[Q] Mapping a "Back/Home/Option/Search" key on a Bluetooth Keyboard - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a Bluetooth Keyboard and I was wondering if there is a way to map a key on that keyboard to function as the four soft keys (Back/Options/Home/Search).
The keyboard works fine but having to go back to press "Back" etc kinda defeats the purpose.

I'd like to do this too, did you find anything out Jon?

my modification of key layout

hey just making this suggestion for everybody, its something i did
I suggest remapping the smiley key on the keyboard to SEARCH and the symbol key to TAB, this way you can effectively use the quicklaunch shortcut keys on the right side of the keyboard, and you can use the tab key.

Shortcut keys for logitech keyboard?

After getting a usb female/female adaptor asnd finding a usb hostmode apk tyuping on android is actually pretty nice. My problem now is what about shortcut keys? There is no search button or menue key because desktop keyboard. alt tab and windows-key tab do the same thing. Ctrl c/v/x does wha'ts expected, but actual navigation is hard to manage.
I know chrome/browser and gmail have shortcut keys, but since I can't get to the home screen or apps list from keyboard or in the case of IM+ can't use keyboard to navigate between convrosations kinda bums me out.
Yes yes trying to turn tablet into a desktop. Hurr Hurr go get a laptop.

Click to collapse
If you hook up a mouse too, you can use the mouse and click on home and back, etc. So its very much like a desktop then. A powered usb hub works for that.
It looks like windows key + esc might work as shortcut for home, but never tried it so maybe:
"If you want to test things out, try pressing the “Windows” key (“Apple” or “Command”) + ESC, and you will be whisked to your Home screen."
http://www.howtogeek.com/175267/the...-bluetooth-keyboard-with-your-android-device/
They also list these and more:
" ESC = go back
CTRL + ESC = menu
CTRL + ALT + DEL = restart (no questions asked)
ALT + SPACE = search page (say “OK Google” to voice search)
ALT + TAB (ALT + SHIFT + TAB) = switch tasks "
Who knows what else is lurking out there...

Missing keys on Tab S5e Keyboard Cover

Regarding the UK version of this keyboard, I can't seem to figure out how to input '~' or '#' symbols with the key that displays '~', '#', '|', '\'.
Anyone figured this out?
'Pg up', 'Pg down', 'Home' and 'End' can be emulated by holding 'ALT' and pressing the directions but only sometimes.
e.g. 'ALT' + Left arrow will execute the back action in Chrome browser.
Same for 'Esc' when holding 'ALT' and pressing the top left button. This does not seem to be just the escape function when using VIM in a terminal.
This is quite frustrating because I purchased this setup to do server work and I use these keys quite often.
I don't know how to help you, but can't you install the KeyMapper app to set key combinations for the missing keys?
