Hey everyone,
I have a Nexus one running stock 2.2 FRF91 (it came with 2.1 but it updated automatically to 2.2 when I switched it on the first time)
After a while I rooted it using androot and it works just fine. The thing is that I've been reading that, in order to get the 2.3 OTA, I should update it first to 2.2.1 (FRG83). So I started looking for a manual update, I realized I had to unroot the device, so I unrooted it using androot. I could find the FRF91 to FRG83 update, I renamed it to update.zip, pushed it to my memory card and booted into recovery. When I go to update from the update.zip file, I get a "E:Signature verification failed" error. I re-downloaded the same update from different places many times, but I get the same problem. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for your help everyone.
Omar.
you first need to install FRG33 then FRG83 after which OTA will bring it up to FRG83D.
Search forums for the files and instructions. I'll try and find them when I'm on the laptop and post the link

Flash back to stock kernel or flash new stock rom.
Well Thanks,
But i don't have enough knowledge how to flash the kernel and moreover
my SGS doesn't have 3 Button Combo work..
Anyway since you are very helpful can i ask whether it safe or not to update to 2.2.1 or 2.3 when it will be available through Kies?
My phone running JPO 2.2 and recognize the kies..

hey everyone
i've got a problem here ><" researched all day but couldn't find the answer..
i updated my phone today to gingerbread 2.3.3 KF1 using Odin and then rooted it using the Rooted Kernel and Odin so i could uninstall all those stock apps which i didn't want. now im done uninstalling them, how do i unroot my phone ? ...
You should be able to use SuperOneClick (works every time for me) to unroot your phone. Just make sure it is in usb debug mode (settings>applications>debugging).
Install z4 root app on your cappy,it is the easiest method to root and unroot.....!
Just one click in the app and your unrooted and another click your rooted.....
Easy right?

i love my new note!!!
but damb is this rooting and custom roms a big headache at times!
i just rooted my note using zergrush's newest version.
i cant seem to get rocket rom working.
i have rom manager and try to install from sd card.
all goes good then i get this weird "failed to verify whole-file signature"
i have reading for about 7 hours now. i need help desperately!
You need to make sure the kernel you're running is from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 to get ClockWork Mod Recovery, rooting alone isn't enough. You will then get the CWM App (a sort custom rom manager) then you can install your ROMs.
i did step 1.2 of the second post of that thread
the zerg method using this firmware CF-Root-SGN_XX_AUT_KKA-v5.0-CWM5.zip
my note has KKA kernal
You must use 'cwm' app. Not rom manager.

hello,
well, i never rooted a phone before and already did some research,
already tried to root with the superoneclick root program, stucked at step #7 waiting for device.
got odin3 installed but dont got files and no idea where to get from and no idea what order to do the stuff, my firmware and stuff is completely standard from the factory settings.
any help perhaps? :$
Find a root package for your phone and flash it with stock Android recovery. The best way.
thnx

And get a kernel with integrated cwm recovery such as CF-Root
Just remember that SuperOneClick was meant for Froyo and not Gingerbread...

I had the same problem (using Windows XP).
Once I removed Microsoft .net Framework 4.0 and installed 2.0 instead, Superoneclick worked perfectly for me.
Here this is a very simple guide with everything you meed in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
