It shows up under language and keyboard settings, and from there I can check it, but right here as I'm typing this I cannot find any swype options to change to. Does anyone know the solution? Thanks
Hold your finger down on any text box then select input method the swype and you should be set

So, if you don't like the Swype keyboard for some reason, the settings menu on the Streak 7 does not give the "Input Method" option. I finally found a way to change the input method.
If you go to the AccuWeather app, which should be preinstalled, and go to enter a new location, you will be asked what input method to use. From there, you can choose the regular keyboard, Swtpe, and most likely, any installed keyboards. This setting should stick, even in other applications.
I know this isn't exactly the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I hope it helps someone out
Normally under android you can long press any text input box and it will give you the option of changing input method you can then select any available keyboards that way
If you download a new keyboard or something, you have to remember to turn it on in settings before you can use it

Hey guys,
I bought my LG Optimus Black today and installed Zeus ROM
There's no Arabic keybaord and when I install some from the market they don't appear in Settings.
Any help?
Thnx in advance
You ll have to enable them, some need to be enabled in: settings --> Language and keyboard (checkbox), then go to SMS app or any other text app, go to new message, click the text area, hold your finger there, a new window opens, click input method, choose the new keyboard you installed and be happy ever after
The problem is that they don't appear in Language and Keyboard
And here?
then go to SMS app or any other text app, go to new message, click the text area, hold your finger there, a new window opens, click input method, choose the new keyboard you installed and be happy ever after

Just tell me which keyboard you want to use, then I'll try it at my phone and give you a short how to I mean which one specifically.

It seems like there was a problem in the keyboard, installed another one and it works now !
Thanks for your help
I installed the RenovateRom, which is really great. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202696
But since they Removed the "select input method" notification. I dont know how to change the keyboard, i wanna use the original jellybean keyboard.
can anyone help me how to change the keyboard ?
thanks in advance.
What about if you just go into settings, language and input or something like that, then keyboard. Select keyboard and I would think you would be good.
On most keyboards, if you hold down on one of the buttons such as "spacebar" or "123" or one of ones on the bottom row, it will give you pop up a box to select your keyboard. On the stock JB keyboard, you hold the space bar to get the pop up.
hi,
i tried both. no way to change the keyboard on HTC ONE with your hints.
very strange.
someone any other idea ?
You can download something called "input select method" from the play store. I love the renovate roms but can never understand why they remove the input method selector.
Anyhow, hope that helps.

Does anyone know how to delete DEFAULT words from the HTC Dictionary? I like the keyboard, but it enrages me beyond belief that 90% of the time I try and swipe or type "and" it auto types "abd". Who would EVER need to type abd, and why would you choose it over "and". I would rather not choose another keyboard because I like the OS integration of the default sense keyboard and its built in emojis but this is driving me nuts. I'm rooted, so is there a file I can edit?

Don't know if I understood correctly, but it seems "abd" is saved in your personal dictionary, if so go to SETTINGS -> Language & keyboard -> HTC Sense Input -> Personal dictionary -> press the 3-dot menu, press delete, and select the words you want to delete.
Or try turning off the auto correct option.

Stupid abd instead of and
I am having the same issue with the abd instead of and. Please let me know when someone knows how to fix this!
Dictionary rage continued. Go but...
Dear XDA Developers,
I have a number of frequently used English words missing form my HTC Sensation dictionary. The most common being "go" and "but".
I´ve tried to add them to the dictionary, but they aren´t predicted the next time and aren´t even available from the list of choices, even though other bizarre and mis-spelled words are.
I´ve tried everything. Resetting the dictionary. Syncing the phone with my personal dictionary. Adding them in all kinds of ways. I did finally have some sucess and managed to add "go"... however "but" is still not recognised. Any thoughts appreciated.
Many thanks,
John
I cannot stand the lack of spellcheck using bt keyboard in mail app.
many of us use this thing for business. I am constantly typing up emails in hancom word, spellchecking then cut/paste into gmail....so brutal.
How about changing your keyboard. I use touchpal.
Or change your email app.
What email app has spellcheck?
The keyboard idea won't help as I am using a Bt keyboard. I realize touch keyboard has autocorrect.
I think you misunderstood the suggestion from DUHAsianSKILLZ - changing the keyboard application on your phone to one that will utilize spell check while using the Bluetooth keyboard. The recommendation was TouchPal, and SwiftKey was also recommended in another forum.
wosiek, I am hopeful your response is an answer...but I dont understand. If i put on swiftkey (which I use when not using bt keyboard) it auto corrects. When I use my bt keybaord, the on screen keyboard (swiftkey) is disabled....not sure how it helps

Sorry. I could have sworn Aquamail had spell check, but no, it is through the keyboard. Apologies for the misdirect.

Haven't tried it, but Swiftkey is supposed to have a "physical keyboard" setting that allows it to detect a BT keyboard and take it's input allowing it to provide spell check. I haven't tried it myself, but found a lot of references to it when I was just googling out of curiosity.
Sweet! I'll look into that
I want to thank all of you here! The tablet is now "perfect" . SwiftKey running on tab with Bt keyboard is perfect. Nice to have a line of predictions at the bottom with no virtual keyboard in the way!
Thanks again!

I have the logitech BT keyboard and whenever I try to configure it for Swiftkey to spellcheck I get prompted to change "language and input." The physical keyboard is already added with "English - US Android Keyboard" selected. Also, the "Use onscreen keyboard" is not turned on. Am I missing something because I can't get the line of predictions at the bottom that you describe?
Thanks
Yes. Install SwiftKey. Activate it. Then (here's the revelation part)....swipe down and turn off the on screen keyboard. Will reveal the predictions
And.... Now with an update. This no longer works. Agggggvg

With a recent upgrade (within late two weeks), I also lost the predictive line when using my Bluetooth keyboard. This happened months ago on a different tablet but somehow I got that fixed. So far I've not found how to fix it on my Tab S. I really liked that feature as it helped improve my pitiful spelling and made typing a little faster.

The predictive line still works when NOT using a Bluetooth keyboard. My touch pad still works on my Bluetooth keyboard but I'm a bit confused about your question and what a "touch pal" has to do with this issue.

Anyone know if either "TouchPal" or "Swiftkey" has a plain default overlay like this one? I prefer the plain Android default keyboard since the letters seem larger when it doesn't have to share the key with numbers or symbols.
I'm new and can't link to the keyboard but here is a photo if you want to see what I mean...
home dot comcast dot net/~csurvine/MyFilelocker/Keyboard.jpg
Edit to add... I would also like it to have control so I can do copy, paste etc...
I guess what I thought was plain Android default keyboard was really Samsung's default keyboard.
But I still prefer it's cleaner look without the alternate symbols in with the letters. This allows for larger letters which my old eyes can see better and my shaky thumbs can hit better...
