HTC Hub App Trouble - HD7 General

Got my HD7 yesterday morning and was really happy with it, even more so when I found out that the HTC Hub contained links to apps which retained some of the functionality I was used to on my HD2 such as Flashlight and a phone enhance functionality app which enabled the ringtone to get quieter when it detected it was picked up etc.
But upon trying to start these apps I was directed to the MarketPlace which attempted to download them, except it kept coming up with this error: "Can't play or download. There's a problem with the licence"
After re-attempting several times I found that around 1pm yesterday the apps disappeared altogether and that the HTC Apps section on the Marketplace is now completely empty.
Is anyone else getting this problem?

didnt have those options on my hd7, im guessing its not a problem but more of a mistake htc put links there. i would say its just a waiting game, i know from my desire that i have got too that it takes awhile for the apps to appear and some of them are definitely worth it

They were gone when I looked. Hopefully they'll be back!

remove first
I had this too after it tried to upgrade them, just go to the programs list press and hold on each of them to get the pop up menu to uninstall. Then go back to marketplace and install again.

Yeah, I noticed that this morning they have re-appeared (yay!!).
Only problem I'm having with the HTC apps now is just with the one I really wanted - the 'Attentive Phone' app which brings back some the HTC Senseness that you didn't see from my old HD2 (such as quiet ring at pick up, louder in the pocket and automatic loudspeaker when phone is screenside down on the table).
It downloads. It installs. But try to run it? Nah. You select the program the screen goes black, thinks for a second, and chucks you straight back into the programs list. Dammit.
I sent an email to HTC yesterday about their app trouble but have yet to receive a reply. I just hope that they know that this particular app still doesn't work. Although it is nice to have Flashlight and the other fancy ones back and up and running!

Attentive Phone installs and runs ok for me; and the features work as advertised.
However the flashlight app can't install, and the "love" app (god knows what this is) won't run after it has been installed.
There's also the Lists app (for groceries, todo lists etc), and Notes is there too. I find the Microsoft Shopping List app is better though.

I've got all to install and only the flashlight app doesn't run. I'll try uninstalling and re-installing.
Update: uninstalling worked fine but on attempting to re-download I got an error '8000ffff'. I discovered by accident that if you press and hold the app in the 'downloads' screen, it gives you the options: 'retry' or 'delete'. Retry worked and the download and install completed correctly. Unfortunately the flashlight app still doesn't work tho!

First of all to fix error 8000ffff in windows phone you have to go to “Start”
Now in order to open the app list just swipe your screen from left to right.
Now this list gives you the entry of valid apps as well as those apps which are downloaded automatically due to error 8000FFFF.
Slide to any of the invalid app and press and hold it in order to get the option and press “uninstall”.
Similarly you have to uninstall all the invalid apps that are downloaded automatically due to the error 8000FFFF.
You’ve successfully completed the task to fix error 8000ffff in windows phone

i have a problem with ma window phone when im trying detting up my window live id accounts..its need an activation code to finish setup plz can i obtain an activation code fot htc hd7t9292

1) You have posted in the wrong forum.
2) Market works fine in 2.2 unless you flashed one of the pre-release builds.

I'm having the same, or very similar problems. Basically, I'm seeing paid apps, and my purchases, but I'm not seeing the "Top Paid" tab, nor is the Market acting in any sane or rational way. For example, I install an app, and the notification bar will say downloading, then installing, then the notification that it installed. In the Market download window, though, I see it download, then switch to installing, but never get beyond that.
What started all this with me was this. Using Linda File Manager, I uninstalled a couple of apps (was trying out the feature since I was in there). In this case, it was Google Earth (don't really use it), and a Pirate game that I never grocked. Anyway, in the Market they wouldn't leave my list in the Downloads, so I wiped the cache and data in the Market app in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.
After that, all my apps appeared as uninstalled in the downloads window, and the issue with installation started. First thing I did was try and reinstall all the apps, and ended up with a huge list of apps that were installed, but were marked as still installing by the market. Killing the market app cleared out the hung install progress bars. The other thing that started happening was that not all of my installed apps appeared in my download list. KO Boxing, for example was on the featured list as upgradable, but it wasn't in my download list to upgrade.
Ultimately, what I decided to do was wipe the phone and see what happened. After wipe, I logged in and FRF91 didn't restore my apps like it had in the past. In fact, the market was exactly the same as it was before the wipe, with all my apps showing as free or purchased. Installing issue was also the same. Now, I know that Google backs up the settings, so I thought maybe that had something to do with it. I wiped again, but in the configuration process post-wipe, I selected for Google to not restore from backup (hit menu in the setup when you are entering your username/password). This brought me through the process much quicker, but with no change in the market function.
So, I'm still without a "Top Paid" tab, nor with a all together sane Download window. It's frustrating the heck out of me, and I'm about to go back to whatever the 2.1-r1 release was (ERE27?) and see if that makes any different.
The ROM I'm running is the FRF91 full release from lox_dev:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715799
If T-Mobile is doing the OTA's to FroYo from 2.1-r1, then maybe I'll let it do it's own thing today and then see if that fixes it. Ugh.

The above snipped sections are my story too.
Updated last week manually from ERE27 to FRF85b to FRF91 using the official stock clients each time. Non rooted N1. I spent 6 hours on Friday night trying to sort this..
I've got posts up on the Google Nexus One forums also and am holding where I am for a definitive fix. It's very frustrating though..
Go to menu>applications> magage applications> all apps> market then force quit and clear data and whatever else is in there.

I tried that on Friday night. Once I'd done that, none of my installed apps showed in the Downloads section.
That's why I did a full wipe and set the phone back up. Luckily I was still able to find all my apps, including the purchased ones. However the missing 'Top Paid' button and slow market performance persisted.
So, for fun, I pushed back to ERE27 (2.1-r1) and same issue. No "Top Paid" in the Market, and issues with installation. This is complete wipe, nothing installed on the phone after imaging.
I let it upgrade to FRF91, which didn't change anything. I'm now pretty convinced that whatever this is is completely account related on the Google server side of things, and it needs to be sorted out by them
Guess I'll have to figure out who to contact for support from Google :/

I'm working the Google angle also plus have posts on several forums and watches on more.
Please can you keep this thread updated with your progress and I'll do the same.

I've made contact with Google via email and this is now being investigated.
I'm sending them a summary of the problems I've been having and pointing them at various threads both here and in the Market so that they can see how widespread this problem is.
I've also tried a full hard reset and cache wipe without luck. My belief is that this is something that Google need to sort server-side, so I'm done with my wiping and reinstalling for now...

Looks like this has now been fixed server-side.
I got my 'Top Paid' tab back this morning - Yay!

Need a little help with rooting please

I have started the rooting of my NC using the auto-nooter-2.12.25.img. I appear to be rooted (mostly). I got youtube but gmail did not sync. I opened up Market and accepted Terms and Service. I have softkeys but tapping any of the soft keys just shows a message "Unable to execute as root". In the Market, the search magnifying glass is grayed out. I have selected an app to DL & it says "starting to download" but doesn't seem to be doing anything. I do have wi-fi on and am connected to the internet. Have no clue what to do from here except somehow I need softkeys to do something other than give that message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: On rebooting, softkeys now has been allowed superuser permissions & seems to work. Now I can use it to search the Market. But where are the apps I DLed and how do I get to them? They are not showing in "Extras".
Edit-2: I think I've got it. Now have ADW Launcher working. Just a learning curve.

It has been awhile since I rooted. I cant remember if the auto-nooter package came with the old or new market(I think it was the old). Seems like I had issues at first and upgraded to the new. May try to clear the market cache first. Here is a thread on the new market.

You need to reboot before it shows up in extras. Or install a different launcher and it shows up instantly.
Can you use Google Talk? If the app is stuck at downloading, most likely you can't connect with Google Talk. Open up ports 5222 and 443 on your firewall and see if it works.

[Q] help...stuck at setup accounts

long story short, my bro did somethin w/ my phone & it stopped working...only worked shortly after battery pulls
so i factory reset and it works but im stuck at setup accounts and it keeps looping when i set up gps and goes back to backup assistant. Any way to get by this? the error says My Accounts (process com.motorola.setup) has stopped
also, i know the phone is working cuz i can get online(by using voice serch), pull notif bar down and go into wifi, gmail, & texts, etc
anyone???
10 char...
Do you have the desk dock? If you do, plug it in, and go into productivity mode. There is an app drawer there. Go to the market, and install your launcher of choice. Actually, if you do voice search, look for a launcher pro apk. That'll work too.
anyone got a solution? please help.. even i am stuck at the same spot... dont know what app's i need to RE-install...
thanks
If you can get to your dialer (I had to use the Visual Voicemail setup to pull it up, then when it closes back to setup accounts, I held down home to get to the recent apps screen, select dialer from there) use the mic button to access voice commands. Say "go to market" it will pull up market. Download a different launcher, and then when you hit home, it will give you the choice to go back into Setup or your new launcher. Go to the launcher. You can take it from there...
Was the phone rooted? If so - did you remove any apps from /system/app?
Yes and yes. I had backed them up with TiBu, but the restore didn't work as planned so I found a dump of the system/app folder here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-3-hacks/167677-removing-bloatware-2.html#post1705285
yea i figured it out by trial & error Sat with a lil help from techdigital on another forum...altho i hadnt removed anything...stupid ass setuo apk lol
that helps... yay.
By the way if you tap each of the corners of android welcome screen starting from the top left (haven't tested on d3 but works on others) in order it bypasses setup altogether.

[Q] Unable to uninstall new attentive phone app

I have a tmous hd7 running 7712. HTC recently put out an attentive phone app that integrates into the settings menu of the hd7. Once the app finishes downloading, it disappears from the app list and a new settings category called attentive phone is created. Is there any way to remove the integrated app once installed? Long pressing the setting does not work.
Why u want to do that?
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Personally, I don't use any of the settings in it. The menu gets in the way, takes a bit longer to load than other settings, and feels tacked on. Besides, given that putting your app in the settings menu merely requires modifying the hubtype in WMAppManifest.xml, developers or carriers could concievably write crapware apps that are unable to be uninstalled. We should at least have the freedom to uninstall the application

If you don't use it then why did you install it to begin with? lol. Also, its completely out of way, being in the settings menu. By far a better implementation that having it clog up the app list.
There is no official way to remove it. It needs to installed again, but without the modified hubtype, so that it'll appear in the regular app list by which it can then be uninstalled normally.
forget me, im an idiot
How does it slow down ur system? I don't get it, works fine for me.... This is reserved API, you cant use it to put apps in the menus, its only for oem. Get over it or do hard reset.

I need to uninstall it because I've installed it twice
There are 2 HTC Attentive Phone in my Setting now
I have the same problem. It shows up twice in settings. It happened for me when an update for attentive phone came through marketplace. I updated and next think know, I have two links in settings.

[Q] HTC One AT&T - Can't install 3rd party apps even when enabled in settings

Ok so this is weird as hell, and i've already called HTC about this and they provided a little bit of help.
First, this is my first official Android handset (Why the hell did I wait so long omg?) after kicking Apple to the curb, so I am still learning all the tricks and shortcuts, but I have a fairly good knowledge as to how the OS works now.
My Issue is I am unable to install 3rd party apps. I have the APK downloaded, I have the option in settings to allow 3rd party apps to install, and when I try to install it takes me to the install screen showing me what the app will have access to, and has cancel and install at the bottom. Cancel works, as well as show info, but the install button does nothing. I've tried from the download section, as well as ASTRO File Manager.
HTC Mention double checking to make sure third party app install is enabled (I can't even get to the install screen otherwise so it obviously is) and they mentioned to do a soft-restart by holding down the power button until it completely reboots.
Here is the kicker, after doing the soft-restart for the first time, I was able to install the Humble Indie Bundle Beta App. Worked perfectly fine. But now that I have downloaded the games from that App, I am back to the same issue before where I can't install the APK's and the soft-restart isn't fixing the issue.
I've goggled the crap out of this and haven't come across really anything like this, except some mention that AT&T Blocks third party apps, but it looks like that was on older HTC phones, and since I was able to install 1 third party app, I don't think that's the case. Any help would be appreciated!
*********** TLR SOLUTION ************
If you can't install 3rd party apps, after having checked the option in settings, remove the "Google Settings" app, and then run your installs. If you are using a new install for the first time, pick Android Installer and not Verify and Install to avoid issues. Scumbag Google.
Re-install Google Settings at your own risk afterwards.

Google recently installed a new "installer" package from the store. I think it was called "verify and install". Anyway, the first time I tried to install from the Amazon store, it asked me which installer to use - Android or the new google installer. I chose the second program (always). After that my programs would not install. I had to remove that program and then the next time I made sure that I selected the default Android installer.
I don't know where the new installer came from. I didn't ask for it to be installed.
Anyway, check your apps list and see if that is installed.

Just searched all apps installed for both install and verify. There is nothing under verify, and install comes up with Certificate Installer DemoFloPackage Installer and Package Installer, all with android icon's, so they appear to be default stuff. I'll definitely keep looking though, thank you for the tip!
Edit: Your suggestion game me the idea to see if there was another installer application on the appstore that might work. I tried Easy Installer and it still just installs using the regular (or I suppose default) installer, which leads me back to the same problem =(
Do you have any apps like Lux Autobrightness or screen filter running or similar? If you do, that is your culprit. Those apps act as an overlay to your screen (that's how they adjust brightness) and as a security feature the install button is disabled when an overlay app is being used to prevent an overlay app from being able to hit the install button. It works after a reboot because the app has not yet started running.

I do have twilight installed (Like F.Lux) but it looks like stevedebi's original assessment was correct. The app is "Google Settings" attached is a screen cap of the culprit.
I unlocked my bootloader to install cynogenmod (decided against it) and when I went to re-install all the apps, the "Android Installer" and "Verify and Install" option came up, and once I saw the icon was the same as google settings, I opened it up and there was the verify options down at the bottom.

Thank you for this info! Completely forgot about this and was getting frustrated when the install button wasn't working..
I tried the whole "deleting the screen filter" app thing. It works momentarily after I "soft" reset my phone, but only for one install.
Every time, I have to reset my phone, so something else is in the way.
My phone is not rooted, if that helps at all. And it's an AT&T galaxy s2.
