[Q] Need help : First time Android User - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the Galaxy S GT-i9000 Indian version with Eclair 2.1 Update 1 (Baseband version DDJG4).
I have been using it fairly well and had no issues with connecting it with Kies 1.5.3.10093_82. Only since today I am facing a problem with Kies that when connected it gives a message "Disable USB storage" and thereafter the MTP application keeps switching on and off trying to connect. Therefater if I see my settings it shows the SD card & Storage (both internal and external) as Unavailble. Only if I switch the phone on & Off does the storage shows properly.
Can someone help me and advise what could the problem be and what should I do as now I am unable to connect to Kies

[Q] Galaxy S USB problem. Again :)

I have previously used my Galaxy S with Kies and Odin. Had some mtp / USB problems previously which I sorted out.
At the moment, if I plug the USB cable into my phone, it only charges. I have searched the forums here and followed the answers such as; uninstalling kies and usb drivers and cleaning the registry etc...
I have also unmounted and removed the external sd card and reformatted the internal sd card. I have the latest version of Kies. Windows 7 simply doesn't notice the phone being plugged in. It doesn't even say unrecognised device. Just does nothing
Any help would be appreciated.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate and my phone is running a froyo ROM that i got on XDA. I think it is JPK but not certain.
I know you have seen a number of similar threads, however I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thank you.
Edit: I also did a factory reset.
Edit: I uninstalled windows media player 12. I can now connect only in mass storage mode. Kies mode gives error "USB Device Not Recognised".

[Q] Kies not connecting - Connecting the device.

With almost one month of research and troubleshooting, my SGS drivers are installed properly. Atatched (first 3 files) are the status I get when I connect my SGS now (In Kies Mode)
However when I launch Kies it keeps trying to find the Phone...
I have rmeoved all files with long file names from my phone.
I have tried unmounting internal storage.
I have tried unmounting and formatting internal storage (what a pain).
I do not have any other launcher.
I have disabled Voodoo lag fix..
I can not change com port as that option not available in Win7
I have uninstalled Windows Media Player.
I am using Windows 7 (32 bit) with Kies 1.5.3.10103_100 (today's latest Kies) and 2.1 on my SGS.....
Anything else am I missing?

[Q] MTP Application starts but nothing happens on PC

After I flashed my phone to 2.2.1, the MTP application doesnt seem to work anymore (PC side, at least thats' what I think).
What I did:
1. Backed up with Titanium Backup
2. Factory/Cache wipe
3. Flashed 2.2 Froyo
4. Flashed 2.2.1 JPU
Now, when I connect the phone to any of my PC's (I have 3, all with W7 one of them 64-bit), the phone says "MTP Application Started", on the PC side, the devices show to be "Ready to use" but the phone doesn't appear in the "Computer" window (or on the navigation pane on the left of Win Explorer), where before the I9000T would show and a phone icon on it.
I can still mount it as mass storage but I prefered the MTP app because it clearly showed which was phone storage and external SD storage (and I'm very distracted dude so I *will* one day confuse them both in mass storage mode).
On one PC I have KIES installed, on the other 2 I just have the drivers that are linked somewhere in these forums installed.
So, any ideas? Anybody else encountered this?
Thanks in advance

[Q] Help, I cannot write to my external microsd [SOLVED]

I don't know why, I'm in mass storage mode and I expected to just be able to copy and paste files like in Samsung Wave (or any other phones) but I cannot do it in Galaxy S.
Never liked mass storage mode. Enable USB debugging mode instead. Go to menu ->settings ->Applications -> Development -> USB debugging. Once connected to the PC, pull down the notification menu and select connect.
Thank you. Tried it but it doesn't work too. The micro sd partitions do not appear even if usb mode (debugging) is connected already.
Am I the only one experiencing this?
did you pull the notification bar and choose to connect to ur comp? if ur on froyo, once you click " mass storage " you should then see a green android on the screen with the option to connect to the computer. if you dont see the notification, unplug the usb and try again.
SOLVED after updating my firmware to JPU. Thank you for the help guys! It was as I suspected. For some reason, my phone owned the external microsd's filesystem after formatting (I was using JP2 firmware). I formatted it again after flashing to JPU and voila, all problems fixed.

[Q] Internal and External card issues

Guys
I have a wierd problem with the usb connections in Froyo 2.2 version. Each time I try to connect my galaxy to computer, I am seeing 2 different drives on my computer but they are inaccessible. So I went to the USB connection from the homescreen roll out and then clicked "connect to usb" button. Normally, after clicking that button, I should get a pop up window to ask if I a want to mount the sdcard or not. Unfortunately, I am not getting that dialogbox and I am not able to mount the sdcards at all. Instead, I am having only the option to turn off usb. By doing this, my camera starting working perfectly. But if I restart my mobile for any reason, then both the internal and external card memories and camera are getting inaccessible.
Although I have inserted a 16gb of external memory card, because of these issues I am not able to access that as well. The mount SD card menu and is not working at all. Any help to resolve the above isssu is highly appreciated.
I am currently on Factory rom with following specifications.
Baseband Version I9000DXJPB,
Firware Version - 2.2;
Kernel version - 2.6.32.9 root-at-SE-S604 #1;
Build Number : FROYO.DXJPE
Although this is a basic problem that most of the galaxy owners must be experiencing it I couldnt find the right anwer anywhere on the net.
So Droidbraines out there - please help me.
Regards
vbrsekhar
