[Q] Clean up internal SD Card - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
after flashing my branded Vodafone i9000 to Froyo via Kies & RegHack I did a factory reset because I wanted to start fresh.
Now, my internal SDCard is still full, plenty folder of old apps.
Do you guys know any SAFE method to clear the SDCard? Or can I just format the SDCard before I install any apps? Did Froyo saved there in the initializing process any information?
Regards from Germany!

format directly works!

do you not speak english? or do you just PHail?
what do you mean by "up rom"? upgrade? upload?
what rom were you before? stock?
disLagfix ? disable lagfix? is that what you mean? you would DISABLE BEFORE flashing, ENABLE after.
loading files via your phone? #1 you load TO your phone VIA a usb calbe or VIA wifi ect. #2 what do you ACTUALLY mean? that you cant push with odin? cant mount usb? ect.....
try including information, to help us help you, if you want help.
and using terms that we dont use, makes it obvious you didnt READ AND LEARN BEFORE FLASHING.

you cant 'upgrade' you need to flash the FULL 1.1 over your current rom. shouldnt need to disable lagfix at all, but it wouldnt hurt. the idea there is to disable BEFORE you flash the rom, then re-enable it AFTER flashing the rom.
if you flash the full rom over your current rom it will wipe everything for you, except items on your sdcard (pictures/music/apps that store data there, etc)
REmove ext. sd card,. odin back to stock with repartition checked.
your sd card is corrupted mine did this and i had to do this. also format
your ext sd card mine was so corrupted that its actually no longer any good

I´ve had this problem before on di11i's 6.0 rom... just download the SGS Tools 4.5 from this thread - apply the "clean_thumb_db" script, reboot. The gallery should be back to normal after the system scans the media... well... this is how I fixed mine anyway!

How to fix internal SD by formatting?

Hello,
I messed up my SGS after upgrading Darkyys. Its just very very slow, like opening Whatsapp takes 20 seconds. It has been this for about 1 month, even after updates it didn't got better. After some research I found a tip: Using chekdisk from Windows to run over the internal SD helped to gain some speed but its still not normal.
Now I want to format the internal SD as I guess it has some errors. Normal factory reset or reformat doesn't work. I read something about flashing some firmwares with all 3 files (?) and this twice, once with one pit (?) and than with a different(?). I'm not sure which files exactly are needed and if boxes like "repartition" needs to be checked.
Please help as I know that here a smart people around. Which files, which settings etc. Finally I would love some suggestions for a lean ROM with GPS and battery working/lasting better.
Thanks!
nobody`? I really want to fix this
When you flashed the Darkyy's ROM, did you do a clean install (wipe) or non-wipe?
Most likely if it's non-wipe, that could be the cause of the sluggishness.
Try using clockworkmod recovery to wipe dalvik, wipe cache, etc. Your first bootup after this will be very slow, but then it should work fine afterwards.
However, if you've done all this already, there might be other factors involved.
It's very difficult to point out a direct cause, there might be many, or just one.
Only reformat you internal SD, etc. as a last resort.
If that still doesn't work, try some other ROMs and see if the problem persists, then there might be an issue with your device.
I tried everything, of course with wipe.

And how to? Odin? Re-partition?
thx
to format the internal sd card go to settings then storage and erase the sd card to format it...
to install a new rom:
first download any official rom that you want and its come with three files for pda, phone and csc
then use odin to flash it and dont forget to use the pit file for galaxy s 9000 and tick repartition...
after that go to darky site and follow the instructions to flash the last darky rom
Well, but on a running ROM you cant format the SD card. I need to format the system's internal card.

[q] im about to destroy my nexus!!!!!!!!!

Soooooooooooooo many problems..
1) When I try to delete stuff off my SD card (music, movies, pictures) they will delete but then when I plug my phone into my computer THEY ARE BACK THERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) When I try to partition my SD card to get a Ext4 partition, all I get is errors.
3) When I put a ROM Zip file on my SD (from my computer), it is there, when I boot into recovery and try to install the zip; i choose install zip from SD card and it isn't there.
Why is my Nexus One trying to piss me off? I've never had issues like these ever!
My Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, and Atrix never did this.
If anyone knows whats going on and can help fix this BS, that'b be awesome. If not, then I will just take this garbage to the shooting range next week.
Your SD card is most likely corrupted / unusable.

Would disk defrag help?
No, either completely wipe the card or just get a new one. That's simple...
Wow, taking anger out on the phone when its the sd card's problem..
Try formatting it, not just deleting the data. If another card works then it is definitely the card. Stuff happens, just get a new card if anything.
if you are going to format in windows as Jack suggested, use sdformatter--
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28338566/SDFormatter 2.0.mht
format with full erase and size adjustment on
keep your swap at 0 when you repartition card when back in phone
if that doesn't work--need new card
also wiping system is important when flashing new rom. i like temasek's extreme wipe that is flashable thru recovery--
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28338566/Extreme-wipe.zip
i still wipe data and caches after flashing the zip, usually wipe all 3x

Hello everyone i been searching and browsing the forums but cant seem to find the solution on this phone, i havent been able to factory reset my phone in years..
I have tried a thousand things factory reset with phone on formatting in CWM and doing a hard reset no matter what i do i can still se folders on my internal card from old apps and stuff..

Find format internal sd card option in cwm, that will completely erase internal sd card content. You can then flash kdz to go back to stock , or flash another rom from external sd card
I will try that and sorry to everyone for posting in the wrong forum like a ******* noob i thought i were in the question forum..

Internal storage files formatting problem even after factory reset.

Hello everyone,
I am facing a wired problem on my GT-N7000, after flashing new rom with wipe data and factory reset, all files in internal storage remains intact. :crying: i want to format that internal storage completely because there are so many junk files like, snote files and other application files which i don't use so can anyone please help me out?
Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem.
Using stock rom (no root access) I can format/factory internal SD card.
As soon as I'm rooting the device I can't do it anymore (from recovery's menu or Android).
I installed CM11 but no better luck.
