Hi I updated my SGS by mistake to JP2, I thought I updated it to the newest Froyo version out there. I know wonder if I can just update to JP6 using Odin and the 803.pit file or is there anything else I need to do first?
TIA
/Daniel
Bump.
Anybody?

Hi there guys.
I can't remember whether my SGS had the JF3 firmware out of the box or not. And, since both JM7 and JM8 are not cutting it for me, I'd like to revert back to my phone's stock firmware. Is there a way to find out what the firmware "out of the box" used to be?
Thanks in advance.
europe = JM2 latest stock
Thank you for your reply.
So JM2 is basically the latest non-beta firmware version?
Also, should I use the "usual" method to flash JM2 and should I get the files at samfirmware?
Please bear with me as I am very new to this flashing stuff.
samfirmware is fast and easy
or you can do it via Kies but it's a challenge dealing with Kies as most people can tell you

Kies would not update me past JM1. I flashed an old firmware to my phone and as expected Kies prompted me for a firmware update. Only to JM1 though and after JM1 was installed it said my phone was up to date, idk if this is the same for everyone else just letting you know ...
Is it even possible to "downgrade" by using Kies? Cause I can't seem to get it to work, even with all of the registry hacks described in several threads, here on XDA.
Guess I'll have to use Odin after all...

I have encountered the same in the past. Not sure on which productcode JM2's available.
I had JPK on my galaxy s before attempting to go to the official froyo. What i did:
i downgraded to jf3
what i did before was then upgrade that but now it does not work
can anyone help me and tell me why i cant upgrade to jm1 and then to the official froyo from that and a possible solution if you have one please
thank you
Did you have any lagfix installed by any chance? If yes, did you remove it before attempting to upgrade to Froyo?

i have updated my Galaxy S fw to JPM via registry hack...
now i want to update it to JPO via Kies too...but it shows nothing to update...
is there any method to make Kies offer me JPO update?
thanks before
Dont try JPO its bit buggy and slow compare to JPM. I tried the JPO
Hi Guys,
I did the reg trick and had the Kies download froyo JP6. (swedish)
Just out of curiosity, connected to Kies today -
Kies upgraded to 1.5.3.10103_100
and is offering a firmware upgrade too:
Current version: PDA:JP6 / Phone: JPM /CSC:JP4
Latest version: PDA:JPA/ Phone: JPP /CSC: JP4
Is this a newer Froyo ?
Would you recommend disable lagfix and reset to factory defaults?
Thanks
Yes JPA is newer than JP6. Always uninstall lag fix prior to flashing ROM. It is recommended to perform factory reset and delete cache but not absolutely necessary.
Thanks - just installed it. But kinda regretting it now.
I tried to use One-Click to root it - and getting a weird
E:signature verification failed
Is there any issue with rooting JPA?
Need recovery 2e
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

No issues with the Dutch JPA firmware. Flashed it thru Kies, then CF root and voodoo on it and running smoothly now.
Hi Lads.
I've also updated to [PDA:JPA/ Phone: JPP /CSC: JP4] and now can't figure out, which file to use from this post to Root it...
Can somebody please suggest?
Thanks in advance.
[Update]
This one worked fine for me: CF-Root-JPJPA-v1.2-Busybox-1.17.1.zip
Hi all,
I am on the current official JPO firmware and latest Kies. I was wondering if there is a way to force Kies to reflash the same firmware back. My GPS was working great when I initially upgraded to JPO but something's happened and now its just crap
Thanks in advance
