[Q] Stock Launcher for Froyo FRG83 - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Has anyone found or ripped out the stock launcher from the Latest Rom yet?I have Been searching for it on this site all day. If someone could post a link I would greatly appreciate it a lot! As many other like me will as well.

Just download the latest stock ROM (or latest deodexed stock ROM) and take it out.

Here you go, just pulled it off my phone. Why you want it I have no idea, it's nothing special

Thanks a lot Rusty! Really appreciate it. For me that's just it, its nothing special. Adw is ok but I don't like it as well as launcher pro. If I had to chose between the two it would be Adw but I just prefer Stock launcher.

Tried to but failed, not quite sure what I did but failed.

Failed in what way?

Its not installing, it says installation failed.I also tried to put it in the root folder didn't take as well.

You can flash this zip I made back in the day. I updated it with the latest Launcher2 built from AOSP so perhaps even slightly newer than the FRG83 one. If you want just the apk, you can just extract it of course.

Thanks! I flashed it and worked Thanks again dude.

Why is that download so damn slow?
Mediafire is a real good Hoster to download directly to my cellphone, but for now, it downloads only with 5kb/s . Just boring :S
I hope this Version works for me, until it's down in 6 Minutes^^
EDIT: Does not work :/

are u running 2.2+ android ?
honestly I'm running CM6.1 final with 2708 kernel/hack
I never tried installing manually and created the flashable update and it worked like a charm on CM6.1 Final 2708
It simply replace Vending.apk to the newest version and chmod 644 /system/app/Vending.apk also...
You do need a recovery that accept test-keys AKA rooted & unlocked BUT why aren't rooted yet ?
Thank you
This looks great. No problems I just flashed and it works great!
I got this to work by going into "Titanium Backup" and on the MARKET app, chose the wipe data button, then un-installed the old version of "Market".
Then I rebooted and ran the update.zip and it worked!
Hope this works for you!

I did even release a 2.3 sdk port to G1 since so much ppl were kindly asking for it
Nothing worth a mention IMO lol
I'm gonna give a few of my spare time to G1 dev <3 paste your adb logcat on pastebin so I can check
That would really help

does anyone have a flashable version of the froyo market so i wont have to wipe? thanx in advance
I'm wondering how to flash this onto a phone o.o
I'm new to the flashing, rooting etc stuff ><
Edit : Continued searching and found out it has to do with recovery mode. Just cant figure out how to switch to recovery on galaxy 3
Did a nand backup, flashed the zip, rebooted, FC on Market before even launching, launched Market and a white screen. Restored from nand to get back up. Running OTA 2.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811620)
Any ideas? Manual installation via ADB?
To save you the trouble of putting the adb method , you can refer to my post .
It does the same thing but manually and its working for sure (Eclairs and Froyo ) : )

Cheers !
I just got this OTA update for market. I just backed up my old market, then installed this from the SD like a regular app. I didn't have any problems or need special permissions. Maybe someone could try this if they're having problems with the flashable or adb.
Two threads?
Ok so someone else started a thread for this in the development section which I thought to be weird, just wanted you to know, here is the thread. Personally I would rather just have one, yours : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872526

did exactly what he did here, nd works like a charm
is this flashable to sd card? I have cyanogen 6.1.0 android 2.2(froyo). Its probably a dumb question. But I'm asking this because theres another thread which indicated on his post that he didn't make his flashable. And its similar to this except that one runs on adb. So I'm wondering if this is flashable?

same rom..same problem
even doing adb doesnt work
Okay. So i have my g1 rooted. With froyo 2.2 cyanogen 6.1 ROM. As you may know, it doesn't come with google apps. So market isn't available. I've been looking all over the web. Trying each and everyone's market.apk and market.zip . All doesn't work. I tried normal install from a file manager. Nothing. Tried adb process. Pushing it. Still not working. Tried android command, still not working. And finally, your file, which i flashed. Still didn't work. All of them I got the same. When I open market, I just get a white blank, then after 5 seconds, goes back to the desktop screen. Any ideas to help me? Would really appreciate it.
Or I was thinking of doing this. Reflash the stock android 1.6 with root and then try the market. If it works, use nandroid back up. And then flash cyanogen 6.0 froyo 2.2 and restore the backup that i made with the market. DO you think that will work?
succesfully installed on my g1 cynogenmod but the market get fc when i try to download

Just wanted to post, thank you. Running SS4.9 on a droid, was having problems getting this app to work until your post. Downloaded and renamed to update.zip and so far is working like a charm.
Thank you very much.

Android Markey Froyo 2.2 Problems

I have been trying to resolve this issue for a day now. I flashed to 2.2 Froyo, unlocked and rooted my Stock Rogers Samsung Captivate. Everything is working fine, I started downloaded all my favourite apps back when I had stock firmware. A few hours into using my phone, I noticed apps that I used to be able to find weren't showing up. I am not sure if it is related, but I noticed this after removing bloatware with titanium backup.
I installed following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861103
After searching forums for hours, the solution seemed simple, modifying a line of code in the build.prop file and overwriting the old one. I have tried this one:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys
with no luck. I decided to reflash the 2.2 rom as I assumed removing the bloat ware was the cause, but I am still having the same market issues.
I am not sure where to go from here, did anyone experience similar problems? Any possible solutions? I really want DBZ scouter back

I got the Cognition files and the Odin standalone, but I'm confused as to where to get the other files
• PIT.pit
• PDA.tar
• PHONE.tar
• CSC.tar
I can't find the download link on the thread

Cognition has had this since the first release
Im trying to find the Cognition Odin install but its not on the site, the site only has the ROM files. I would ideally want to install with rom manage as it would be a lot easier but my market is so messed up its not even showing up when i search it.

you dont need to install rom manager
put the update.zip on your sdcard and reboot to recovery....
reinstall packages (it will reboot, just reinstall packages again)
you will now be in clockwork
install zip from sdcard, and point to the rom

Thank you so much for the zip file, everything went smoothly. I liked the voice telling me how much time each process would take. However, when I searched the app store for DBZ scouter it still cant find it, or any other paid apps! This is getting really frustrating. Should I give it a few minutes/hours for the paids apps to show up? I am enjoying the rom though, very smooth compared to the stock ones.
It looks like I'm not the only one

Moved to Q&A.

Getting ready to flash firefly, have one question!

just downloaded the firefly 2.7 with clock and before i start i wanna ask one question, tried searching around but couldn't get what i was looking for. when i look how to flash the firefly 2.7 rom, the guide that i am reading is wanting me to download clockwork update zip to flash the rom. when i flashed cognition 4.3 i didn't do that, i just re-rooted my phone and downloaded rom manager and got into clockwork like that. that is the way im most comfortable doing it, because ive had one successful flash that way. will this work for this rom also? thanks
Basically it's the same thing. the update.zip is the same as the one created by clockwork recovery. You can install clockwork and then install this ROM, either way will work.
Yes that way will work. However, if you download all the stuff you need for flashing roms and save it to one folder, its just as fast as going through Rom manager and makes you feel like your following the instructions.
Also if you download the update.zip you wont have to root and install rom manager. Assuming you flashed back to stock with odin before firefly.
does 2.7 already have the Gallery.apk without battery drain. and if it doesn't do i just d/l it, replace it with other Gallery.apk and boot into recovery and reinstall packages?
You can replace the Gallery.apk with SGSTools
Can I download the gallery apk file from my phone? What would be the next step for me to take after that? Now I know how to flash roms, I now need to figure out how to edit files like that.
Sgs tools, upgrade stock apps, modded 3d gallery. It will install it for you. thats it.
They also have the gallery app from a Desire, and yes, its the one WITHOUT the battery drain bug. I personally have switched to Quickpic.

That's a little easier than I thought it was gonna be. This rom is awesome. Scored lower on quadrant test but higher on the antutu test tho!

The only benchmark that matters with a Captivate is your calibrated fingertip.

[Q] reached brickwall with themes

hi.
i've had a galaxy i9000 for a few weeks now and today i decided to root the thing so i could try some sick themes.
rooting went fine, it's all done properly (i think...).
i got metamorph and tried to install this theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726912
after a bit of persuasion, i got the phone to install it successfully, or so i thought. it asked me to reboot, so i did, but there are no changes to the phone, the default theme is still active.
excuse the bluntness, but what the hell do i need to do to get a theme running? i've spent like 2 hours trawling the net reading about cyanogenmod, nandroid, busybox and metamorph and i'm possibly more confused than when i started.
cheers
The ROM you use needs to be De-Odexed
if you are running a stock ROM, then you will never get a theme installed.
there are many Custom Stock - De-Odexed ROMs out there, if you like the stock feel
You should probably have clockworkmod to install the themes too. You can get this by flashing a custom kernel. E.g speedmod for froyo or CFroot for Gingerbread(make sure you get the right version for your rom) and flash either one with odin, read up before flashing and make sure you have download and recovery modes.
So most themes require:
A deodexed rom
CWM to install the theme
I didnt realise you are on CM7 - its still early and i didnt wake up long ago.
anyway a CM7 ROM will be de-odexed so scrap my last post. I dont know if that version is compatible with your version of CM7, However there is a theme section for CM7 only, and thats in the themes and apps section.
also when i was running CM7 you dont need to flash the theme in recovery. You install it like an .apk and there is a built in theme manager app with CM7 - you look in there for your theme and then hit install
is that what you have been doing ??

ok.
well, i'm running froyo firmware v2.2 and kernal v2.6.32.9.
so, what apps exactly do i need from here? i have a rooted phone with superuser, rom manager, metamorph and busybox.
so damn confusing, every page of information i read just clutters me up. there seems to be a sea of different versions of everything that are all incompatible with each other.
all i want to do is install some different themes.
quick bump. so close to knowing what to do, just need someone to quickly explain!
i thought u was running cyanogenMod ??
anyway, is your froyo rom a custom rom ?? if so its as simple as flashing it in recovery

My advice:
Install CF root, install clockworkmod recovery, download the theme you want and place it in your internal sd card.Boot in recovery, choose zip from sd card, flash it,reboot ready.
the rom still needs to be de-odexed, if its a stock rom with a custom kernel it still wont work
ok, what the hell is CF?
I DLed the latest CM "nightly" whatever that means for my phone but havent installed it to my phone yet cause im not sure how.
as for being a custom ROM or whatever, the phone is basically stock outta the box apart from being rooted.
thats why themes wont work, your still on stock.
CF root is a kernel, which gives you 2e CWM recovery...
Cyanogen can be a little tricky to install so i would HIGHLY recommend you read the instructions 5 times plus. or get used to flashing simple custom roms first.
I agree, dont mess with cm or miui till you are competent flasher
Sent from gt i9000 insanity 8.5/fugumod
For me GingerReal or Simply Honey have been fairly simple to install. Just folow the instructions to the letter.
Then you can simply can flash any themes from CMW

[Q] What has been done to my milestone? Which ROM is this?

I bought used milestone 2 days ago and it is slow. I know its rooted because there is superuser icon.
But because of my noobity i dont know what he installed then. Strange thing is that it says Android version 2.2.1 which should be Froyo, but launcher looks like Eclair.
Screenshot pics are below, can you conclude what has he done? And what would you suggest?
About phone in settings: ttp://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/222/20120927013327.jpg/
Home screen like Eclair: ttp://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/713/20120927013831.jpg/
Im not allowed to post links so i removed letter h from my screenshot links. I hope that doesnt break the rules. I apologize if it does.
If i were you, i would definitely do a Factory Reset. Not because of the launcher (probably it's just a custom one), but the slowness.
Besides that, i would install kabaldan's CM7 or CM10.
I did factory reset and everythings the same, so i decided to install something else.
It is already rooted but i dont really know what im doing so i would like to go by some of those tutorials for rooting and installing rom. Can i do the same process as if it wasnt already rooted?
I mean, is it a bit more simple if its already rooted?
Would i mess something up if i did everything from the beggining as in tutorial?
THIS is the best tutorial you can get.
It's for CM7 which you can download from HERE.
But if you decide to give CM10 a try, you will find a link to the latest nighly in my signature, and a guide to make it bootable here.

It took Motorola forever to bring the 2.2 Update - but still they didn't manage to integrate the Froyo launcher.
Might as well be the official 2.2.1.
Anyhow - the stock roms are pretty bad - use CM (7 or 10, I prefer 7) or something CM-based (like MIUI).
The installation process is the same for every ROM.
Flash vulnerable recovery partition, install Open Recovery, wipe, apply update.zip.
For details refer to the tutorials Erovia posted.
