Titanium backup is a free market program that you can DL, backup, install ROM, re-DL Titanium backup and still be able to restore your programs.
I use the paid version that gives you some extras but the free version should do just fine.

Restore Applications

im going to change the rom on my 8125, and all my apps are installed to my SD Card. If i put my SD card back in the phone after i install the new Rom, will my applications still be there or will the shortcuts be gone?
shortcuts and programs
if you did not make a backup, your programs will not run .
i mean by this that everything you installed on your device will not run.
when a back up made by using sprite back up or spb back up these programs can be restored
ok i got SPB Backup, i installed it, do i just backup my entire device? or do i have to manually go through the windows folder and stuff and select what to backup? if i backup the entire contents, then install a different ROM, and then restore the backup, wouldnt that fook everything up?

Sprite Backup is the only application that can restore everything after a ROM upgrade, you need to run an Upgrade Util on the old ROM first to capture the .sbu file which is required to restore to the new ROM
what app can i use to get the SBU file?
i have SPB Backup installed, do i just do the entire backup? wouldnt the registries affect the new rom when i restore?
warning: SPB backup can only restore to the exact ROM version you are using now. it won't restore to other ROMs...

Can you tell me where is the upgrade util? I always re-install everything, which also scares me not to make many ROM upgrades.
thanks

How to access to Vending Database (Content Provider)

Hi guys!!
I want to know how to access to Vending Database (Content Provider), I don´t find the Uri for accessing.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.
I'm sorry, yours is a development question and, contrary to what you might think, in this forum only half-hacks of roms are allowed and development questions should be tossed to die in Q&A.
Ok, now, seriously, I don't think google provides access to the Vending database (afaik, there's no api for market). What exactly are you trying to do?
I want to make a backup of this database for restore after wipe.
When you wipe, you don´t have a list of installed applications (installed before wipe) in "Downloads" tab. I don´t want a backup of apk´s files, I only want that market show me these the applicactions for downloads under demand.
Thanks,
MyBackup Pro do it.

Backup for root users (free) will do that also. It will save your APK's and also backup your market database to sd
Yes, I know to do it. I don´t want use Root permissions
My downloads always show what files I had downloaded before I wiped. I don't know why its not working for you. I just went from cyan's to a sense hero and had everything there listed.

Restore or backup market collection

Hi all,
When you do a flash and goto the market all your downloaded apps are gone. Is there a possibility to backup a file where the whole list of your downloaded apps are listed so you will see them in "My downloads" on the market?
or
When you have backup all the apks and install then that you can restore the link to the market so you will notify when there is a update of the application?
cheers,

[Q] Sampsung Fascinate OEM Apps or APK's

I know there will be someone saying that this is already posted but I have not seen as with multiple searches and extensive readings.
Can all the Apps from the SCH-I500 be posted somewhere and I mean the APK's or zipped versions on this site? With all the flashing there are a few from the original that are very good, then they are lost. Or an area to teach us how to abstract them from the ROM's we found them on or the originals. Or link's to where they can be found?
Like Desk Cradle etc. I have flashed many of the ROMs like the Froyo (Kaos), Super Clean, DJ05, DL09 the new Red recovery kernel etc. but always there was something good from the original that I can not find or wished I had back.
Also, is there a moderator on the site that can get the non Fascinate stuff out of here or move? Like Eris, Telus, I9000 we are confused enough without keeping it pure - Samsung Fascinate SCH-I500.
Thaks for any help or suggestions,

You can back your apps up with titanium back up or astro file manager

Skillz360 Thank you for your reply.
But Lucy please Esplain!
I have used Titanium and backed up some but as usual the wrong ones the VZW crap.
Do I just backup all that I like or would be interesed in? Then when I reload Titanium on the new ROM the apps will be there for reinstall? Also in Astro all I see are the APK's I downloaded from Market or not the OEM's. And I am rooted.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

use Titanium to backup what ever apps you want and you can just use it to restore the app or apps that you want on a new rom ect.. yes when you reinstall Titanium on a new rom you can just load your app or app that you want
If you go into Rom Manager, under sonofskywalker3's section, most of the stock apps can be reinstalled from there.
Thanks
I have seen under ROM Manager but they do not have many and does anyone know where they go when you use ROM Manager or are they only temporary?
norm883
Actually as well as I'm aware, by default Titanium Backup does not backup system apks, it only makes a backup of system app data. I use Root Explorer, go into the /system/app/ folder and manually select and copy over desired apks onto the sdcard.
Look for stock deodexed ROMs, you can unzip them and get your desired apks onto your sdcard, and use Root Explorer to copy them into your /system/app/ folder.
If you need any of the system APKs let me know. I have most of them available in deodexed form.... I believe from the DJ05 leak. But should work on whatever. Just let me know which ones you need and I can send you a link for them.

they will be installed in system/app like normal when you pull them down in RM

Rom apps

On Illuminance, there are some included apps (Polaris office, etc.)
If I switch to another similar ROM, another kk4 ROM or any that is compatible, and I want to use that app, is the best way to "bring" it is to back it up with Tibu? (presume it will be available to restore on the new ROM?) or is it better to extract the .apk from the ROM?
Thanks
Do both..if the tibu restore gives you issues, just install the apks.

My suggestion is to install the apks directly, will save you lot of pain.
