Hi,
I was trying to download the new Youtube app that came out a couple days ago, but installation keeps failing. Im using Rodriguez's CM6 rom.
Wondering if the issue is with the ROM or some other issue Im not aware of, i know i have more than enough space on the phone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Uninstall the YouTube app with titanium backup, reboot, then install the new one.
10000000 to 1 odds you're running a custom rom

Wow, I am a tard. Completely skipped over that part.
Regardless, every time I see some one with a problem like this, it is caused by running something other than the stock rom.

What do I need to do to fix this?
Provide more information. Maybe post in the rom thread for the one you are using and see if it's a known issue.

If this has been asked more than once, I apologize!
I got this phone couple days ago and I stumbled upon this forum to notice many different themes. I was wondering how you change it from the original Captivate theme to the themes the makers made here. Thanks
Are you rooted? Do you have a certain rom? Because you cant get a theme from developers until your rooted and have a Rom that the theme is for?

I am rooted (I think since I searched it up and did what the person told me) as for ROM, I'm not quite sure if I do.

Here's an easy way to see if your rooted, go into your apps and see if you have an app called superuser. If you do, then you are rooted but if not then you are not. As for the rom I'm not sure as to what rom you have I'm not sure.

Don't worry about it haha we were all new once .

Read this guide over, it will explain how to install a custom rom, which is basically ( in very simplified terms) just a new very advanced theme that replaces the old stock one that comes with the phone. That link can tell you everything you need to know. Just be REALLY careful! the first time I tried to install a new rom my phone got messed up and i couldn't use it for three days. But anyways, have fun and welcome to the site!

I suggest Phoenix as your ROM. Its very simple to use and has good speed and good battery life. It's the first rom I had .
Here's the link http://www.phoenix-hq.com/ to the site with the downloads from everything from the Rom to Themes for the Rom to wallpapers.
If you need anything else feel free to PM me.
There are apps that I installed when my phone was running an i897 rom that I cannot install due to running and i9000 rom.
how do I make the market recognize me as an i897 instead of an i9000?
I am guessing I change stuff in build.prop but I am not gonna blindly change it without advice
Have you tried eris market fix? Not sure if it will solve your issue but I have used it in the past and it helped me.

Maybe try asking in the thread of the rom you are on. Someone else may have same problem.
Flash an i897 rom, download the programs you want, backup with TiBu, reflash i9000 rom, restore with TiBu, profit!

Thank you for that. That was my favorite ROM by far just because of how stable it was and the battery life was great.

After I rooted the phone I deleted some blotware. Now I am having problems with the phone freezing. Is there a way to recover the delete apps?
You can always restore your backup. Unless you didn't create a backup before you went and deleted everything. That's a noob thing not to do.
Your best bet is to follow the "return to stock" tutorial. It's in the sticky threads.
Or wait for the next update to roll out.
