[Q] [advice]Help with downgrading i9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys,
if this has been answered in forum someplace then please let me no and delete the thread but i am looking for a way to downgrade the samsung i9000 from the 2.1 update1 to the original 2.1. since i updated it it has added a load of portugese apps and now has the portugese network tmn splash screen. its made the phone buggy and slow.
does anyone know how to do this?
i'm in the UK btw so dont know why an update through kies should have put tmn branding on my phone...

just a quick bump

Wrong forum.
And you can downgrade to 2.1 because there is no 2.1 for this phone - only 2.1 update 1.

[Q] Galaxy S I9000 cannot be updated

Hello,
I have this phone and after trying to update it thru Kies I get this message:
This device's version cannot be updated I see also this numbers in the same window:
PDA:JM6 / PHONE::JM1 / CSC:JM4
I'm really new to this and I simply wanted to have Froyo on my phone. Is this possible? I really don't know what this number means. I live in Slovenia (Europe).
Thank you for any kind of advise.

Wait for Official Froyo to be released...You should get it...
However, If you want it right now, than use Ref. heck and see if that gives you...I am using JP6 Froyo , updated via Kies.

[Q] Help how to flash back to Original Samsung Galaxy S I9000 2.1 ROM

Hi,
Before I start I'm new here on XDA so if I do something wrong say it to me please.
I think I have a big problem, because I want my I9000 Galaxy's flash back to 2.1 from 2.2 but it is not working I've tried everything I've really been searching for things on google but really i dont know what to do now pleass if there is somebody help me.
I Flashed from 2.1 to 2.2 and i used this
Tayutama Edition Lite v1.0.0 - Captivate
i tried to flash trough Kies but its not possible cause then i see a message
Device version cannot be upgraded
Moved to Samsung s I9000 forum
pleasssss if there is somebody helppp!!!!
Well you need to search for ODIN and download the official firmware available in this forum (use search) and you'd be able to flash it back to 2.1
Also as AllGamer bro has mentioned, do not attempt such flashing techniques unless you can get into 3 button modes from the phone itself directly!
So what do you actually have? A I9000 or a Captivate?
Either way, go to samfirware and download both ODIN and a suitable 2.1 rom (hope you remember which one you had) and flash it.
I couldn't update with Kies either. Neither with a stock ROM, nor with a custom ROM. I always get this message. So just skip Kies and Do-It-Yourself with Odin (if you dare )
Or search this forum for 2.2 registry hack. With this u will get ur stock rom back over keys cause since 2.2 isnt availible anymore it will 'update' to 2.1

Even if I flashed to the stock 2.1 rom the kies also prompt me my GS cannot be upgraded...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yes cause at the moment there is no update for keys and if u flash ur stock rom through keys u have to do it with ur region code

[Q] Need advice for a ROM - Any help welcomed!

Hey guys,
Right now I have an HTC Legend I bought through my cell operator.
Of-course it's sim locked and it's running Eclair 2.1.
The full software information:
Firmware version: 2.1-update 1
Baseband version: 47.39.35.09U_7.08.35.21
Kernel version:2.6.29-639577ca
[email protected]#1
Build number:2.05.461.52 CL218650 release-keys
Software number: 2.05.461.52
I decided it's a time for a rooting and putting some rom on it...
What I'm trying to find first is the ROM that all the rooting stuff will worth it.
The characteristics of ROM I'm looking for:
1) The most stable ROM (don't want to see any unexpected reboots or freezing).
2)Fully functional Legend(GPS working, WIFI, 3G, SMS, Calls, Camera and etc.)
3)Improved WIFI signal (better than I have now ).
4)Fast performance without any lagging and freezing(faster than eclair 2.1).
5)Stable ability of moving and saving applications on SD card.
6)The most battery saving ROM (ROM with best battery power management).
7)As much as less pre-installed not needed software.
-I've seen that some ROMS require changing KERNEL, I'm a newbie in this stuff so any "android expression guide" will be welcomed.
Any suggestion and advice will be welcomed.
Also would like to know where can I find a complete guide for rooting my phone, with all the required steps (don't want to brick my phone beacuse someone forgot to mention what is the next step).
Appreciate your help my friends.
p.s.
If I ask my cell operator to unlock my phone to sim free, will I still need to use Gold-Card for rooting?
Hi..
First of all.. This question should have been asked in the General forum..
Second.. What you need is not a rooted phone.. Just an update for 2.2 (FroYo) should be available for your phone by now.
If you somehow decide to root I would recommend
[ROM] B 0.5 (based on stock HTC FroYo WWE 3.15.405.3) by BlaY0
If you want to keep the look and feel of HTC..
or
[ROM] CyanogenMod 6.1 by Ali Ba
if you want the look and feel of what Android was all about in the first place..
You can start from this discussion:
[REF] ALL ROMS | ROOTING | FAQ's | STICKIES | POSTING RULES - Read before posting
although it is not updated

The thing is, my cell operator not going to release froyo 2.2 for legend, so I have no option but to root.
Unless there is some way to install RUU version without rooting????
I' m sorry for posting in wrong forum,if administrator can move this thread to appropriate one I'll be be glad.
still haven't understand if i'll need a gold card if i ask my cell operator to open my Legend to sim free...
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
You will need a goldcard to root regardless of whether or not the phone is sim unlocked. However, if you want to flash a RUU update all you will need is a goldcard, no need to root your phone. If you do decide to root, I would recommend either of the two ROMs already mentioned above.
thanks a lot my friend, not gonna root right now i think but do want to install official froyo 2.2.
where can i find the lastest ruu file? and also a full guide how to do it right without damage to phone....
will the official froyo update will provide all i've mentioned?

Why don't you google "legend root howto" or search the forum? "legend root"?
If that's a serious question, PLEASE don't root! You won't be happy without reading A LOT and using google!
but i decided not to root but just flash ruu froyo, the official froyo for legend...
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Yes, but you have to create a Goldcard, thats explained in the rooting howto's, then pick any RUU, you can update it via OTA!
ok my friend, appreciate you help... but what ota means?

Well the phone is from Europe i assume ?? if so i would just go for 2.2 froyo (JPY) or 2.1 Eclair (JPU) as upgrades have been officially released, and they wont think anything of it if you have one of them... where as a custom ROM would raise some eyebrows lol.
