[Q] Heres a question for ya... - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys after installing 2.2 I rooted my phone again and put the lag fix back on for obvious reasons.
The problem is the lag fix party didn't go so well and completely messed up my phone. I tried taking the lag fix back off but it kept saying it failed...
I went into recovery mode and wiped my sd card and did a factory reset. The phone started working right again and my su had gone.
The thing is though that there was still a folder in my files called templagfix. I deleted this folder and did a battery pull.
so... Will the sd card wipe and factory reset in recovery mode have taken the root and lag fix off properly?

i think you should normally do a Re-Flash of the Firmware you use to made a clean Build

I used the kies registry hack so it just says latest version already installed.

[Q] What is happening to my phone?

Hello,
Running Darky's 9.2 with HardcoreSpeedmod kernel on froyo 2.2 JLK, I have completed the battery calibrate and changed my file format to ext4. Everything appeared to be fine until after I rebooted from CWM.
I get the Nexus fireworks splash screen and it sits there for about an hour followed by 1 vibrate then few minutes later a series of vibrates then 1 vibrate etc...
I boot into recovery mode and do a reset and it's fine. So I thought...
I try to access the app market and it says "Application is not installed on your phone"
Is my phone about to be bricked, or is there some files that have just got corrupted?
Thanks in advance.
or is there some files that have just got corrupted?
If you install a rom and something breaks 3 routes to look at .
One bad flash = reflash
Two bad flash due to something left behind on the system = wipe and clean flash
Three Error prone rom or built in problem bug etc = Use another rom

Yes... hopefully it is just corrupted files and a simple factory reset will do it.

I am afraid not. When my market starts not to install apps, hard reset does not fix the problem - you should re-partition with stock ROM trough ODIN and then apply Darky's ROM.

Since I did a reset and loaded everything back, my market icon is back and functioning properly now. Are you saying that even though it's working now it could end up getting corrupted again?
I don't want to touch it now as it is running so beautifully...lol

Yes, flashing too much custom ROMs can cause the apps to stop installing/downloading - at least this is one of the most common symptoms.

[Q] almost everything force close

Hi i have a bell galaxy s i just flash ugkc1 firmware but when the phone boots i get force close message for almost every app.
i think the internal sd might be corrupted tried to format it but all files are still there
any idea ??
thank you
your SD card usually nothing to do with application force close, those files which you see after formatting on SD card should be there so do not worry about them.
if you want to find the reason explain about your previous rom and kernel. did you do a factory reset or wipe before and after rom installation?
Here is two simalar topics. I also have that problem and cannot solve it yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076101
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069867
When i looked in internet i found sth similar for HTC, but devs corrected it. They parted some files from working devices and pushed it to system with adb.
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/6433-solved-messed-up-partitions-on-internal-storage/
Maybe sth like that will also solve our problem but we need help.
If you find any sollution please infrom us. Maybe it will be useful for us too.

thanks for your replies

I doubt it is an SD problem. Go to recovery, clear cache and dalvik and fix permissions. If the problem persists to a factory reset and reinstall your apps from the market.

thanks again for tryin to help i already tried this but didnt work
Edit :
flashed back to stock 2.2.. now i get ''blank internal sd'' on the notification bar. phone doesn't seem to detect internal sd card is this a hardware or software problem ?
thanks
now i flashed sppedmode kernel phone seems to be running a little better ( less force closes messages) but i still can't delete files or format my sd card
any idea ?
I tried to flash darky 9.2 (odin version). Then i reach with ADB to the internal when it is in CWM. I pushed there some custom roms and flashed with CWM. But it did not help either.
isn't there any way to fix a corrupted sd card ?

[Q] Galaxy S Plus - Stuck in Reboot loop

Hi
I got a rooted Samsung galaxy plus 9001.
I installed font changer and busy box.
With the font changer i chose a ttf font from the internal memory card, and after applying it, i got the pop up menu reboot now.
After clicking on reboot now my phone stuck in reboot loop.
I can access android recovery menu, i treid wipe all user data but still stuck in reboot loop.
Please help me guys.
You'll have to reinstall the rom you were using... that should get you out of bootloop. If that doesn't work, do factory defaults (you'll lose all apps and settings!) and install the original rom again (or for instance XXKPS).
One more tip: always make a (cwm/feamod) backup before changing system defaults
Regards,
Nika.
Thank you.. Thanks alot

any link to step by step instructions on how to do this available anywhere?
i have similar boot loop problem.
I doubt anyone has created that. How did you get into the loop?
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium
Boot Loop
When you are stuck in the boot loop:
1. Take out the battery and re-insert it.
2. Put the phone in download mode (using 3-button combo - down+home+power)
3. Open Odin, and reinstall the stock firmware (using all 3 md5 files: PDA, CSC and PHONE); you will be able to find the files in the stock firmware 2.3.5 from the post in XDA-stock gingerbread roms for i9000.
4. After you have done this, root your phone, install custom kernel, and then install custom firmware through custom recovery menu.
Thats the way i did it....i dunno if there is a short cut to it.
Hope it helps!
I also find bootloop can be resolved by going into download as stated by puneetgandhi and flash a VOODOO KERNEL using ODIN (it goes on PDA).
Then booting to recovery and turning off all lags.

No idea, it has been going in and out of boot loops a few times already for last few months works fine for ages. All of a sudden it would starts lagging on an app or when texting and reboots into a loop
although i never had the problem on froyo only in gingerbread (a few week or so after i got my phone back from repair shop, they upgraded it to gingerbread without my notification, but since i had voodoo on before on froyo i don't know, maybe they updated it wrongly ).
First time i fixed it with a fix on here about transferring a system file through odin.
second time it fixed itself after i left it for a day as i didn't have time to fix it .
this time i finally fixed it with a factory reset for the 4th or 5th time in a row, after wiping cache and so on, didn't work first few times.
So not sure whats causing it, could be a failing internal memory card i suppose or overheating corrupting the memory, hoping its a software issue that the factory reset will permanently fix (but doubt it).
If you were on Froyo, please look or create another thread for I9000 Samsung Galaxy S. This thread is about Samsung Galaxy S plus I9001... That's the device I own, and stuff like Voodoo and Froyo do not exist on SGS+ (and I have no experience with - probably other with an I9000/SGS do).

[Q] Captivate Boot Looping Help

Hi I've searched some, and I haven't found anything for this setup. My captivate was working fine when I last used it a while back but when I turned it on, for a few weeks now, its been stuck in a boot loop. The problem is that I have never flashed custom roms or anything, its just been its stock- update as officially released, etc. Also, aside from that, I don't have any backups of anything because of computer issues. Is there anything I could do to just get it going again without chancing loosing all of the pictures I have on there?

Can you get to Download and / or recovery modes?
You could try a Factory Reset from recovery. All that I have read says that it does not delete pictures and music. You are likely to loose apps you have downloaded and the app data. (Double check to insure this is correct.)
If a factory reset does not work things get a bit more complicated. For example, you could possible move files from your phone to your PC using adb if you can get to download mode.

From what I've still been researching, anything factory reset is supposed to completely wipe everything on the phone. Is there any way to backup or get anywhere with download mode, because I can get into download mode, but it doesn't register with my computer so I don't know what I can do from it.

Downgraded to Kitkat phone worked at first then slowly begin crashing

I sent my phone into Samsung for a repair and they replaced the motherboard, the screen almost a whole new phone. When it was returned they had already downloaded lollipop which towelroot would not work. Found a site that showed me how to downgrade back to kitkat root, install safestrap and I could return to lollipop. I never did the lollipop part as I did not like it much. It worked great at first I was able to return back all my data. After a week it begin to act funny, not wanting to wake up from sleep and then slowly apps begin crashing and not working. I would restart my phone and things were fine. Another week apps were crashing left and right and then my data begin disappearing like my messages and the levels of my saved games. Then it begin restarting on its own 3 times during the night. I tried to reinstall the rom and re-partitioned the phone and did factory reset but it continues to periodically restart even though I have given up on reinstalling my data since it factory resets on its own. I guess I am in a very slow bootloop. Can anyone suggest what I can do? Thanks in advance

When you downgrade to KitKat did you use an All-In-One Odin file which went in the AP Slot? If you did, then Flash all four Odin files for NC2 (KitKat) BL https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891602 AP https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891890 CP https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891603 CSC https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891604 Odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3109599&d=1420980613 That will put you back on stock Kitkat and just root with Towelroot.

When I downgraded I did use an all in one but later when I realized it was all bad and reinstalled the rom I did it both ways. Used an all in one and then did it with the four individual files. It still has the problem, it will be working fine then suddenly freeze and the phone will auto reboot. Is there a way to clean it all out then try to stock rom. I am concerned that there is something lingering causing this problem. I did clear the cache several times but it does not help.

After you put all four files in Odin, go to Options and check Nand Erase All (picture 1). Then Once phone reboots, power off and go into stock recovery and wipe data/factory reset, then do wipe cache partition (picture 2).

I did exactly what you said, put the files in Odin and selected the Nand Erase. It loaded rebooted, then I powered off went into recovery mode did a wipe data and then wiped cache. Turned on well, looked good but in the middle of restoring my texts and contacts through Kies it shut down restarted and now getting the same kind of messages that various apps and processes have stopped. It literally is now popping up with so many messages that one thing or another has stopped that I can not even select to restart the phone. This is crazy. I don't know what else to fix. The phone got a new motherboard so what else could be causing this craziness Any help you can provide or light on the subject is very appreciated.

If you didn't root it yet, then do a wipe data/factory reset, then do wipe cache partition in recovery and don't restore anything with Kies and see what happens. If everything works great then, then you know it's Kies messing up your phone.

So it is taking longer and I don't get the message that apps have stopped because there are no updated apps since I did not connect to the play store but after a while like before it is freezing and restarting. So it is back to the original problem of being a slow bootloop. Sorry it is being a pain.

When I first got it back it started right up and it was on lollipop. I went to restore my stuff through titanium backup but realized that I could not root it with Towelroot. I kept the phone like it was for a two days and I don't believe I had any real problems. Nothing I noticed but I did not have all my data completely back. I read up on downgrading my phone back to kitkat in order to root and it also had the option to re upgrage to lollipop and keep the root but I did not like the look and feel of lollipop so I kept it at kitkat. Although I did install the safetstrap program like suggested but never used it, could that be causing the problem? I restored my data and things were just fine for about a week. Then it slowly started having problems being difficult to wake up, then apps crashing, to data disappearing then finally restarting on its own over and over. This process of breakdown took about three weeks. I was concerned that my data could have been the problem so when I restored the ROM the first time and wiped it clean I hope that would take care of the problem but like what happened today it still begin the out of the blue restart for no reason. I would not be using the phone or anything, it would just restart on its own.

Safestrap will keep your stock recovery from booting up if Kies needs it to. After you had Safestrap on it did you use any Odin files (not the "all-in-one" as it will not wipe your phone)?

If you only installed Towelroot, then you was on NC2. This is up to you, if you want to. But I would Odin the [100% Stock] Lollipop 5.0 (N900AUCUEOC1) Odin Tars http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609 (the Individual/Wipe Tars ones) and then upgrade it to OC2 (though phone) and see if it gives you any problems. If it does, I would say that motherboard is the problem then. If there is no problems, you can always Odin back to NC2. Or if you want, install Busybox, supersu and Safestrap on what you have now and put your backup from Titanium and Kies on your phone and then boot into Safestrap and tap WIPE > ADVANCE WIPE > DALVIK CACHE and swipe to wipe. Then ADVANCE > FIX PERMISSIONS > swipe to confirm.
