hi guys (and girls!)
i searched for a post that explains a bit about my problem but i couldnt found anything so i decided to open one by my self
well i was patient when it was published that froyo will be delayed from Sep. to end of Oct.
but now when it's finally out the Kies doesn't give me the option to update it
does anyone know what should i do to update it? official/officially?
sorry for the noobish question
and by the a way i have a i9000xxjf5 firmware on my sgs
Moved to Q&A as not development
What i understand so have Samsung removed that firmware and delay it to November

Can we use FW for the I897 in Samsung I9000?
Sorry but I really want a froyo better that the JPC, because the JPC with the lagfix is to sloooooow sometimes (ramdon).
How do u know it is better build than JPC
Sent from my JM7 with voodoo fix
I just want to try it something better that JPC.
I897UCJH7 is older than JPC so chances is small it have any more to offer...
Thanks for your fast reply...

asked Samfirmware if we would get another build soon this is the answer i got
"SamFirmware: @anilkuj i think this is a PIT problem all new 2.2 roms have those problems..."
http://www.twitter.com/SamFirmware/status/22737858065
i asked them that I9000 froyo dint have similar issues and this was their answer
"SamFirmware: @anilkuj XXJPC have this problem to. thats why we also skip this from our site."
http://www.twitter.com/SamFirmware/status/22738228408
so now my question is , is there anyway anyone can fix this ? or do we just have to wait for another build, then how did the JPC froyo work in ODIN finally ?
I think it's probably best to wait, unless you like to live dangerously
I flashed back to 2.1 from JPC today because it was becoming unstable, but fun while it lasted!
This release is for I987 (Captivate Tablet), not for I897.
It is not supposed to work one any other platform.

Well I heard the the official Samsung froyo would be coming in early December, at least according to the op in the vanilla captivate thread over in the AD section. According to him he had talked to a Samsung rep at the Galaxy Tab unveiling, I think, but I could be wrong.
Hello,
I have this phone and after trying to update it thru Kies I get this message:
This device's version cannot be updated I see also this numbers in the same window:
PDA:JM6 / PHONE::JM1 / CSC:JM4
I'm really new to this and I simply wanted to have Froyo on my phone. Is this possible? I really don't know what this number means. I live in Slovenia (Europe).
Thank you for any kind of advise.

Wait for Official Froyo to be released...You should get it...
However, If you want it right now, than use Ref. heck and see if that gives you...I am using JP6 Froyo , updated via Kies.

its a reg hack and froyo has been removed from kies. Read the android development sub forum for details of getting Froyo on your SGS
Today I learned that captivate got a official froyo update. But I have no idea how to update. Does anyone know how to get the update?

Try this (official from Samsung): http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa/jsp/faqs/faqs_view_us.jsp?SITE_ID=22&PG_ID=2&PROD_SUB_ID=557&PROD_ID=558&AT_ID=368733
http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa...ID=2&PROD_SUB_ID=557&PROD_ID=558&AT_ID=368733
That should give you everything you need
There is already a thread about this. Please search before opening a new thread. Thread closed
As the title states, did Bell ever release Gingerbread (2.3) for the SGS?
I did a search, and I checked out the "similar threads" that pop up when posting this...but I didn't find it.
I'd connect to Kies to find out...but for some reason Kies never connects to my phone...I have no idea why. My phone says connected. I use LauncherPRO, but I set TW as the default before connecting...no dice.
Anywho, I'm really only looking for the answer to my first question. If they did release it, then I might be looking to find out why I can't connect.
Thanks in advance.
Yep, it's out
IMHO, if you want to upgrade without issues, do a full reset first.
Thanks.
Can I get one more confirmation please...before I wipe my phone and find out it's NOT true?
see any posts discussing UCKG3 which is Bell 2.3.3 -- a thread exists on updating and there are postings of the firmware within the thread by Ramad I believe
you should check out darkyrom
supper easy to flash and faster than UK3
10.2 RE via Odin will be your 1st flash
then 10.2.2 from the darky app.
If you want even faster, try the JVT beta Darky ROM
I am trying out the JVT beta right now and loving it
