Guys,
Just added a new sd card (2gb) on my SGS. Post adding the card on file manager external_sd is the 1gb card now but my internal nand memory and all the files which were in it have disappeared. I know removing the 2gb card will get me back my nand contents and also make external_sd as the 16gb memory. Question here is, is it not possible to have both the 2gb and the 16gb memory blocks and it's contents at my disposal from the phone itself?? Just like it is available when the phone is connected to the computer??
bump to the top!!

Since all my apps are installed in my memory card and my phone memory is empty, is there a way for me to access it from PC and put in files inside it so that i can make use of the large empty space?
Do you mean phones memory or internal sd card
Your apps are installed on your "phone" memory by default, did you move them to your internal sd card? If you didn't move them check if you have some huge backups in your clockwordmod folder or too much music/videos on your internal sd card ;-)
RAM 512Mb but you only have aprox 326 Mb for yourself, the rest are used by the OS and System Services.
Internal SD, can come in 8GB models or 16GB models
External SD, is whatever SDHC micro SD card you want to insert into it, supports up to 32GB micro SD cards
the Internal SD is split in 2 GB for System OS Apps, and whatever is left over is yours to use.
the Internal SD is aprox a Class 4 SD card
Amd what about system types on internal sd? What is reason for so slow stock i/o? FS type? LagFix i choosed store data on same chip...

exactly because of that the internal SD is split into 2 active partitions, by having the swap file on another SD card, then it lessen the access time

Ok! But..... CFLagFix-1.70 moves files to internal SD, not external.
It was in internal, and became also internal. So what's the difference?
Ok, maybe another partition, but same storage! May by file system structure, heard about some journals??? or what else??
Hi there,
This is a bit of a noob question.
When I go to system setting I see 3 memory storage.
1. Internal phone storage
2. Internal SD card
3. External SD card
My question is, by default, do apps get installed on internal phone storage?
Cos it's only around 2GB.
Also, when you move apps to SD card by going into setting-applications,
does it move to internal SD card or External SD card??
Many thanks in advance!
My Captivate is running Android 2.2. I have a 2 gig external SD card. On the memory specs, it says the internal SD is 13GB, and the phone memory is 1.34 Gigs. I have the option of installing or moving applications between Phone memory or SD card.
1. Does phone memory mean the 1.34 gigs, or does it refer to the 13GB internal SD card.
2. When you install/move to SD card, which SD card is it referring to, the internal or the external?
They should make this a little clearer.

You app can be move either on your internal or external. I believe the app will move them to the internal by default.
As for your phone memory, I'm sure sure what you're trying to know here
i just kinda was writing about this
normally the apps get installed to the internal storage (the almost 2GB)
all apps2 sd methods install to the external SD
there is no way to install to the internal SD (the 13GB), that i have come across.
but it is really hard to fill up the 2GB internal storage.
for more kinda info see my thread from 10 minutes ago.
Apps2sd - internal sd? why the hell not?
I just got a new revo yesterday, and while poking around I noticed that the 12 Gb of internal memory is mounted as an sd card, while the actual sd card is mounted as a sub dir called _ExternalSD. Has anyone else noticed this?
Yep, you have 16gb internal and 16gb external
Yeah, but the point is that the internal memory is not being mounted as internal, it's being mounted as an sd card (with the actual sd card being a sub directory). I can see several problems with this, mostly with trying to transfer data. Or if you had a 32 GB card that you wanted to use for whatever instead, unless you can specify where a program stores stuff, it's going to store data on the "SD Card", which in this case is not the removable sd card. I guess if you want to transfer stuff you just have to remember to move it all the the "_ExternalSD" sub directory first, or you are going to plug your card in somewere else and wonder why there's nothing on it...
Not sure about your phone but mine saves to the real sd card. things i want on my internal memory, things i want saved on my sd card go to external sd card.
