Hi guys!
So I got my Samsung Captivate a week ago and unlocked it straight away.
My question is now:
If the new android Froyo 2.2 comes out, and I flash it, will my unlockcode stay the same?
cause I read here on the forums that if you update to 2.2 your unlock code will disappear!
From what i have read just write the code down. Then your good to go.

Until the official Froyo release comes out, no one knows for sure. Every answer is speculation based on the leaked Beta Froyo, or the i9000 release. The AT&T Captivate release may be different - since all AT&T phones are locked initially. But then again it may not be different. No one knows.
Thanks, I think that I will just write down my unlock code for now and wait a few weeks after the official release is out for gaining some knowledge about this subject..
anyone has more information about this?

Greetings!
New to the Android scene and full of questions.
How can you determine from where did your G1 originate?
I recently bought an unlocked G1 from UK trough eBay (can't buy it where I'm from) but the installed version reads "kila-user 1.1 PLAT-RC33 126989 ota-rel-keys, release keys" which looks to me more like an USA version.
I would need it for a project, so my goal is to update it to Cupcake, either HTC's dev release or manual official T-Mobile update (once I'm sure of which release).
Big thanks for any pointers.

You have a US version phone. I'm not sure what else you are asking for. If your wanting to root it and load one of the custom roms here is the info.

Wasn't sure if it is an US or an UK version.
Thanks for the confirmation!
Hi all,
My friend is having Nexus One with Android 2.1 update-1 build EPF30, bought in Vodafone Germany .After following general steps to update to Froyo we get the error E:signature verification failed message as well. from a bit of googling it looks like this upgrade “only” works for build number ERE27. Is there an alternative for the phones with build number EPF30 to upgrade to ERF50 or latest Froyo without rooting or unlocking?
TIA
Bump bump bump
wait or root it
Hi there
I live in AUS where they aren't out yet so i imported one and it turned out to be an EPF30 model aswell.
And after looking around im pretty sure there is no Superboot for this build yet BUT i was able to do the other option from this post to get mine rooted and get Kang o rama installed.. (for some reason Cyanogen would not work for me.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636795
But you should also know that it is now possible to root your nexus without unlocking the bootloader / voiding your warranty (i wish this came out just a few days earlier so i could have done it)

Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Has any one in the uk received froyo 2.2 for the uk nexus from vodafone. Is EPF21B the european nexus one and will it receive. The update? Thanks for your help in advance

Since the Nexus is completely unbranded, we have no part in the firmware development or approval process.
Google will be pushing updates directly to handsets in a phased deployment as normal. The phased roll-out will mean that some product codes will receive updates sooner than others, however this is entirely at Google's whim, rather than ours, and is done to prevent their download servers from being overloaded.

My phone keeps dropping calls and also turning itself off....
my mail app keeps erroring and is unusable
is there a way to force my phone to update?
There has been no European froyo build yet, hence no OTA updates. I am guessing that once the American Froyo is finalised, Google will release a European build after that. Else, if you want to try it now, just unlock your bootloader, flash a custom recovery, and Paul's FRF83 ROMs.

These two links should answer most of your questions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636795
http://androidspin.com/2010/06/23/how-to-get-android-2-2-build-frf83-from-any-stock-build/
Paul's FRF83 images are stock ROMs packaged in update.zip format which can be flashed from custom recovery. You can get them here - http://android.modaco.com/content/g...-frf83-stock-rooted-deodex-superboot-repacks/
Or you can use Modaco Custom ROM, which is somewhat similar - http://android.modaco.com/content/g...or-nexus-one-with-online-kitchen-froyo-frf83/
Any Uk froyo OTA info?
Hey guys, my friend has a T-Mobile locked Galaxy S (which he doesn't want to unlock) and he is still on 2.1, I could've sworn froyo had been released but he is saying kies is showing that no update is available, I never had this issue when I used to have my galaxy s, being unlocked meant I was always using the latest fw's. Just looking for some clarification on this issue, thanks in advance. On an unrelated note I will be rejoining android tomorrow or Tuesday, I have now sold my iPhone 4 in favour of the desire HD. P.S can a mod please delete my other thread titled "Has group been released for T-Mobile UK users?" as my stupid iPhone 4 renamed froyo to group, thanks.
Yes it has.

He may need to update to the latest Kies to get it "Kies 2"
If he cannot then details of his SGS's region and current software would be useful to get an answer.

hello, I've had my HTC velocity for over a year now, i bought it already unlocked, and ever since i had it it's been running android 4.0.3 which I've now become annoyed with. and it doesn't upgrade automatically probably because its unlocked (my conclusion). I've done some digging over the year and realized that to get the upgrade i would have to root it. Problem is i have not the slightest idea of how to go about rooting it. Please help!!!
The vivid was never officially updated past 4.0.3, thats why you're not getting updates. The ROMs you see in the development forum are unofficial builds of newer android versions. Check out Albinoman887's thread for Cyanogenmod 11. Its probably the most stable current ROM we have, and it's what i've been running for quite some time.
In order to install such a ROM on your device (if you desire) you don't have to be rooted... but you will need to unlock your bootloader to allow you to flash custom ROMs. HTC makes that pretty easy, and you can refer to their website for instructions (htcdev.com/bootloader). You'll have to create an account with HTC but that's no more difficult than registering an XDA account.
