[Q] Unable to get recovery mode - Samsung GalaxyS GT-I9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi droidz0rs,
my friend has a galaxyS GT-I9000 purchased in the UAE, and I've been helping him root/customize, etc.
I've read a few different guides/walkthroughs on how to get into recovery mode with the phone, and absolutely NOTHING seems to work!!! certainly not quite as easy as my milestone.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
beflythis

chances are your phone have the 3 buttons disabled, and you'll need to first install the 3 button SPL fix
read more about it on the wiki and follow in details on all relevant topics before you try anything

The guys over in the I9000 forum might be able to help you a bit better... the Captivate is the US variant- we don't even have a physical home button so our procedures are a bit different

+1 to this, but if you are still here, which program did you download?
I assume because you're in this forum, you used the Odin one-click downloader (which is designed for the AT&T captivate) and even says "NOT FOR i9000" like a million times across the top. so if you're stuck in a boot loop with the AT&T logo flashing and then a black screen and then repeating forever, the last I checked that was the only thing you could do to actually brick your phone.
it is the only unresolved issue for i9000 phones until JTAG becomes an option. I believe the i9000 needs to use the physical home button for recovery/download, and because we don't have that, you can't get into those modes to repair the problem.
if this isn't what you did, then yes, head on over to the i9000 thread where they're more likely to have information to help out. they're also more likely to have the info on any potential fixes if it is what happened.
Thread moved to i9000 Q&A
download the new JH2 fix, which includes the new SPL to re-enable the 3 button modes

If you want to overclock or mess with your phone and know nothing read nothing and learn nothing before you start be prepared to throw a dead phone in the bin .
So take your time and read up first .

Hi, I have no 3BR either but I found an app that gives you the 3BR, it's called Quick Boot and is available in the market, hope that helps.
brian.
That app just goes to force shut down all the time
Jj i understand that you can brick your phone. Ive messed with a psp and that took days of reading. Just need to get this 3 button working and then go from there

I restored download mode on my phone using this guide, you need to read it very carefully though, as I bricked my phone on the first time trying (used odin v1 instead of 1.3), luckily if you do brick then you can use the download mode jig.
got it going ha ha now try to find out how to clock this baby
is anyone can help me with that would be great.

better get the reading glasses out. thanks for that
from what guides ive read through they all seem to be for people who know what there doing.
dont get me wrong i build my own computers (not exactly rocket science) and ive flished my gpu and ive flash WII's and psp's although i did have to do alot of reading on them there were many noob guides or at least semi noob guides
all seem to be going over my head a little
OP updated with another question. dont want to keep opening new threads. so if someone could help i would be grateful thank you
of reading on them there were many noob guides or at least semi noob guides
No all you can do is read whats posted first ..
Noob guides are of no use 99% of noobs dont read guides .
Overclocking most definitely advanced users .
User must be able to recover from bad flash and no how to flash via Odin via CPW update get into download mode and use a recovery jig .
The beginning posts.

[Q]Can't Access Download Mode Anymore

Alrighty. The other night, I had download mode. I updated to a new Kernal.
Today I try to access it, and I have:
POWER RESET or UNKNOWN UPLOAD MODE.
Now, I've googled, and none of the threads really answer the question. What do I have to do to get into download mode to flash a new kernal?

It's all right. Nobody starts from 100 anyway. it's always 0. working up..
Hello guys, I am completely new to this forum, first post actually. I recently rooted my new Samsung Galaxy S2 and installed the latest Cyanogenmod7 for AT&T SGH-i777. Everything went fairly smooth and was not too difficult after hours of research. As I navigated the system I found some glitches and decided to go back to stock ROM. Being a noob, I think I installed the wrong Kernel while trying to revert. At this point, I am unable to do much more than get into clockwork mod recovery boot screen with power, up/down volume. While in the screen which is orange rather than blue before, up and down will navigate the options but tapping an option does nothing but reset back to the list. I can not reboot, power off or anything for that matter. I have been trying for hours to get into download mode and all I get is the Samsung Galaxy S2 and then a black screen like nothing has happened. For whatever reason the Samsung Boot screen says i9100 when my phon is SGH-i777 for AT&T. Not sure if what I am dealing with is a bricked phone or if I need some experiential knowledge within this forum to work magic. Any help with resolving this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any time given, Incloud!
Hope this is appropriate for this section.

Help me fix my bricked Samsung Tab

Hi Guys
I accidentally flashed my P1000 with an I9000 image. I used Udin3 and it said passed when completed but now the Tab will not turn on, only the LED light comes on.
When I plug the Tab back in, Udin sees it, but I don't know what to flash it with now.
Please can someone help this newbie out?
Thanks
DODGY
Hope this helps.
Reading is fundamental. Take your time and you'll find what you're looking for. Also, use the search button. Just like most forums, searching will help you much more than just asking for the help.
As long as you still can put it in download mode and odin sees it, nothing to worry.
Just flash it with the correct ROM - stock ROM -. Search the forum you'll find the link..
Oh..try this:
