I have been trying to create a shortcut with BetterCut for the 'Sync Now' option from the Data Synchronization screen. What I found so far is (According to the Android SDK):
public static final String ACTION_SYNC
Activity Action: Perform a data synchronization.
Input: ?
Output: ?
Constant Value: "android.intent.action.SYNC"
So I have set Action to:android.intent.action.SYNC
Data to: ?
and Type to: ?
But the response from hitting the shortcut is: Application is not installed on the phone..
Any ideas of what I am missing or getting wrong here?
Can someone create a WIDGET for us to do a 'SYNC NOW' ???
(PLEASE do not mention that the POWER BAR WIDGET can do this, because it cannot - it only turns it on/off.)
Thanks
Hi there,
Can someone tell me how I change the default app that is used to open text messages?
When I downloaded ChompSMS, I chose that as the default app, but I'd like to change that to Handcent SMS.
Thanks very much,
Menu>settings>applications>manage applications>chompsms then select the clear defaults button
Thanks very much - so how do I go about setting a new default?
the next time you open a message or anything related to messaging, your sammy will ask which app you want to use.. just check the "use by default for this action"

Click to collapse
You see, that's what I hoped too.
But I've tried clicking on the Messaging icon and not getting a pop up box. It's just opening up in the standard app.
nope.. not the messaging icon.. because that messaging icon is a shortcut for the built in messaging app..
it must be a messaging "action" like clicking on a "send sms" button on the phonebook...
and also.. if you are referring on the messaging icon on 4 icons at the bottom, you must replace the default messaging icon (shortcut) with the handcent icon..
^instructions: click the applications icon -> menu -> edit -> drag the handcent icon/shortcut to replace the default messaging icon/shortcut
Ah ok, that makes sense. Think I've got it now ... cheers
One last question - is there a way of reverting the icon used for 'Messaging' to its default state?
you mean returning the default messaging shortcut at the bottom? yes you can, you'll notice that when you've replaced it with the handcent shortcut, the default messaging shortcut went to the applications menu. just do the same instructions to replace the handcent shortcut with the default shortcut..
since you'll be using handcent, disable the notifications of the default messaging app & use handcent's notification..
How can I disable notifications on the original notifications? I dont have any...please see my attached pictures...after settings, there is no notification settings for me to uncheck...ive transferred Handcent to the 4 main home button on the menu. but on the original messenger on the applications where i transfered it, it still has a number that its still receiving messages
curious tho. i've tried to drag the handcent app over the messaging app, once in the "applications" page. and it does nothing but let me throw it away..i desperately want to change the "messaging app" also one of the 4 apps at bottom, and make it the handcent. please help! thanks

If you don't see the Edit icon when you click the menu button, make sure you select Customizable List, then Menu, and you'll see the Edit button. Now drag the new icon the the menu bar.

Is there any way to enable creating direct message shortcuts? When adding a contact widget it has an option for "Direct dial" and "Contact" shortcuts but not "Direct message".. I don't know why they'd remove this. Their (Samsung) support live chat is quite useless online.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.
I am looking for that as well...
Recently Spotify decided to remove their Widget for whatever reason.
Luckily with Tasker you can bring it back! Check it out!
Just import the project from here and follow the instructions at the same link and you’ll have the Spotify widget back in no time!
As a bonus you can click the widget's title to change the app to control, so you can, for example, control both Spotify and Google Play Music with the same widget!
Don't forget to get AutoNotification and enable its Notification Access service (in Tasker > Menu > More > Android Settings > Notification Access > Enable AutoNotification) to get the album art to work.
Enjoy!
Can this be done for a full screen lock screen to change songs, maybe including the background as the album art?
Regards
I just tried to go through your steps and found that the Kustom.zip was corrupt and could not be unzipped. I tried again and got the same result.
Kind Regards
Hi,
might seem a silly question but it's very annoying while driving that I receive Samsung calendar notifications. While they appear full screen, Waze and music sounds are silenced.
I have to manually dismiss them before all sounds are 'restored'.
I just want to drive without interruptions of the calendar app, anyone know how this can be done? I'm also using Android Auto but don't see any setting that can accomplish this.
thank you
I'm using Tasker and AutoNotifcation for this. I block some notifications and enable the AOD while connected to my cars Bluetooth.
- install both apps
- in Tasker add a task and search for "AutoNotification Block".
- Tap the pen of Configuration and select the apps you want to block the notification for. You can also add the package name manually
- Under "Toggle" set it to "Block"
- go back and set the timeout to none (slide the slider to the most right)
- go back to the task
- go back to the task list
- add a new task, do the same as above but instead of "Block" set the Toggle to "Unblock".
Now you have the needed tasks and you can set the profiles for them.
- In Tasker go to the profile tap and add a new profile, name it whatever you want.
- Tap on "Status" and filter for "Bluetooth connected" (Note: Bluetooth must be enabled while creating the profiles!).
- Name is optional, tap on the magnifying glass for "Address" and select your cars Bluetooth address.
- go back and Tasker will popup a window where you need to assign a task. Assign the "block" task.
- now do the same again but Mark the "Reverse" check mark in the Bluetooth address menu and after this select the "unblock" task.
So, Tasker will tell AutoNotification to block the specific notifications while connected to the Bluetooth device and unblock it if disconnected.
I hope it works for you. I don't know the English menu entries for Tasker since my app is in German, sorry if there's something different.
thanks, great tip : I already bought Tasker a while ago, I'll set it up like that
