Pandora - Captivate Themes and Apps

Has anyone noticed that pandora will occasionally skip songs? ive been using the stock headphones and i think somewhere i read that the issue lies with the headphones but this is my second phone (first had random reboots) and i really don't think twice in a row i got bad headphones...

I haven't noticed and I generally use the stock earphones. Do an experiment. Use some different earphones and see if you have the same problem.

the issue is that this happens very rarely (happened more often on my 1st phone) last time this happened was about 1 week ago maybe... i guess ill try one week with my iphone headset and 1 week with samsung...

The only time it happens to me is when im playing it and switch from wifi to 3g or vice versa and its not every time

Pandora for me is completely unusable. It disregards what else is playing, and goes on top of it.
Totally worthless.
Here's two examples:
1. Open Pandora, wait, no I want to call someone. Close Pandora, make a phone call. 2 minutes in it starts playing. Talk about awkward!!! What the $&#*$??
2. Open Pandora, dang no signal. Open stock music app, then a few minutes later I hear two songs playing. Have to open Pandora and click pause. Again, what gives???
The fact that a reputible, famous, well liked company made such a disastrous product makes me confused.
So I'm not surprised at all to hear you have issues
I want to like Pandora, I just feel like Im talking to an austistic kid whenever I use it (high degree of selfishness, talks over everything)

Pandora can play, but it is way too laggy without voodoo, if I try to switch a station it goes black for a few minutes, then force closes.

Seems like the issue is in fact wifi to 3g
Regarding pandora interrupting phone calls I've never had this issue I've started pandora then made a phone call talk for 15 or 20 mins and it continue to play right after the main issue I have is hanging up the phone can't be done with the headset
Are you using a custom rom our something? Because I can say stock there aren't issues like that unless its a faulty phone or something user or app related

Wow i dont understand why everyone is having problems with pandora. Ive had my captivate for a few months now and I listen to it every day all day at work and have never had one even slight issue. I mean its flawless. Especially coming from blackberry 9700 is like absolutely perfect. No exaggeration. From phone calls to multitasking no probs. On many different roms
Sounds like one dudes problem is he needs to hit the quit button if he wants to close it. Not just home or back.

well the reason you haven't noticed an issue is because like you said you listen to it at work which means generally you are in on area at a time, as for me and several others are in college etc... we move from place to place in and out of wifi network which could cause this issue
Other than the issue of pandora skipping i really have no other concerns with it other than yes it is a bit slow when starting it up and when trying to skip song while i walk between classes/work
maybe i should root my device to speed it up...

I go to Georgia Tech and we're said to have the best WiFi/Internet speeds in the entire nation iirc.
We have WiFi, literally everywhere we go on campus. Except some small spots, and those spots I get what you are expierencing when switching from 3g to WiFi

from what ive noticed the issue does in fact occur when switching from wifi to 3g or vice versa (again it is very rare) so for the most part managing your wifi when leaving your wifi zone (like i do leaving my apartment)

I haven't had any problems. I listen to it while at home on wifi and I some times leave to go somewhere and it still plays fine. I also listen to it all day at work and a lot while driving in the car with no problems. The only time I ever noticed a problem is the button doesn't always pause the music. Once in a while when I try and pause Pandora with the in-line button, music player will start playing a song.

you have to close the music player completely.
if it is on "standby" it will do that.

You guys are right - I have to force close rather than hit the home button or back button. Point is force closing is just another step.....
I am running a custom ROM so that can be it (cognition), but on the other hand everything else works with it! I.e. last.FM, stock music, mixzing, etc. So part of it really is a difference in their app.
Good to know it works on stock

In Pandora app there is a quit button. Hit the options/menu button (to the left of home button) and you will see some options one of them being quit.

[Q] Stock music player stopping randomingly

Hi,
The stock music player stops (actually pauses the music) randomly on my Samsung SGS, usually after around 30 mins of playback. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
I'm running 2.2.1 XXJPY on an unlocked 8GB SGS.
I certainly didnt have this issue. Are you using the headphones for listening to music?
Maybe, IMO, the headphones are loose and it is coming out. whenever you pluck out the headphones from the phone, the music pauses.
The headphones appear to be attached quite securely and most of my listening is done at work sitting at a desk. I'll try a different set of headphones though and see if they make a difference.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I am getting this as well even without headphones plugged in. Seems to be random - it can happen within 5 minutes, or it can play for hours without stopping.
This also happens to me, same with Power Amp, Music Mod, and the stock player. It just randomly stops playing every so often, it's very annoying.
I only listen through headphones and I have seen other threads that suggest it is something to do with the contact on the headphones but they are always securely fit in, and it happens on my brother's phone as well.
Most likely it has to do with the contacts.
Try to twiggle the plug a bit while listening to something. If music stops it's the plug.
I experience this issue with PowerAMP and the plug for my car stereo, when i just rotate it completely plugged in.
Anyone have anything else to offer on this? I know it's not a headphone connection issue as it happens when using bluetooth in the car as well. It happens with Poweramp, Listen and Audible so I guess it must be something to do with it killing the apps or something? It drives me mad!
I was experiencing this issue a year and a half ago when I owned an HTC legend. It happened then on stock rom and also CM6.
I've owned my SGS for about 8 months now and have experienced this bug on every rom I've tried (froyo, KC1, KG3, now CM7).
I've looked at the log files when this happens and it simply says something to the effect of "cannot read from source" or "premature end of file." (I can't remember exactly). Strange thing is, the music is only paused, I can hit play and resume right where it stopped, so there is obviously no issues with reading the file. It also happens when I'm listening to podcasts in google listen.
I've learned to live with it.
Also about the headphones, I use the external speaker when rocking my baby daughter to sleep sometimes and it happens then too.
thanks for sharing: I get this periodically and wasn't sure what was causing it

I have the same issue, any luck with a solution?

Poweramp issue?

Has anyone had any problems with PowerAmp on their bionic? Sometimes it stops playing when i have it connected to bluetooth headphones . Tried playing around with all the settings to no avail. the only way i can get it to play sometimes is by ticking the box that says play when connection resumes to BT. Basically what it does is play but it produces no sound. I've contacted the DEV multiple times and no responce
basically from someone else with the same problem
"I start playing PowerAmp
While a song is playing, I'll switch to another song (either by swiping or by pressing the "next" button)
I'll switch songs a few times, and after a few (7-10 songs) the audio will stop coming out. However, the timer will still advance, so the player thinks that the song is still playing.
During this time, all other sounds work normally, just not PowerAmp. The workaround is to kill the task using the stock task manager and then restart PowerAmp.
This is a hugely annoying bug on an otherwise great program. This bug makes it borderline unusable. It never used to happen on my old DroidX, so I'm not sure if it's related to the new phones, or if an update created this bug."
I use to have that same problem. I think i solved it since i haven't had the problem anymore. But i turned off all the fading and that seemed to work.

Edit: just that the rc is available. Sweet!
I have the same issue. I would use task killer then go back to Power Amp and it would start playing again. I just upgraded to 2.0 last night and we will see what happens
after the update i was confused on how to get the EQ and shuffle mode turned on from the player menu. turns out if you tap the album art in the middle of the screen itll pop up in the corners. confusing if your used to the old layout.
I had this same issue for weeks. Been really aggravating me. Glad i am not alone. I will try turning off all Fading. Thanks for the tip. I updated the app too. Hopefully the bug is gone.

[Q] Music Player starts after I hang up

Hi all,
this one is pretty amusing at times, but mostly frustrating. So I have a this HTC One which was shipped with Android 4.1. Everything was great. Then I updated to 4.2 using the normal "check for updates" procedures.
Now, whenever I hang up or ignore a call, my MP3 starts playing. Systematically. Sounds like a bluetooth issue (most of my calls are dealt with through my bluetooth headset). I uninstalled the bluetooth app (Plantronics Voyager Legend UC), reinstalled, deleted and re-paired the device. No luck.
I can;t find anywhere a "playback" setting of any kind. Google-is-my-friend tells me I'm not the only one with that issue but so far, no solution.
If anyone has a clue, aside reverting to 4.1, I'd be grateful as this is quite embarrassing when you're in a meeting and you ignore the call... (good thing I got rid of my heavy metal MP3 files...).
Thanks,

I did get a chuckle on this one. The only suggestion I have would be to download a 3rd party music player, check it as the default player, and see if that helps.
Woops sorry buddy I didn't mean not to reply, just been busy. So yeah this is amusing at best. So I uninstalled all apps related to the headset, rebooted once more, and voila ! No more MP3.
As to why it ever happened in the first place, I'm as puzzled as you on that one.
Cheers though,
Well I spoke too early... randomly, after I hang up, there comes the music...
I considered slapping the phone on the wall but that's not very viable.
I went through all the settings for the phone, the music player, the bluetooth headset, I can't figure this one out.
Any ideas you want to throw at me, please do. Thanks,
I think I've been able to narrow it down. I think it only happens (but I have to confirm this) when the "car" application is on. However in the settings I can't see "resume music after a phone call" or something similar.
I think it's the "Car" application, however it's called, because the way the "play forward stop pause" buttons look similar to what's on the screen when the music starts playing... it's a long shot I know.
Do you allow your headset to be a control for the music player? If so, using the headset to hang up may well start the music playing.

Speaker pop bug

After a certain amount of time, or opening a certain app, the phone will develop this annoying speaker pop on some screen clicks. I haven't figured out what causes it yet but it happens even when the phone is set to "total silence". A reboot always fixes it. I had my screen clicks enabled but have turned them off and rebooted and everything is fine now. If I figure out which app or circumstances cause it, I will post the fix.
I'm having the same issue. Happens during app launch for pretty much all my apps.

Reboot fixes it temporarily. If you notice it happens after the speaker goes dormant. If the speaker is making continual sound it won't do it. Once to goes to make its first sound after sitting, it pops. Even does it on silent. Don't know what is triggering it yet.
Supposedly someone has done a FDR and no longer has the issue.

I've noticed this as well. When scrolling through my FB or IG feed, any time a video starts playing (even with the sound defaulted to off), I hear a tiny lil speaker pop. It doesn't particularly bother me all that much, but I definitely noticed it.
I was thinking about it the other day and noticed it sounds a bit like a static pop. Kinda like when you plug a guitar into an amp when it's on. Might be some sort of initiation for the speaker. As long as it doesn't affect anything else or causes damage, I'm not too bothered by it. Especially hearing that it's as widespread it is.
hey guys ive figured out what is causing it but the solution might be some sort of software patch.
its the act of connecting to a BT device and then streaming audio like XM/Google music ect. once you disconnect the pop/snap sound appears on all things that activate the speaker. the twitter pull down is the best thing to test this with but it happens on all sounds from the first time you play a song/video to changing a ring tone ect.
here is a video of the sound. ive tried it on both my cars BT, a bose standalone BT speaker, and even and old FM transmitter and all the BT devices cause the pop once they are disconnected.
the reason why its happening is a little over my head but I was thinking something with DRM possibly?
another thing i discovered is it does not happen on the non Force regular Moto Z. I tested the exact same scenarios on it and it does no speaker pop
I was going to return my phone for another but this thread and a few others makes me think its a full on bug with the Force not a bad phone out of the box
ive tried a simple network reset clearing BT but that didnt work. before I try any luck with a factory reset or is it a waste of time?
Looks like this has been posted on the Moto forums https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-Z-Force/Speaker-issue/td-p/3382728

Well it makes sense why I've never heard it then...I've have not had my phone connected to a Bluetooth device
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
I have confirmed today that it definitely is not "mod" related. I haven't had my JBL hooked up in 48 hours and there has been no pop. I drove to work today listening to music through my truck speakers using bluetooth. Pop is back. @MCN1SMO was right, it is bluetooth related. The only way out is to reboot. LAME.
Just my two cents on the topic, I am not having this issue, however, I do use bluetooth daily, my phone has been on continuously for almost two weeks now. I work outside so use the JBL speaker and have my phone in my shirt pocket listening to music while working. I keep it at about 80% volume for battery life. I am averaging about 6 hours of listening a day.
Also I have my bluetooth connected to the work truck (Ford Sync) to and from work which includes a 4 hour commute home on Fridays and back on Sunday nights to the town I stay in during the week. I have yet to hear any kind of pop from either the JBL or device speakers.
Personally I keep bluetooth off when I am not connected to a device I am not sure if this has any effect or not but it could be worth testing if you are able to replicate the problem. I have been taking off the speaker when not using it as well, but have left it on a few days.
I do also remember reading about an issue with Pandora and bluetooth. I am not sure if Pandora is what you are using or not, if it is try something else and see if the problem persists. I stopped using Pandora a few years back when I was a mechanic and had a bluetooth adapter for a code scanner for cars. If I opened Pandora I would have to reset before the adapter would operate normally.

Youtube Music suddenly runs without any interaction

Hello everybody,
First of all : Happy new year !
I own a Pixel 4 XL running a stock ROM with the bootloader still locked (I actually don't flash my phones anymore since I'm a team Pixel member haha). I use Android Auto very often because of my job.
Here is my problem : Since the december update (I guess) when I disconnect my phone from my car (using the cable & bluetooth), and put my phone in my pocket, the song from the last music suddenly runs very loud (max volume) even if I manually stop the music player beforehand. I tried a lot of things to stop this problem that seems very random : I cleared the YT Music cache, I disabled motion sense gestures, I even did a factory reset but the problem is still here.
I have to think every time I get out of my car to low the volume before this bug comes out..
Have you encountered that problem ? Do you guys have any idea that could help me ?
Thanks in advance !
Nobody can help me ?
I don't know, what does team Pixel say?
I don't think there is a solution and you aren't alone. I don't use YT for audio, but all music apps have the same pain in the ass behavior because they don't close automatically and most often you have to use "recents" to kill them off. This is the same with Spotify and Pandora. I find myself having to close AA itself sometimes because it stays open long after I've left the car. Sometimes 20 minutes later I look down and notice it is still running. If it can start up automatically when BT connects, or even when "hearing" driving noises like the engine, the reverse should be true. You turn the car off, unplug, exit the vehicle WHY does it continue running? Not one of the top 3 music apps will kill itself.
Thanks for answering !
I actually didn't know anyone else would have the same problem so this is reassuring me hah
Yes that is so annoying having your phone waking up with music with the volume toaximum whereas 10 minutes ago you thought you did everything to shut it up
I think I've had this happen literally once and I do use YouTube Music. Have never had it replicated. Is it still happening with the happened with the January update?

Unfortunately, yes it still happens despite the last update. The only thing that seems help me avoiding the problem is when I manually stop the music in my car before unplugging the phone. Then, for safety I put the media volume to the minimum so if the music starts again in my pocket, I won't hear it.

Actually no. I plug my P4XL to my car through USB then it connects via Bluetooth and Android Auto runs on my car's screen. Everything work fine. When I'm arrived, I unplug my phone, turn of the ignition and the sound normally stops and YTM pauses. But something like 10 minutes later, when I'm far from the car, the last song I was playing in the car restart through the phone with absolutely no interaction on it.

I have a similar problem. I drive a lot throughout the day and Stream SiriusXM on my Phone through the BT on my work van. Very often, I get out and within an unspecified period of time, Sirius will start playing, full volume for no reason. It's as annoying as the Google Assistant suddenly responding to something I said without me using the OK Google prompt.
The fix is to close Sirius and swipe away the player controls in the status bar dropdown

Thanks for your feedback ! I don't have the Google Assistant problem you have but the exact same problem for the media. So it's not due to YT Music or Sirius. It's an overall media problem.
Unfortunately, I can't close the app because when I unplug the phone, YouTube Music isn't even open. And swiping right the player controls doesn't seem to work.
The only thing that seems to work is to stop the stream through Android Auto before turning off the engine and unplugging. But I have to think every time I leave my car

I haven't tried stopping it before I turn off the van, but that's an idea. I think when I turn off the engine, it pauses the stream on the device, sure, but what causes it to just start playing again??
TBH, that and the random dead spots around the edges of my phone since Android 11, I'm getting a little aggravated.

I absolutely don't know what causes it to start the music again. But closing it before turning off the engine and then force closing the streaming app does help. That way, the phone has nothing to turn back on
Regarding the dead spots since the update I don't have this problem... Yet. But yeah, Android 11 is one of the worst major update the past few years. Hope they will fix these problems soon.
