Haven't found anywhere obvious stateside that has things for pre-order. I assume Amazon UK would be ok to ship to Denmark though.

co-order a batch of official Samsung accessories
Will someone be willing to co-order a batch of official Samsung accessories for the GT from e.g. Play.com (the cheapest internet shop)?
I'm especially interested in the case/stand and a set of screen protectors.
I live in Denmark, and Play.com will ONLY deliver to a U.K. address...

I have seen a Tan slip leather case that claims to be an original Samsung case too. Does anyone know if it is real? Tan looks great

May I ask where?

Exactly!

Can someone please submit a post in here, if they come across an internet retailer that actually DOES want to ship to other countries... in Europe, at least? Thx.

I'd be happy to order these and ship them out for you.. obviously you'd have to pay for the shipping costs both ways (ie from shop to me and from me to you) plus packaging costs (if there are any...ie if you want me to check the item or if it comes in one of those jiffy bags)

Doesn't Play ship to Denmark? I've not ordered cell phone accessories before, only blu ray movies and has never been a problem to Sweden.
(Ah sorry, just ready that they couldn't ship electronics and similar).
Have you checked Expansys? http://www.expansys.dk/s.aspx?search=galaxy tab

No, Play.com apparently does NOT ship mobile phones and mobile accessories outside the UK. I've tried to plead with them, but it's a no-go...
Most of the items on Expansys are marked "We have no confirmed lead time for this item - call for more details."....

Picked up both folio and folding case. The folio is fine, it still fits pockets it did without the folio. The folding case is another story, to start, it doesn't fit those intended pockets anymore. Secondly, the softbuttons can't be reached very well and the topbar slider can't be activated anymore. It looks like the ipad folding case, however is not par on that quality unfortunately.

I will probably get a silicon sleeve for my Galaxy Tab, when they become available. I really enjoy being able to carry the tablet straight inside my coat/jacket's deep pockets, it slides-in nicely but it's a bit too slippery for serious mobile use.
The 7" form factor is fantastic by the way, I nearly bought a 10" Android tablet but I'm so glad I went for the higher density and portability of the 7" screen. The iPad is great, but I'm not a fan of Apple's policy over its software distribution. I've been able to play with the Android 2.2 ROMs on my Galaxy Tab as soon as I got it, which enabled a much more customizable experience from the outset. My Nokia N810 is probably going to be put on eBay soon, I never found a real use for it other than the geeky Linux factor. With the GT-P1000 I can now get things done, instead of constantly wasting time on the command line !

I like this case very much and waiting for!

some one who have bought and tested the desk dock hdmi?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk

I bought the desktop media dock from Mobilefun.co.uk for £39.99 + £2.50 post and package, then i had to buy a mini hdmi to normal hdmi cable because it does not tell you the size untill you get one and unpack it then notice the smaller hdmi port on the dock.
So far not at all happy with it.
First it would not work, so i had to unplug then re-plug hdmi cable in a few times, then when it did work all i got was a very small picture of the android launcher, if you rotate the tab then lock the screen its full screen on the tv, then i played a test video file (175 mb simpson cartoon), it was very bad washed out and blurry, so then i tryed a 700mb film and it was just as bad.
So i downloaded a film from samsung movies using my free credits from the uk deal, the file rock n rolla was about 1.5gb and a wmv file, guess what, thay don't work it tells you the movie is protected and cannot be played though the hdmi output, now that about cut it for me, what a waste of just short of £50.00 pounds.
Also once you are running though hdmi the speaker output don't work you can only have sound though the hdmi output/tv, unplug hdmi cable and sound works form the earphone/speaker socket on the dock?
I'm hoping that its not all down to the dock and maybe my old 32" lcd tv which only does a max of 1080i is to blame but i not gonna buy a £500 tv just to find out.
It would also have been nice if you had some way to config the hdmi output like on some of the cheap tablets from china where you could pick 720p or 1080p maybe if i could drop the tab down to 720p all might be good, lets hope new firmware at some stage fixes this.

For anyone interested in purchasing the HDMI cable you need to obtain an HDMI cable v1.3 type C to A.
Also, it would seem for playing movies you would have been better off getting the 3xRCA Cable instead of the Dock.
Note: the 3xRCA fits into the BOTTOM of the Tab and not the Audio port as used on the Galaxy S.

Personal review of the Nexus S KiDiGi Desktop Dock

KiDiGi dock
I got tired of samsung taking forever to release a desktop dock, so I went and bought the kidigi and have been using it for a week now. I have to say the dock is amazing . It fits the phone perfectly and holds it in tight . My test for a good dock is if i can place the phone to charge when im drunk, and i have to say its a good dock. . I had a seidio and it was a pain getting the micro usb to line up.
maybe a few picture of the dock?

Sorry cant show you phone on the dock, i dont have a camera besides my phone.
Does the dock fit the phone very tightly or would there be room for a silicone case?
Looks good though. I wondered about mounting one of these permenantly in the car instead of using a brodit active holder

This fits really tight and no room for case. Would be a really good car mount, the phone doesn't move at all, but don't know about permanently mounting something to a car.

using this as a car mount is actually a good idea, just use some strong velcrow. but the downside is that you wouldnt be able to the 3.5mm headphone jack due to the design. what a pitty for people like me who use aux for audio
Does this dock cause the Nexus S to go into dock mode?
I have dock from Odds and Pods.
It looks exactly the same as one described in this thread but no KiDiGi label on it.
Few things which might be helpful for some.
Mine phone did not went into dock mode until I modified dock:

Dock working fine with Best Skin Ever attached - so there is some room for protection also.
I would not recommend this dock to use it in the car. Not in the place where I live.
If you have only smooth roads, no bumps at all - then yes - maybe. But your phone is not hold in docking station by anything but small USB plug.
Imagine what will happen with this on some bumps.
Consider buying this one for car instead:

http://www.4u-mobi.com/onlineshop/online_shop_detail.php?pid=5694
Also I have a question to thread author.
Does your dock working OK in USB transfer mode?
Mine just showed up and I was pleasantly suprised of the build quality. Fits perfect.
I got the one with the spare battery compartment.
Best part about it is that it charges the phone, syncs usb, and charges the spare all at the same time rather than one at a time like some of my older versions i've bought.
If it only had an audio out jack in the back it would be the ultimate.
Ordered it here but can be found cheaper with some research: http://www.4u-mobi.com/onlineshop/online_shop_detail.php?pid=5692 showed up in 10 days

So the usb sync works, transfer files, on the one you got? Just want to make sure since the other person said it only charged his phone (unless I read it wrong).
Works perfectly fine.... They ship it with 2 different cables, 1 is obviously for data transfer and the other is for charging... you can tell because one is thick vs the other very skinny... so I hope whoever said it didn't work didn't get their wires crossed up!

Could you please tell us where you could find it cheaper ? Because, personally, I find that is has a very nice design compared to other alternatives, so I would really like to buy it. Preferably cheaper than 27$. So, again, please tell us where to find it cheaper. Thanks !
Also, on their site, it says that under DC and USB charging, the output is 500mAh. My Nexus S DC charger says 700 mAh. How is that going to affect the charging time ? Almost +1/3 of what it is right now ?
I also understood from other sources, that USB can only give a max output of 500 mAh, is that true ? So the only down-side for this dock is the 500 mAh DC output... it would've been better if it had 1A.

Bump. Does the phone enter dock mode?
Does this fit with the I9023 also?
So, where do you find it cheaper ?
Anyway, I found it on shop.brando.com (I think it's a replica of the KiDiGi model). Unfortunately, I can't post links here, so if you want to find it, do a search for "Google Nexus S USB Cradle" on their site. It's 18$ only for charging the phone and 25$ with a slot for charging the battery. That's compared to 27$ and 31$ respectively for those 2 from KiDiGi.
Also, apart from the KiDiGi models and these replicas, I've also found the chinese ones on eBay. Those are around 10$ each, but I don't quite recommend those. They also come with a 500 mA DC charger each, so there's nothing good here, opposed to the 1A charger that comes with the KiDiGi and those replicas on brando shop.
Hope this helps somebody.

No, it does not enter dock mode. Tested on both ports.

Verizon Xperia PLAY case means it won't fit in the Verizon dock.

Why am I not surprised that Verizon would produce two main staple products and not make them work with each other?
The Xperia PLAY case makes it so that it's just a tad too thick to properly dock, shame because the Verizon case is actually amazing (and the design chosen for the back just kicks outstanding amounts of ass). Anyone tried sanding away enough of the dock so that the protected Xperia PLAY will fit?
I could understand if these weren't Verizon-branded products, because expecting a third party case to fit with another dock would be absurd... but these are both Verizon branded products.

So you are upset that Sony Ericsson didn't keep in mind that people would want to put a case on their phone when they packaged their product into a verizon wireless box? umm... Thats every multimedia dock and car docking station, not just the Xperia's.
Verizon simply repackages accessory products. They didn't make the case and they didn't make the dock.
Just because this is a common issue doesn't mean it's not a legitimate complaint. Docks should compensate for cases with adjustable-length usb connectors, etc.

No one is saying that it's not a legitimate complaint. We're saying that he needs to complain to Sony Ericsson for making the dock that way. It's like complaining that the official Apple iPhone 4 dock doesn't fit the iPhone 4 or 4S with the official iPhone bumpber case (it doesn't) but directing your complaint to Verizon just because you bought it there and the package said "Verizon" on it. Verizon has always resold official accessories with their own packaging.
Remember I did this and it still doesn't work. From what I can see the only part stopping it is the corners so ill try to sand them down and see what happens. I'm almost at the base of the usb connector so I don't have much more I can sand if this doesn't work

Wow. I'd find some kind of generic device dock and add a magnet to trigger dock mode before resorting to that. Even salvaging the original dock, it seems that you could use a jack extender intended for an original iPhone to extend the audio jack and a microUSB cable adapter to extend the other. Good luck!
I should point out that the audio cable that Sony Ericsson sometimes bundles with it can't be plugged in at the same time as the microUSB cable because it is a right-angle plug and the cavity only allows it to lay toward the USB port when the dock is sitting flat on a surface. My solution is to buy a different cable. Let's see your solution!
It is my expectation that premium cases should come with their own line of compatible accessories from the case manufacturer. I'm surprised that Otterbox doesn't make cases AND docks meant to fit devices with their case on it. They could even use some cross-device designs to make some docks that fit several of their cases. That said, I'm triple-surprised that even Apple doesn't make a dock or something to fit their iPhone 4 or 4S with the official bumper case installed. I have several universal dock adapters made to fit it with the case on but they are made by someone else and they only fit "universal" docks (not the iPhone 4-specific dock).
I bought it for $5 from Clearence at the local vzw store and never used it so destorying it to get doesn't really bother me, atleast I know it wouldn't work.

I had a hard case but hated it, it would push the screen protector off when clipped onto the front half, was so thick/chunky, and it made the volume buttons harder to press and of coarse couldn't use the SE DK300 dock. I went to using a pouch made for the XP and can't be happier, "naked" the phone feels and looks good and the pouch provides protection when in pocket/not in use

Is it the official Sony Ericsson one that has the pull tab that pulls the phone from the pouch? I started using that but I dropped my phone while watching a Youtube video and cracked the touchscreen. It was a cheap and easy fix but the case is still chipped and cracking in places. I'll probably switch housings sometime in the future but there aren't any Stealth Blue ones available. There are no salvageable housing parts on the cheap dummy model either.

How should the perfect Vehicle Dock for Note II look like? From iBOLT...

Hello everyone, we at iBOLT (www.ibolt.co) are working on a "real" car dock for the Note II. As we are finalizing the details it would be great to have feedback and input from this knowledgeable user community. Here's some of the questions where it would be great to have some feedback on: which type of microUSB charging is optimal (fixed position or flexible so it works with cases), car mode (good or not?), wireless charging (does anyone care?), aux-out through microUSB with 9ft cord (too long?). Well, sound off and let us know and we'll read every comment Thanks!
One thing I'd be concerned with is -
does the wireless charging supply enough power for a maxed out Note 2?
i.e. screen on 100% full brightness, GPS going full tilt, CPU probably going at a healthy pace too.
We've seen a fair number of people with chargers that couldn't handle the load (i.e. their phone still drained battery even on the charger).

Great comment. The Car Dock for Galaxy Note II must work well with thicker cases type Otterbox Commuter/Defender, Ballistic, Trident etc. It would be great to hear from users that have Qi wireless charging solutions, like the Galaxy S III solution from Verizon etc. How well does it work with cases?
I do not really understand the car dock, so also do not understand perfect?
nice, i was hoping you guys would make one for the note ii.
please have a stiff-necked cup holder version. i find them much more stable and secure. i personally have a mini cooper, and the cup holders are right in front of the console. the usb cable/aux are right behind them, so it's perfect. 9ft is definitely too long, and would just clutter up the car.
as per the connection, consider the samsung infuse route...where it snaps into the bottom of the phone. wireless charging is nice, but i wouldn't pay more than +20 bux for it.
speaking of which, please do portrait mode, not landscape. portrait is way better for navigation.
last and the least, consider changing your company name.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
wow...i'm glad that you guys are advertising here....I have never seen a better car dock before....
I have been looking for a dock that can fit my phone with the many different cases (thickness) I have, So definitely keep the "Flexible MicroUSB Arm please". I also like the idea of being able to attach it to either the windscreen or the dash.
I t would be nice to see the wireless charging feature and also one size fits all for different size phones. It would look very bad to have 2 docks in my car for both of my phone and my wife's phone.
Please let us know when the dock comes out for the note 2. Can't wait!:good::good::good:
I think the cable should be included in the dock hidden, so the bottom is not fugly with a cable in the car.
personally tbh your s3 dock is hideous, it is WAY too big and covers WAY too much of the phone. it needs to be slim and transparent, as if it were never there.
also for those who don't want a big fat suction cup on their window or dash, we would like something that attaches to any surface, or something that attaches to the vents where your aircon comes from. e.g. middle of car or on drivers side by window. so it's hiding from public and not IN YO FACE when driving :highfive:
Wow I'm glad to see you are making a car dock for the Note II. I'm deciding between the Note II and the S3, and your dock was the main one I was looking at for the S3, and was hoping there would be a good one for the Note II as well.
Liked the S3 version but still as ive read earlier Portrait mode is better in car, i always use portrait mode, and i also think you can do a fixed usb when in portrait cause then its centered when standing, also reducing stress on the usb port when putting in the charger all the time..
when in portrait, holder could also be more slimmer. personally i would like a vent holder since it wont disturb my view out.
Qi wireless charing would be a blast since i only would have to put it in the holder and my car already have Bluetooth. i would pay extra for that.

also for those who don't want a big fat suction cup on their window or dash, we would like something that attaches to any surface, or something that attaches to the vents where your aircon comes from. e.g. middle of car or on drivers side by window. so it's hiding from public and not IN YO FACE when driving :highfive:

What? Do you even own the iBolt dock for the GS3?

Anyways, I think the GS3 iBolt dock is awesome. I think I read this dock is made mostly to be placed on the left side of the steering wheel in landscape. This is where my past docks go and is where I think it's at it's best. I would say remove the charging LED to help reduce production cost. Everything else is great.

Hello everyone, we at iBOLT (www.ibolt.co) are working on a "real" car dock for the Note II. As we are finalizing the details in the next days it would be great to have feedback and input from this knowledgeable user community.

Fixed position that works with the naked phone. If it takes on holding cases it will have to much a overly big look.
I am not sure about wireless charing, I do not know how big of a gap that means there can be between the device and the source providing wireless power.
I definitely like car mode for the simple reason that is locks my phone screen on so i don't have to fumble with it when i need to use it while driving.
I personally don't use an aux out and do everything through bluetooth so I don't care for aux-out through usb.
I currently use the samsung made gs2 epic 4g touch car dock and i really like the fact that it covers pretty much 0% or the screen and it doesn't have anything that sticks out past the screen.
For me being as minimal as possible is what i look for and while still providing stiff support.
I read some people's reviews and comments saying for the S3, the power button can get knocked when driving. Is this common, or is there a way to prevent this?
Is this a problem with the Note 2, or could it maybe lay landscape the other way so the power is on the top? But then I guess you won't have access to volume controls...
Doesn't matter I guess, as this issue is probably resolved by using a case.
The issue i have with car docks, desktop docks etc and the current Note 1 (which would probably happen with the Note 2) is that you can't really place them in the dock if they have the official Samsung Folio cover. One has to remove the back cover/Folio so they can be place in the dock.
TS
I'd way prefer the fixed charging - I hate having to fiddle around with cables once I've put the phone in. I want to be able to just slide the phone in and have it just connect. Whether that means wireless charging or a fixed position charger doesn't matter to me though. I don't really use cases with my phones so it doesn't matter too much to me, but agree it would just add bulk to the holder if it needed to accommodate them.
Nice. The docking station for the S3 looked great. I want one for the Note II NOW!

Wireless charging would be awesome! One less thing to plug in when I dock the phone. Another feature that would be perfect would be the ability to rotate the device portrait or landscape.

completely agree with you
audio out through the micro usb port is a must, but my car plugs into the 3.5mm port on the phone/whatever instead of the other way around, I'd like to not have to get a 3.5mm female - female adapter to use it in my car.
The dock absolutely MUST be designed similar to how the htc evo lte dock is set up. The thing that isn't as appealing with the sgs3 dock is that you have to plug the micro-usb connector in all the time. The best part of having a vehicle dock is being able to place the phone in the dock and go. Also, having a 3.5 jack that can output via adaptor spliced with the micro-usb connector is a must have. Obviously, it'd be ideal to also design it to accommodate those that use cases
2 car docks you can take cues from would be the original note dock and the motorola docks. Please make it happen.
---------- Post added at 12:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:08 AM ----------
The trickiest part would be creating a dock that meshes what you did for the HTC Evo LTE dock and the Galaxy S3.
---------- Post added at 01:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:33 AM ----------
For examples, here is the Motorola Razr Maxx Vehicle Dock:
http://media.tecca.com/2012/04/14/m...maxx-xt912m-mobile-phones-angleimage-320w.jpg
The original Note vehicle dock:
http://i2.expansys.com/img/b/224728/samsung-original-vehicle-dock-kit-for-galaxy-note-5-3.jpg
3.5mm audio adaptor/USB charger that would plug into the back of the dock and into the usb slot of a car charger
http://www.motorola.com/us/consumer...icle-Docks/m-Custom-Audio-Cable,en_US,pd.html
Now, take those concepts, add the ability to use with/without a case, and that would be the perfect dock.

I have succesfully modded a Note cardock to work on my Note II. I had to put a small piece of Velcro to use as a shim at the bottom, and grind the bottom corners to allow the phone to go further down so it could make contact with the charging port. Works great. Got the dock off Amazon for $30
Edit: 2/6/13
I have been using this mod for a while now but have not been completely satisfied with it. Especially with the way that the micro usb jack was seating into the phone. so I decided to try and solve that issue which solved a couple of other issues... I will explain.
1.Remove the screws from the back of the sliding bottom from the back as shown
2.Then take an exacto knife and gently slide it in the edge and twist opening the tabs as well as the bottom.
3.Remove the 4 screws holding the module board in place and remove board.
4.Shave off the thickness of the circuit board from the standoffs that the board mounts on. if you take a little extra on the tow closest to the front it will tip the jack a bit so you don't need the Velcro shim any longer.
5.Remove the four screws that hold the slider to the mount
6.Take a ratt tailed file and thin out the bottom of the cradle.
7.Reassemble
You now will find that each and every time you insert it into the cradle it will go into your favorite docking program. Mine is CarHome Ultra. You also will have audio coming from the 1/8" jack on the back.
Here is a video link of it in action... http://db.tt/GV1RJwY3
From what I can tell the micro usb jack was not getting fully into the phone causing it to not work as designed. I will also mention that I am on Perseus alpha32 kernel which has been modded to work with docking stations on JB.
I hope you can appreciate this tutorial because I did take the time to un assemble my dock for you just to put these pics online
Hit Thanks if you Like...

Interesting. I thought all accessories were interchangeable. Guess that's not true.
Is the dock's audio output connector working for you? Are you using the US version of the Note II?
Thanks

I'll have to check in the morning.
With the Note II being narrower than the original Note, how snug is the Note II when in place in the modified dock?

They're not the same size, so some modifications will be necessary.
Looks very good but it doesnt seem safe, looks like with couple bumps on the road the phone will drop.

I love a good hack that saves me money but to answer everyone's question, this is NOT a solid solution!!! I have a Note 1 and a Note 1 Samsung Card Dock.
First, getting it in and out of the dock is not easy. You have to line it up just right. Sure a little filing will help with that, but then you loose a little grip. So in the end the only thing holding the phone is the top tension and the tension you apply on the USB plug via the Velcro Shim.
Last of all, I could not get the Audio over USB to work. I did not see anyway to get the GNII to see that it had been placed in a car dock. This might require an additional download but I found nothing on Playstore that supported my phone.
BTW: I tested on the International Version.
Would love to agree with this hack, but just can't
-
So after using this for a few days now I will say the phone fits in just fine I drive 30 miles day and have not had a problem with the phone falling out.
In fact it fits very tight, although I did a little filing on the top tabs. It fits tight enough that you can hear it snap in. It is a great solution and the above poster is stating an opinion. It will not read the phone as being docked because this phone is not capable of that feature. There are topics on this. I do use car ultra home which solves this solution for me. It is ten times better than a universal holder. I will work on a video for you this weekend.
Haven't had a second phone to do the video with yet but been several weeks and I still use it everyday.
The speaker output does work. You have to turn it on in settings/accessories.

I just purchased one of the Note I docks off e-Bay for $15. I made the modification and it charges just fine...but I'm not getting any audio out through the jack on the back of the dock. I've changed the setting in accessories to "Use external speakers when device is docked"...but I don't get any sound. Is there anything else I need to do? I'm replacing my Galaxy SII (same style dock) and I really want to be able to feed Pandora and Google music directly to the aux input on my car stereo.... just as I did with the SII.
Thanks!

I was not able to get the AUX out to work with the car dock. However, I was able to come up with what has turned out to be an even better solution. I'm still using the car dock (original Note dock) for power.
However, I purchased an item from eBay. (just do a search for "Wireless Bluetooth Audio Music Receiver 3.5mm Dongle For Cell Phone MP3 MP4 PC"). This unit is under $10!
With this item...I simply connected via bluetooth from the phone...then connected this unit to the AUX input for my car stereo and works great...and sounds great.
Do you think a Note 2 with a Flip-cover will fit this solution?
Looks like it does, but I'm not sure.
really hope to find a car holder that will fit the Note 2 with a Flip-cover.

No, you will need to remove the flip cover.

DIY Samsung Dex Lapdock made w/ (cheap) iPad Spare Parts *Updated*

*updated pics below* Sorry got a bit caught up with kid stuff and some other time consuming projects, finally got a chance to update some pics
Just want to share one of pet projects I've been working on (to keep me sane from a boring non-IT day job and 3 kids lol):

I've been trying to mod iPad 3s into HDMI screens. And trying to fit a Dex adapter inside as well.
I've been fed up trying to find a lapdock that works and one which I need not wait months to arrive.
Considered the options available like Mirabook, Superbook, etc and thought I might as well make a cheap one out of iPad parts and put it into a keyboard cover.
These are not iPad 3s I'm cannibalizing, but rather cheap spare parts from China (Screen+back casing+gorilla glass front ~= US$30). The whole thing including LCD controller and a cheapo 3rd party Dex adapter costs less than US$60.
iPad 3s are best since they are thick enough to accommodate the parts inside and they have retina screens.
The one connected to GPDWin is the first one I did (plain HDMI monitor without Dex). The back casing is more or less intact with slight mods to accomodate the LCD controller's ports.
The second one connected to the "external" Dex adapter and Note 8 is the one with the Dex inside but which I'm still working on. It's "external" as I have yet to complete connecting the "internal" one. It ain't pretty as I have to fit more inside but hey who cares since the ugly parts will be hidden by the keyboard cover anyway. Here's a quick pic of the "internal" one with LCD controller:
It's late here so I'll post a bit more pics on my progress if anyone's interested...
*updated*
This is "Mark I" which is just a HDMI monitor in an iPad 3 form factor. It kinda fits and the back is more or less intact:
Partner that with an iPad keyboard and you somewhat have a lapdock with a retina screen but looking rather ugly.
So I decided to try "Mark II" - I tried to fit everything that went in Mark I into another iPad 3 shell (again from spare parts) , add in a 3rd party Dex adapter and keep the shell intact in a way that it won't look much different from an iPad in a keyboard cover .
Here's some other pics of in the case:
Fake buttons, they don't do anything yet for now.
USB-C connectors sticking out of the port: one is for power; one is for connecting to my Note 8 (which extension cable). Lot of hotglue. Not very pretty though, I didn't have time to make it look nice, as I always had to wait until the kids went to bed...
Ribbon HDMI cable so that I can connect it to another computer/GPDWin/PS4/Xbox as a second monitor for flexibility. The end is detachable so I can swap in a male/female/mini/micro HDMI connector. Or simply remove it to hide it behind the ipad.
Keyboard cover and iPad lapdock closed
It looks good enough that I wouldn't mind using it outside in Starbucks, etc without looking weird.
The LCD Controller board comes with an IR receiver, which I had hotglued to the camera hole. I don't want to bring an extra remote around so I use my Note 8 (with 3.5mm audio IR emitter) instead if I needed to adjust the monitor's settings (e.g. brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc
So the final pic...mind you it aint pretty inside, and I didn't have the right tools nor the time to cut out a nice hole in the back.
But I managed to fit everything inside, with hotglue and tape. Had some wiring soldered as well.
If i had the time, I would desolder the taller ports and directly solder wires to the board(s).
It looks like a mess, but it works and when it's in the keyboard cover, all of this mess is invisible:
Always interesting to see how people tamper with devices!
So basically those aren't actual iPads but rather screens, correct?
Because by the title I was blown away yet suspicious because there'd be no way iOS would have lightning/usb otg support of any kind.
I think something of interest for you might be developing some kind of "screen mirroring" which utilizes Samsung's inbuilt dex to achieve it. There are apps though, but would be cool to see dex launched without the aid of the dock.
Just throwing it out there, definitely keep us posted!
That's awesome. Someone once put DeX inside an old MacBook Pro, but this form factor is a lot better

I want to know more about that GPD you have
Do you guys remember those sweet lapdocks Motorola had for some of their Droid phones back in the day? Those would be really sweet to modify. There are a few different variations of them, for Droid/Atrix/Razr phones. They have their own build-in battery, screen, keyboard, mouse and 2 USB ports. The following link is just for one variation.

Wow! Thats the first thing that popped into my mind. I was considering this with my Note 4. Right now i use a Microsoft miracast ($45) and a garage sale $25 insignia 24 inch hdtv, bluetooth keyboard with trackpad, and the screen Rotate app.
i was lucky enough to pick one of those docks up from my local radio shack when it was going out of business for $19.99
Com deleted
Im disappointed with Samsung make me buy dex and waiting linux for samsung and doesnt came and now i can guess that you can dex using otg....omg samsung are you want to try like apple? .....
A little off topic but how are you liking the GPD Win pocket PC? I'm thinking of getting the Topjoy Falcon. It's still in kickstarter phase.
That's awesome!
