not showing correct. All my templates are made on the nexus 4 so may look strange on other devices.
Further info and screens are available on the LightningLauncher G+ pages.

I decided to share my Pinup theme it's a little more work but for sure it's worth it
So here come the explanation how to accomplish this theme
First the things you need.
LL Launcher of course https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.pierrox.lightning_launcher&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm5ldC5waWVycm94LmxpZ2h0bmluZ19sYXVuY2hlciJd
Uccw https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.vineetsirohi.customwidget&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImluLnZpbmVldHNpcm9oaS5jdXN0b213aWRnZXQiXQ
The Uccw uzip files this include the weather and wallpaper, it also include the PSD for the pinup tiles and the wallpaper PSD
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_CuFN5jCNftNU5nb1g0Ul8wbm8/edit?usp=sharing
For other pinup files go to http://www.thepinupfiles.com/index.html#.UWzDI4n8J9A
You can of course also use other picture's or photo's instead.
Icons http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30620371&postcount=2858
LL Theme https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_CuFN5jCNftYnZfS2xkdHhPRDQ/edit?usp=sharing
I don't know sure if everything is packed in the theme so that's why I put everything with it and also a description how to accomplish this theme
Preparation
If you don't have Lightning launcher and/or uccw
Install them first
Unzip the uccw files and put them on your phone of course also put the wallpaper with it.
Wallpaper
This theme is for 1280X800, but because you have the PSD files you can adjust it to other sizes
Be sure only that you remember the sizes of your tiles because that will be importend in uccw.
UCCW
This you really have to check out when you adjusted the size of the wallpaper and/or tiles
Be sure that the background in the uccw editor have exactly the same size as the widgets (uzip) else you gone have trouble with aligning the widgets and also the hotspot of the widget will be very hard to get it right.
Lighting launcher settings
Current screen settings
Items>Text Display label off
Items>Icon Display the icon on, Enable reflection off
Rest of the Items no need to change
Wallpaper & Background> Display wallpaper
Wallpaper & Background> Select your wallpaper look up your wallpaper
Wallpaper & Background> Width 768
Wallpaper & Background> Height 1280
The rest of Wallpaper & Background stay the same
Behavior>Layout>Free mode on
Behavior>Layout> Dual position off
Behavior>Layout> Snapping none
Behavior>Zooming and scrolling>scrolling direction> Vertical only
Behavior>Zooming and scrolling> Scrolling speed 3.0
Behavior>Zooming and scrolling> Use scroll stops on
Behavior>Zooming and scrolling> Disable diagonal scrolling on
Behavior>Zooming and scrolling> rest of settings off
Behavior>Lost+found> Screen orientation > Portrait
Behavior>Lost+found> Hide the statusbar On
Appdrawer settings
Wallpaper & Background> Display wallpaper
Wallpaper & Background> Tint color (i made it black but you can pick what ever color you want)
Now the settings of lightning launcher are done and it's time to build up your screen
As you see the wallpaper have for the pinned widgets and icons (Weather, Time, Agenda, Frequent apps and missed) already aligned squars and there place
So that is gone be easy.
But first we have to put the pinup uccw widgets on there place because the alignment will be much easier.
Be sure that the hotspot of your uccw pinup widget is connected with the right app (if you have chanced it or in case i use a other app then you do)
Place the first one and go on from there it's a little hard to do but worth the effort.
When you have placed the first 3 the swipe with your fingers up or down to get to the top page or lower page to add the next 3.
When all this is done then add the pinned uccw widgets, you pin them by holding them a little longer then you get a menu in which you can pin them.
I hope you gone like the theme and it inspire to make your own or even better theme

Hmmm why is this thread so short? I'll try to share my theme later. Can someone link me to the original lightning launcher main thread? Can't seem to find it.

I can't really answer that but I must say I have tried L.L. a few times and found it very confusing to use, I'm sure giving it a bit of time will yield good results but it was just a bit full on for my liking.
Cheers, LL13-

Certainly not for everyone. If you're looking for a lot of flexibility in customization in a more traditional launcher try ss launcher. I use that on my evo.

Oh, someone else who likes the launcher
I'll try to post my homescreens soon. Most of them are also uploaded to the Theme Manager. My name there is Vinncorporated

This thread is old now and the method here is outdated, I will update this thread soon with new links to my LL templates.

Hi, all! Just wanted to share my process for creating my home screen layouts. It's pretty simple and it's been relatively the same way I've been making my home screen designs for many years. There's been a clear pattern I favor (one home screen page only) and it's been serving me well for a long time. Just wanted to include some more examples and share some tools that I use in case any of you wanted some help recreating some of my designs or to help inspire you to make something unique to your tastes. It's a really fun process, IMO.
The first and most important tool that I use is GIMP, which if you don't already know is a free image editing program that you can download here: https://www.gimp.org/
There's TONS of tutorial videos on YouTube on how you can use this program, it's not difficult to use so you'll get the hang of things pretty quickly, IMO. Theoretically, you can create my themes (with maybe more capabilities) solely using Zooper Widget and/or KLWP but for me using GIMP to make the background wallpapers, the color schemes and icons, basically everything but the widgets, is much easier to make on my laptop using GIMP.
Here's some screenshots of a quick process using layers on GIMP and how it all looks.
I start with the 12x12 grid template that I created to help move everything into its proper place, then add the layers on top and make adjustments as I go along.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
Here's the 12x12 Nova Grid Template:
How about some color pallets to help make your choice of what color to use?
RED - PINK - PURPLE
DEEP PURPLE - INDIGO - BLUE
LIGHT BLUE - CYAN - TEAL
GREEN - LIGHT GREEN - LIME
YELLOW - AMBER - ORANGE
DEEP ORANGE - BROWN - GREY
BLUE GREY
I have a folder on my laptop full of icon packs that I've collected over the years. I just place them onto the wallpaper (as layers on GIMP) and use the grid template as a guide to put them in place. I use a blank Zooper Widget to make hotspots for every individual app in that area of the home screen, if you get what I'm saying.
This is my current layout that I'm using on my Note 8 - 12x12 Grid using Nova - Zooper Widget Pro - Power Toggles (Painless Apps)
Blank version without the icons
With the bottom icons only
Zooper file for the top widget that has the Time, Date and Storage Information - For the Micro SD info inside the Zooper Widget settings you need to find the name of your file path to your SD card, in my case it was simple "0000-0000". Use a file explorer to find your file path name to your card.

Finally, here are some videos that I've made over the years to showcase some of my home screen creations. Some of them are a tutorial of sorts and the others are just showcasing a specific theme.
This first one I believe was my first video I made to show how I put together the final result of a layout. After all the editing is done on GIMP this is basically how things would get put together on the phone's end. I used to use Buzz Launcher for a long time before switching to Nova Prime I think when I got my Note 5. Most of these videos were made showing my layouts on Buzz Launcher but the principle is basically the same on Nova Launcher. Still using a 12x12 Grid.
S3 Layout
Enkel Lidenskab
I think this was made on my Note 3 or 4
SVART OCH VITT
This theme here was one of the few that I created that used more than one homescreen page. I believe it was made on my S3 or Note 4.
WIJH
This layout shows how I used to incorporate live wallpapers underneath my custom wallpaper. Latest versions of Buzz Launcher no longer allow you to do this and I haven't seen any examples of Nova allowing you to do this, either. That is, unless you just use a Zooper Widget to create the wallpaper in pieces but like I said, I prefer to just do that on my laptop using GIMP.

Well, that's basically it. I hope you've found this guide to be useful. If y'all have any comments or questions please feel free to post below. Have fun and see you around the forums!
Just wanted to share a few more details on how I put my themes together. For those of you using GIMP, here is the xcf file for my latest theme. When you open this in GIMP you'll get a better picture of how I put this all together.
http://www.mediafire.com/view/kt61g88at0ry5hg/07_Oct_2017.xcf
So I start with what do I need on my home screen. I need my most used apps, my favorite app folders, my power toggle widget and finally my combined widget for the time, date and storage info. I look at the 12x12 Grid Template and decide where I'm placing all of that.
This is how it looks with the lines so you can see how I managed things:
Just going by this recent layout I'm using, once I have everything placed where I need it I can start choosing the background wallpaper and save different versions so I can swap my phone's look throughout the week at my whim. The wallpaper doesn't have to be the exact size of the middle image space but you need to re scale it to at least 1122 pixel height and you can just drag it across to frame it how you'd prefer. If you've got this opened on GIMP you'll understand what I'm saying much clearer.
Here's another Zooper Widget template for my center clock layout in case anyone wants it:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/s5963dbch4d9oo6/Full_Circle_Roadie.zw
I hope these new details help. Keep sharing any questions you may have and thank you for all the kind words!
Amazing work
I truly appreciate this
visiones antiqua is one of the most amazing homescreens i've seen. This post pretty much epitomizes why I like Android. Bravo.
Thanks, guys! I really appreciate the kind words! Lotta work I put into these themes but they're fun to make and I enjoy helping out my community around here!
So, how do you change the main wallpaper? Do you go into GIMP every time and just re-upload it Nova?
How do you get each little section clickable in nova? Do you import it to KLWP?

I just save different versions of the same layout on my phone so that I can swap wallpapers depending on what I feel like.
The toggles on top is a widget
The time, date and storage info is a Zooper Widget
The folders in the middle (Tools/News/Media/Photography/Office/Games - I just drag from the the app drawer and make them transparent so the wallpaper comes through
The icon rows on the bottm launch from Zooper Widget hot spots.
This is fantastic. Thank you very much
Awesome work. Thanks
So I downloaded GIMP and also have PS. How am I to use your template considering it has the clock in it and all the other stuff? Or does that not matter?
Also, if I want to create my own template, whats the picture resolution supposed to be at ?

You don't need to go by my recent layout example, you can just use the grid template to help make your own but you can take my screen shots and chop them up and use whatever part you want. The clock is a Zooper Widget and you can download it from the link in the first post. Let me fire up GIMP and provide a more detailed description of my current home screen layout so you can see what size is what and where. I'll update my first post when I'm done. Hang tight!
Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
Post #2 updated with further details and files. Hope that helps!
@roaduardo do you have the first post's wallpaper without any icons, but including the shadows of each layer?
Also please remind me which widget is the top toggles widget?
Thank you!

Here ya go! The top widget I made using Zooper Widget Pro, the template of which I've also included in the first post. Install Zooper Widget Pro if you haven't already and just use that template file I included. If you run into any issues let me know.
Thanks a lot! Will try & revert back in case I face any issues
