Anyone seen a dock for just charging the dell streak. So i can put it on my nightstand as..radio, clock, securitycam viewing.
I've been looking for one too, but no luck so far
Slacker G2 Dock
I just completed the single jumper wire part of this modification so that it both recognizes the charger as a dock and charges within a couple hours.
xttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=965555#
Ebay for under $30. When the Streak docks it goes into clock mode which is the perfect alarm clock. On top of that I use tasker to turn on WiFi and synchronize all my pod casts and music overnight.
I bought the Slacker dock from Ebay. Just charges and put it in Night Clock mode - an app. Works fine. $15.99.
I use an unmodified G2 dock too, just plug it in and away you go. Now and again when I take the streak off the dock it complains about the charger having a problem but it does actually charge just fine.

Yeha the G2 slacker is the best option.
I have two of them (one at work and one home) and have my dell cable for a spare or when I travel.
There is a thread on modding the dock so you can use it as an audio out to speakers if you really want as well.
I just got one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NZB-USB-Dock-Charger-battery-Dell-Streak-mini5-/190518480187
it works fine for just charging and syncing (there is NO A/V out, but I have no need of either)
Says they ship to Europe including Belgium for the OP's information!

I received it today
It comes with no extra charger, so you have to use your old one. It has 2 usb ports, 1 vga, 1 s-video and 1 composite port. Oddly enough it has 2 mini-usb ports. One for syncing and one for charging. I thought that it would be enough with the sync port as it charges as well.
It can be abit fiddly to get the Athena in place, but otherwise it works like a charm. Now I need to figure out how to change the keyboard layout (swedish) and follow up on the mouse pointer issue. After that is sorted out I have a simplistic PC for visually impare (the text is hughe on a 17" screen).

£69.95!!!!! What a rip-off. I know expansys are expensive but that is a joke (sorry). I think I will wait until they filter thru on to ebay.
I bought it from Dustin for SEK 1024 so I don't think it is a rip-off. They do not have a history of over charging. I suspect a device of this price class have expensive acessories. I am a bit disappointed that it doesnt come with a charger.

One seller used to have the have them on ebay at about the same time that expansys used to have them (although I think that they didn't have the second USB port). However, it looked to me like they were withdrawn because suddenly neither expansys nor this ebay seller had any in stock at the same time. Shouldn't be long before they appear on ebay. I seem to recall they were asking about £30 for it but I could be wrong.

Yes, it does.
can someone find one a bit cheaper? I'd like it for playing around testing external hard discs and accessories with but 70 quid is ridiculous for internet prices. Must be very few of them or something.......wonder who supplies Expansys as you don't seem to see their items on Ebay.
might require 2 chargers for extra battery
The docking station has two mini-usb ports. One for sync and one for charge. When I attach the charger to the charging port, nothing happens. My conclusion is, that the extra charging port is for the extra battery. This would mean that if you want to charge both the Advantage and an extra battery, you would have to attach an extra charger to it. If this is the case, it is even more odd that the docking station didn't come with a charger.
The only explanation I could find, would be that the mini-usb has a limited power capability and wouldn't be enough to charge both unit and battery.
//Johan
Joohan
Try to insert only the battery in its slot and switch between the 2 mini USB ports then see what happens.
USB doesnt have enough amps to charge the Ameo as it is, if you look at the mains adapter its a 1 amp output, usb from pc im sure is only half of that at 500 milli amp. the second mini usb may be to attach a second mini usb to get the full charge, I have an external 2.5 HD and it comes with a usb to two mini usb to boost the current. even then it still strugles, without the external mains adapter, which is 1.4 amps.
I could be wrong, just my oppinion, But I notice this when im in the car using usb charger, it keeps everything runnning, "tomtom" but wont really charge it.

This has been discussed before - it depends on the car charger you are using. The one that came with my Brodit holder happily charges the Ameo while using satnav and screen brightness on full.

It has a 3.5mm out. So a male to male 3.5mm audio cable (very cheap on ebay) should let you hook it up to aux on stereo if it has a 3.5mm input.

I will have to check my order when I get home, see where the stock is up to.

Dear Friends,
I bought two of them yesterday; one for home and one for office. It suits HD2 very well. I can say, i am very satisfied. In the package you can find an extra charger unit and usb cable for sync but only downside is the length of both cables are short for me.I wish they would be longer... I am looking for quality small speakers to use with the cradle...BTW it is a great tool to use with HD2... Hope this helps...
Kind Regards...

I called them and they said that they will only receive stock on the 22nd of March. I am not waiting that long, so cancelled the order.
So to get back to the initial question: Any other craddle (in stock) recommended for the HD2?
Does anyone know if you can get a seperate usb cable for the streak yet?
I want a spare one so i can keep it in the car, or a longer one because i find the one that comes with the streak to be too short.
Anyway if anyone knows where to get one then could they let me know
Just had a thought while typing.. just buy a usb extension lead...off to buy one to see if it works.
yes Dell sell them on their website mate
Another option is a USB extention cable. I got a 6FT for like $10 at RadioShack. Works great for me, you can also buy the Dell car kit that will work as a backup USB cable.
Is there a way to buy a compatible one?
I live in italy and we can order only from dell.it that obviusly hasn't streak and accessories in their site....

Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Well it has recently been confirmed that the streaks connection port is a PDMI connection. The Slacker G2 radio also uses a PDMI but no one has tried its cable yet. Specs are one thing but fitting is another. (Think of it how the first iPhone had a 3.5mm headset jack but you had to buy the apple headphones that didn't an elbow and were narrow enough to fit in there.)
So if anybody has, or knows someone that has a Slacker G2, feel free to try the cable out and tell us all
Source:
http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/08/dell-streaks-proprietary-connector-is-actually-pdmi.html
Images that I can find for the slacker 2 radio charging lead seem to show a standard mini usb connector. Maybe the pdmi connector is data only?
can u use the ones on ebay?
Now i ordered another one from Dell site....
With only one cable, I finally ran out of patience and also constant carrying existing cable from place to place everytime I moved around.....
I have to have one near my bed for reading/charging thru the night....one in the car - which I will carry around to office as well...in the coming months hopefully the price will drop or there will be another source - till then this will do.

Hello all,
I happened to be on Ebay looking for wireless charging pads and case for the D4 when I came across a aftermarket Droid 4 desktop charging cradle. I wanted to get everyone else's opinion. It is on Ebay and ships from Hong Kong using Singapore Post. Ebay seller has over 54K reviews. Lemme know what you think:
http://bit.ly/QHih3p
Price is $17.49, not bad IMHO
I have similar if not the same exact one...
It will not activate the desk dock mode since it is only a USB connection and the new phones require USB/HDMI connections to turn this on.
You can download razr dock from the play store and use a Smart Actions action to launch it when plugged in though...
Smart Actions:
Name - (I named mine Docked)
Trigger - Charging - Wall adapter
Actions - Launch Application - Razr Dock
App: http://tinyurl.com/93wdnu3
Overall....works well, formed to the Droid 4 so that it is easy to place in the dock, charges it and with Razr Dock running it emulates the actual dock in bedside mode. Looks a little off on Gingerbread but works perfectly on ICS (clock in Gingerbread has weird different sized numbers...sometimes).

Ahh you're right! I didn't even notice that. It may still be worth a purchase because the developer seems to be on top of the bugs the dock app you suggested has.
It's a shame that for a phone as versatile as this one, that a OEM dock doesn't exist.

not totally correct. the HDMI connection is not necessary to activate dock mode. the usb is sufficient. i tore apart my
Motorola HD Dock and removed the HDMI connection because it was annoying me. It was nothing but a simple passthru, however the USB connection had some kind of circuitry between where you plug in the dock, and where it plugs into the phone. it's this circuit that kicks the phone into dock mode. I think i will be ordering this dock from ebay, and pulling my dock circuit from my HD dock as it annoys me to no end.
I think I may go and purchase this today. If anything, it'll look nice on my desk at work. I've never been a fan of the kickstand cases Verizon has.

For me the Droid 3 Multimedia Dock is a better option - it might be a bit more expensive, but its ability to route audio and video, plus the fact that it engages the dock mode options makes it better. I suspect the aftermarket docks won't even put the phone into landscape.
Cheers,
Steve.

Indeed, I agree totally, that sounds a lot more appealing. Some of the Droid 3 docks, has been a bit short of space to fit the Droid 4 into, though. But that one might work fine, I don't know.

Actually, I am looking for a simple, usb charge cradle for bedside charging of my Razr i. The Amazon.de cradle (page 1) looks very nice, but does not deliver to abroad (The Netherlands in my case); and I cannot find this charger in my country. Anybody any idea, help for a usb charge desktop cradle, nice design, which ships internationally (The Netherlands, in my case)?
