Hey there,
I am trying to help a friend with their Droid, who is getting poor battery life and lag issues. I have no familiarity with this phone, so I was wondering if someone could recommend an easy root method and what they feel is the best ROM? Thank you.

Universal one click rooter. Then install ROM Manager (free) from Market and download Shadow Rom v2. I've tried tons of ROMs and always go back to it. Fast and smooth!!
Copy the apk to phones memory card and use AndExplorer (or any file manager) to install it. Open it, tap Root. BAM! Rooted!

Hey guys,
Just installed Paragon 5.1 on my phone, and had a question...how do I reinstall stock apps? I really liked Samsung IM that shipped on the Rogers ROM, for instance - however when I try to run it after having "reinstalled" it (moved the apk to /system/app) it just says that the Seven service is unavailable. Is there an easy way to reinstall these apps on a custom ROM? Or am I outta luck?
PS. I tried searching the forums first, but searching causes an FC on my phone for some reason.
Thanks!

Actually, you seem to be in luck. In the themes & apps thread, Trusselo posted the deodexed versions of those .apk's. You should be able to drop the seven.apk in your ROM and have it work again. Here's the link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960269
Please I want to know about all those root apps for android.
Since I rooted my phone it has never been the same please help me out here
Not really sure what you are asking.

If you going out of your way to find apps that need root, your asking for trouble. Rooting is used(mostly) to gain access/more control over the file system and key areas of said file system.
The only apps I find that are useful that require root are: keep the lights on and Titanium BU
Try these apps:
-Voodoo Control
-Voltage Control
-ROM Manager
-SetCPU
That should be most of what you need. And please read up on those apps before you use them and brick your phone. Cheers.
Root explorer or other Root file explorer are great for fast mod/theming.

You won't be able to use Voodoo control unless you have a Voodoo enabled kernel, nor will you be able to use Voltage Control unless you have an OC/UV kernel (same with SetCPU)...

What is really cool about rooting your phone is the ability to customize it.
Go to the Developement section and read up on flashing ROMs onto your phone. Not only can you change the look, but the developers of those ROMs have made the phones snappier by tweaking them and have cleaned them up by removing bloatware. You'll see quite a performance increase.
You may become addicted to trying out many ROMs as they are fun to try out. READ UP ON IT FIRST, SO YOU DON'T MESS UP YOUR PHONE!

Check the voodoo control app. It is now compatible with some STOCK AND ROOTED devices. Including the captivate.
Sent from something, somewhere.

"Cache Cleaner NG"

"Root explorer"

I was running Cognition for a while, and found in market a "quickoffice for captivate". Installed it, used it, worked great.
Re-flashed to Continuum, which is an I9000 based ROM, and now a search for quickoffice for captivate gives me nothing.
Is there some setting in the market based on hardware ID or somethign that's blocking me finding this stuff? If so, what are my options? Some app that enables different markets, or changes some string somewhere for identifying the type of phone? Or what?
Thanks for any tips.
Download galaxy s tools and rub the market fix. (it blocks apps that are not "compatible" with your phone but the fix lets you see all ) hope this helps

Or you could go to the Cognition zip at system/app and copy the quickoffice.apk to your new rom.
or just use this apk
I tried the SGS tools market fix. Didn't change anything. I still can't find it. I'll try the apk. I just was hoping Ii wasn't missing out on other good stuff because of market limitations.

I have got Samsung galaxy mini GT-S5570I yesterday. Its a great, cheap phone, but i have some question. The color are terrible. If i want to play some games i cant, because its havent much color, even the angry birds have more color than the phone. Its the probem of all this phone or only of mine? If of all can i somehow fix it? How? And my second question is: Can i root this phone the same method like the normal GT-S5570? Or i need some custom method.
Thanks
Hi ,
Currently not. custom roms does not yet exist, and ODIN to reinstall the firmware in case of trouble... It's better you wait a bit to be able to use more of your S5570i...
I think I already have root for your model.
you can try to find it , be careful..
And on the screen, you can try lowering the screen brightness settings, the screen of our mini are really bad for me ..
Edit:
Root is there

For GB based roms you need tools you can get from playmarket.
ICS/JB roms need special tools to do this afaik.

Help me - USB Tethering
Someone help me !!!
I am using Jusada Original ICS Final on Samsung Galaxy Ace. I need USB tethering.
Can someone suggest me a way to added the functionality in this rom ??
plz don't suggest me apps such as PDANET or Clockworkmod tether.
I have searched the entire forum bt couldn't find a permanent solution. Any help is highly appreciated.
simple solution is just move back to stock rom......there are no....other options available....i tried many roms...but none of them work...its better to have stock rom and update kernel for memory hack/battery extender...
Try the rom on the link on the previous page. USB tethering works. I'm sure it can make your breakfast too but I haven't found that option in the settings!

And i will give a try to Adrenaline rom mentioned above.

1) Is there a way to add USB Tethering as a update/patch which can be flashed using recovery ?
2) Hw to remove scripts added to the rom ?
3) Hw to move/remove system apps in Stocklite 7.1 ?
Plz help with answers or links. And do warn me if i am posting these ques in a wrong forum.

1) I don't think it's as simple as that. If it was easy all roms would have working usb tethering.
2) search for the script. They usually have their own threads. If you can find it and find a flashable zip file for the script then unzip it and see where the changes are, for example in init.d folder(/system/etc/init.d). Then you can delete those files from your phone and reboot. If you are unsure about this, tell me the script you mean and I will look it up for you. Make a backup first!
3. As the name suggests, stock lite is built to have as few system apps as possible. Make a backup first because some system apps you think are bloatware might actually be vital. If you mess up your phone by deleting important apps then just restore your last good backup in recovery.
So to remove system apps, use titanium backup or similar app manager to remove it, if you don't have titanium then delete them from /system/app folder on your phone. If you want to be safe then freeze the app first to see if it makes any difference to your phones operation. If the ROM is odexed you will need to delete it's corresponding odex file in the same folder.
If you want to add system apps then paste into this folder (deodex ROM only) and change permissions to (rw-r--r--).
To move system apps (I assume you mean to a user app?) depends on a few things. If you have a good app manager like titanium backup use that. If the app is on the play store then remove it from system and reinstall from the play store and it will be a user app. If not then move it from /system/app to /data/app (depending on your preferred method of getting around the limited internal space on the ace, like link2sd, cronmod, etc. your user apps could be somewhere else) and ensure the permissions stay the same. (rw-r--r--)
I hope this helps and I'm sure that if this answer to your questions can be improved or corrected, someone will do that!
Best of luck!
