Its been sitting for a couple months. I dont care if i destroy the phone its already broken. Im wanting t do this as a project to learn jtag. Can anyone explain the process and what i need to do exactly.
Thanks
What do you mean by the battery popping out? Can't you put it back it?

From what I understand, if you lose power while flashing a radio or flash the wrong radio it bricks the phone (making it unusable). The device may power up but won't be usable. I remember seeing something about reviving a bricked Droid/Milestone on Gizmodo, using a hacked apart USB cable, and wedging the exposed wires between the battery contacts on the battery and the phone. However, I don't know the details, just what I remember seeing. Might be a solution, or at least a lead.
From what I know of if you see the red light its still hope I think I remember a while back someone posted a thread in how to bring back a bricked hero something about battery pulling and wall charging a lot so search the threads for that article hope this helps good luck

OK well i was installing Darkys latest rom. I was at the point where i was in
download mode and odin. While odin was loading files the usb slipped out of the
phone because nothing besides the stock usb cord happens to stay firmly in the
charging port on this phone. This is the 2nd time this happed but when it
happened this time my phone just stopped working and by stop working i mean i
get absolutely no picture on the screen. nothing happens when its plugged into
power cord or usb cord. nothing. tried holding all 3 buttons in tons of times and
nothing.
Im out of warranty and got no insurance. I did get att to give me 180 credit cuz
i threatened to cancel. so if i cant fix this im gonna use a crappy prepaid phone
for the time being. If the SGS2 doesnt come out by march then ill probably get
an axtrix even tho i would rather get SGS2.
So please does anyone know of anything i can try?? i'm probably gonna goto an att store and try a new battery. Any suggestions would be appreciated???
You tried pulling everything, plug in usb, hold rocker, put back in batt? My understanding is, if you have the bad luck of that cable coming out while loading the boot loader then you r indeed SOL.

Double spacing isn't necessary. We aren't going to grade your post.
You hopefully now understand that flashing to stock isn't the way to avoid problems; it's the way to create big ones.
Try removing the battery, wait a couple of minutes, plug in USB, hold volume up+down, while holding up+down insert the battery and see if that gets you back into download mode.

I tried all that. Ive probably flashed every single rom in the development section of the forum.
If it gets unplugged while doing an update then usually it displays the phone..!..computer picture and you can still get into download mode from there. I'm getting nothing tho.
the reason i think it could be the battery is because it may have been pretty close to dying which is stupid for flashing when it was close to dead but i wanted to hurry up because i had to leave the house. i'm wondering if since the software on there now is corrupt would that make the phone unable to charge. thats why i want to try a new battery

just tried what you recommended and nothing happened. tried it a few times. Thanks for helping. I really hope the SGS2 comes out in march. I am not wasting my upgrade on an old phone and i dont really want the atrix

would a jig really help me in this situation???
I don't think a jig will help. Usually it is used when your buttons never worked.... but hey... only a couple bucks vs the cost of a new phone.

yeah i know my buttons work, i just cant get my phone to turn on at all. also tried multiple chargers and usb cables. I think i'm screwed. im hoping someone on here heard of this problem before but ive never read anything about it on here before.
Using a POS phone till the SGS2 comes out is gonna suck
anyone know anything?
I will be trying another battery today.
Besides a jig, I have nothing else for you sorry.
But on a different spectrum, if you do get a new phone, dont get the atrix, it is the worst phone out of all the phones coming out on att. Get the inspire our the infuse if you dont want to hold a dinner plate to your head.

There is no guarantee, but it certainly could
juts tried a new a battery and still nothing.
I'm now rocking a Nokia 2320.
SGS2 I guess but i think i'm gonna be waiting a long time.
this nokia is so bad i dont think im going to make it thru the end of the month
Try the jig. It can not make things worse for you and MAY actually work for your issue.

phone needs to be able to power on for a jig to work.
how are you out of warranty? (besides the custom rom) the phone has a 1 year warranty and it is not been on the market that long.
if the phone *happened* to be *dammaged* in a way that they would never notice AND would NEVER be able to read the memory (with out spending thousands of dollars), THEY WOULD NEVER KNOW you flashed custom rom and voided your warranty. they would try to test it, nope, broken, NEXT...
and SGS2 expected in june

yeah your right i still am in warranty but 2 weeks after i got the phone i dropped it and the screen cracked but the cracks not that bad. So i cant warranty the device because the crack. I did get att to give me $180 credit on my bill. $30 of every 6 month.
Ive heard the international version of the SGS2 will be out long before the att version will be. So i might use my upgrade on an iphone 4 and then sell it and buy the international SGS2.
what do you guys think about that idea?

What do you guys think we will get me the most profit towards the int version of SGS2??
any opinions would be appreciated.
thanks guys
Ok i know there is probably something already out there but im REALLY FREAKING OUT. I updated to 1.8 and throughout the day it killed my battery and i got home and was gonna flash back to 1.5 and while RSD was flashing it failed. I then realized i forgot one of the most important steps... To have a full battery.. i think my phone died while flashing... is it bricked? If so im f************cked... please respond.
If i did brick it, is there anyway i can contact moto support and get a new device?
Edit: I unplugged it from my pc and pulled the battery and plugged it back in. My pc recognizes it as a USB Mass storage device... is there still hope for me?
Ok so after sitting here for a while my phone booted back up i did notice that RSD lite managed to create a image thing? Idk what that is so im just guessing that maybe thats what saved me cause i could have sworn i read that it would for sure brick your device. Run on sentence. Spare me grammar Nazis. Anyways the phone is back up and running and you can be damn sure im going to charge this all the way before i try anything like that again. thanks for the quick responses and sorry for making a new thread for this... feel like i spazzed out if a mod could remove this thread?

I cant answer the other question because I dont know, but if you have insurance or whatever its called on your phone if it really does turn out to be bricked then you could have it replaced using that... (from what I heard if you do have that you only get like 1 or 2 replaces before they wont let you do it again for the year just an fyi)
and I mean insurance through AT&T not moto

Thanks, i didn't buy the insurance for my phone... Is there anyway i might be able to tell a little white lie?
Only one way to tell...
Charge the battery fully and turn it on. Try reflashing the sbf and see what happens.

if it can see that, can you get it into the RSD mode by holding down the + volume button?
Have you tried letting it charge on mains for a while? Might get charge and be able to flash.

I would first try and re-flash it... but if it does not work then I leave that up to you and your conscious about getting insurance for it after its already messed up and stuff... but I would suggest even if you do get it to work, you may want to invest in that if you plan on doing a lot of developing on it or anything like that, which gives you a chance to brick your phone.
I was recently a witness / "person of interest" in a criminal case, and I willingly gave my Nexus one to them. When they gave it back it wouldn't turn on!!!
I asked if I could claim for it and the detective replied "If you can prove it was us"
(so basically, a **** off then )
I understand they probably hook it up to a machine to suck all the data off it... but is it possible they fried it on purpose to stop me from looking at possible 'evidence' on the phone? (I haven't done anything wrong by the way)
My Nexus was running Cyanogen mod and Mcaffee anti theft software , so perhaps that messed with their system?
When I plug my nexus in, the charge light comes on but the power button does nothing... is there anyway to recover from this?
Thanks!
You might just have a case of dead power button. Try the battery trick.
Yes the dead power button seems to be the most legitimate issue. I don't think they would be able to fry the board. To do the battery trick, take off the case, plug the device into a power supply, then immediately slip the battery back in and the device should boot. This is a common issue for the N1. If this is not the case, then I would be surprised.
EDIT: Wow, criminal case. I would be on pins and needles if the police had my N1 lol. Too much bad **** on mine
Dude why give police your nexus in first place. Try the battery trick

i wouldnt give them my phone lol your problem sounds like the power button is ded the battery trick should work if that is the problem
you have "f*ck the police' by nwa on your phone? might of pissed them off so they fried your phone.

Hey guys I wanted to know if my captivate is bricked or just broken. I bricked it awhile back with a bad Odin flash when I was a major noob and had forgotten about it but since I now have the soldering skills to apply unbrickablemod I thought I'd give it a try. So today I took it out and out of habit plugged it into my charger. When i did that the screen stayed black, but it gave off a feint glow. When I took the battery out a white line flashed accross the screen and then the screen went back to its usual black. Does this mean something is wrong with the phone hardware? I don't remember it doing that before although I haven't worked with it in awhile. Thanks a lot. I'd be really cool if I could actually bring this thing back from the dead

Uf u have no signs of life now, even when plugged into a wall charger, then it is hard bricked.

Its hard to say, the glow could have been an electrical surge. If it was only soft brick you would see an image of some sort. On another note, the unbrickable mod is sweet. I have it done to my vibrant. I hard b it with improper Odin use. Mobile tech videos did it for me. The funny thing is I've never had to use unbrick software but it gives me peace of mind when flashing. I looked into doing it to my cappy. The resistors are even closer on it than the vibe, I am not that comfortable doing the work myself. Good luck

I flashed Android N Preview as a secondary ROM using MultiROM, everything worked perfectly, no issues what so ever.
After a day when I was listening to music using Spotify the phone suddenly switched of abruptly with battery over 90%
Since then I couldn't able to switch on the phone again.
No bootloader, no Recovery, Its not booting at all. No response from the phone.
I think it is dead.
Changed the Battery to new one.
Not worked. No sign of anything.
When I plugged in the charger the LED light is on, but I don't think its charging phone is not warm while it is plugged in.
In fact it felt like so chill.
So, I don't know how to recover my phone.
BTW, the phone's bootloader unlocked, rooted stock ROM as the primary one.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks guys.
Did you try to press the power button for 15-20 seconds? That's a weird problem.
The same happened to me.,and my phone is stock and locked. Its bricked. Nothing we tried helped

the back plastic sheet is held on with adhesive, I would apply heat first then work it open with a tool like isesamo or maybe a thin credit card or guitar pick. underneath there are 20 torx iirc can't remember size and another plastic shell with many holes in it. this cover, the wireless charging coil, and battery are adhered together i think and there are two small rubber covers for the power button (top) and battery (bottom). remember to disconnect your ribbon cables and treat them carefully.
the real problem imo lies in reassembly. i have repaired many and never feel they are the same as they came from the factory mostly because the back cover doesn’t re-adhere well. invest in some quality 3m adhesive, even a pre cut if you can manage.
Yeah done everything I have in my power nothing works.
Asked service center to check they said the phone is dead.
To get it repaired it will cost 3500 for me, they said.
Damn it.
Don't know what to do.
Now they said that the motherboard is dead, I need to change it inorder to get it work again.
Is it possible like this kind of problem occurs?
I was in Android N listening to Spotify
Putting a pre release OS on a phone, especially using a hack like multi rom, was indeed a recipe for disaster..
I'm certain that your partitions somehow got corrupted, and that results in a un bootable phone
Hopefully, someone reading this thread, who is thinking about doing something suicidal like that will learn from your mistake, but your phone is toast, unless you can get it J-Tagged, which might not even be available for your N6
I've heard the term j-tag a lot before. What does that mean

My phone is officially dead. Service center said that the motherboard is weak and is impossible to repair and only fix is to replace the whole motherboard to a newer one. That would cost me a lot like i could get a new for it and they even suggested me to exchange this phone to a newer one.
And now i got Nexus 6P and I love it so much.
But God i really miss my Nexus 6.
Thanks for the help and suggestion here.
Long live xda.
I couldn't resist to unlock bootloader. Flash multirom and stock root and xposed.
That's the heaven, i can't live without.
I have done it all after i opened the 6P from its box. Lol.
May be i am fastest one to do it.
Thanks xda and friends from it.
