Hello XDA community. about 2 weeks ago i bought a samsung galaxy S. the store i bought the mobile from had a weird version of the samsung galaxy S , it had an android logo on the back instead of the google one. after telling the "store" that am not gonna buy this version and i want the European version , they asked me to come in an hour and the european version of the galaxy s will be here, so i did what they asked for and i came by after an hour and i found that they got me the European version with google logo on the back. i was happy , i doubled check that it's made by samsung in Korea, and i found it right under the battery. here is what i found out when i went home and starting exploring
1-Arabic user manual with the mobile and on the back of the mobile package ( box )
2- no android market ( Slide me application manger instead of the market "SAM")
3-Defult language is arabic ( found that out after doing a factory reset )
Conclusion: they just replaced the back cover of my mobile and put a European one... lol !
i suspected they would do that anyways and i actually knew they would do that , but as long as the mobile is made by samsung in Korea, the quality should be equal to that of the European version , also i don't have any kind of lags, the mobile is fine. i live in Egypt
i would like someone to help me flash an european frimware , ROM ,
or install apps that are not included on this version of my mobile. i feel very horrible after feeling that i can't get any app directly from the market , i did searches for days on google and after fighting with search results i finally installed the market on my mobile but i have only one problem , whenever i click install i get ( starting download ) and it gets stuck forever , i can't cancel as i get a crash error ( android.vending.apk stoped responding, ) and i force close it
here is the list of STOCk apps that came with the mobile , i hope someone could compare it to their version and tell me what am i missing
1-Aldiko Ebook
2-allshare
3-daily briefin
4-Gmail
5-Layar
6-Maps 7-layar , 8-SAM3.4 , Samsung apps , social hub, google talk , thinkfree office, youtube, calender, navigation, calculator, clock, voice dailler, memo, email , FM radio, write and go , taskmanger, mini diary ,voice recorder,Musicplayer, video player , sim toolkit
these are the apps i got with the mobile ( stock ) phone specs are
Roaming: Not roamed
Model Number: GT-I9000
frimware version: 2.1Update-1
Basband version : I9000JXJG2
kernal version: I9000 2.6.29
Build number: ECLAIR.JPjG8
i hope someone could help me Pimp my mobile as it is very boring , and i will be using this mobile for YEARS and i want it to be the best. btw i don't think i have 3 Botton recover enabled.Pressing Vol. Up + home+ power seems to do nothing but keep showing the ( galaxy S I9000 ) logo and it boots normally as soon as i let go.
the reason of me not installing frimwares or rooting / installing froyo Or doing ANY thing related to boot , as being afraid of Bricking mobile as the mobile hasn't been released YET officially here. so samsung technical support wouldn't do anything if i brick my phone and i don't own a Rjfbox to reflash it after bricking. :S
Thanks to every one who put time in reading this threat. iam really looking forward for someone with experience to reply or guide me.
Thanks every one , waiting for responses
sry for double posting btw
It does not look like you are really missing anything there, application wise. Just Market missing?
In the telephone dialler typ in the following where HH is the hour and mm is the minute on the clock in the status bar
*#272*HHmm#
It should show a screen with a three letter code, and potentially a long list of other codes. I am not entirely familiar with the use of this but my phone came from Portugal and had no voice search by default. I changed TPH to XEU which is supposed to be general European and my phone suddenly had the voice input.
BE AWARE that if you change the code and say INSTALL it will WIPE YOUR PHONE with no questions asked. And I really do not know anything else about changing this code. Mine used to be TPH but that is long gone as an option now.
first thank for the reply
2nd . i don't have XEU , or any thing that looks europian lol, shows codes like
EGY , JED , KSA, MAT, MED , MID , MMC , MWD , PAK, THR , WAN , XSG , Xss
Egy , sounds like Egypt
Jed sounds like Jeddah
Ksa is Saudia arabia ,
Mat is i don't know so for the others lol , i wonder what these codes there for ?
i think i need a flash for this mobile ?
BTW i read on some blog that i should have the market back when i select XSG.
the thing is...... i have the market lol but it gets stuck on Starting download . i don't think if i do the XSG thing the market would work but i will give it a shot and post the results

Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy s 2 on T-mobile here in the UK. Obvisously it came with T-mobile's version of Android 2.3.3 . When the phone starts up or shuts down, it displays T-mobile's logo wallpaper.
The phones has an option to search for updates, but it can never connect to the server.
It does not have the option to sign into the Samsung account, it does not exist on my handset, only Google account and the usual facebook and others options.
As a result of this I don't have the option to use Samsung's mobile tracker. For those unsure google samsungdive.
I don't need to use other networks on my handset, just T-mobile. T-mobile have removed the tracking option so this is why I want to put Samsung's software on my phone.
My question or what I want to do is this:
1)Remove the current T-mobile Android software from my phone and install Samsung's Android firmware.
2)Have the option of signing into Samsung's account from my phone and be able to use Samsung's tracker.
3)Be able to update to the latest updates as and when available.
Please advise me as to what I have to do or what my best options are.
Thanks very much!
I would flash the stock version of JVR and use a custom kernel like semaphore etc
Sent using geek power
My friend can you tell which modem u r using on t mobile. Or baseband
Baseband version:
I9100BOKG1
I Spoke to Samsung about this and they said because I got the phone through my contract with T-Mobile, T-Mobile have played around with the software and some features are not present compared with buying the phone sim free with the Original Samsung software.
They said if I remove current software and put Generic Samsung software I will void warranty on the phone.
What do you think about this?
Thanks
I'd flash anyway mate, worse case scenario is if you get a fault, you can reset to factory using ODIN. Plus, I have a t-mobile s1 and it was flashed day of purchase from t-mobile, and even if you ring them, they aint really too bothered if its been flashed. Example, I flashed my brothers which played up, he rang t-mobile told them it was flashed they said well done, and would replace it if I couldnt sort it.....which I did.
In a nutshell....flash and dont look back!! Its really quite hard to'kill' an android phone!!

hello...
could u describes what variant of galaxy tab you are using ?
Is it verizon, sprint or the GSM P1000 or any other model.
AFAIK ( as far as i know ) there are official gingerbread update for all variant of galaxy tab so you dont have to worry about avoiding the warranty.
Even you root or customize your TAB, u can revert back to stock easily.
Or u can carry your TAB to the nearest SAMSUNG Service Center to help you to upgrade to gingebread.
thans for your reply. i am from serbia. my network is telenor. the phone is locked for this network. this is the version
pda p100xwjmk
phone p1000xxjma
csc p1000xfjm5
i will contact samsung to ask about 2.3 update.
Either wait for the official update of GB or get impatient and load the unofficial update. It works great on Gingerbread and you can even switch cameras while on the call.

So I bought a brand new Sim-free sealed note 9 from eBay last week here in Germany. Take it from the box turn the phone on and see the OPTUS logo when I power it on and then I was thrilled like WTF is this a fake phone? (didn't know what that logo is) so I searched on google and found out that is just an Australian service provider so was relaxed and then I put different SIM card in the phone and I can do phone calls and use mobile data without any problems. The only problem is that the service provider SW is Locked on Optus Australia (OPS). I downloaded different stock firmware's from SamMobile for Germany (DBT), UK (BTU) Even Australia (XSA) and still in settings at the software info/service provider is shown: OPS/OPS,OPS/OPS and every time when I turn the Phone ON/OFF the annoying OPTUS logo is shown... I tried just only flashing the CSC in Odin but still no changes... I contact the buyer on eBay and he is willing to take the phone back and full refund me. But I want to keep the phone really like the Note 9. Please help me
You have to change the CSC using a combination file ROM, as they use a multi-CSC now. In some ways, it's better than the old system but in others, it's worse.
This took me ages to figure out but after finding a guide and the right combination ROM (must match the current bootloader version else it won't boot), it worked.
Here's the thread that helped me: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...9-s9-csc-only-same-model-numbers-csc.3870836/
Look through all the comments if you have issues. I believe I mentioned, somewhere in that thread, the exact steps I took to make it work.
Newer versions of SamFirm have a combination ROM download option to simplify finding one (new SamFirm builds don't seem to be on the website yet but the guy who maintains it now also has a YouTube channel where he posts links. Seems to be fine except the very latest version seems a bit ad-filled).
Just so you're aware, the N960F shouldn't be carrier-locked. You just can't change the CSC like older phones could. S7 and Note 7 were the last Samsung phones that used the old CSC system, if I remember correctly. Getting rid of the carrier logo is worth it, though, in my opinion.
