[Q] Officially unlocked HD7 - HD7 General

expansys-usa.com
They claim that they have unbranded unlocked HD7 phones.
I called them and they confirmed that.
I just don't believe it because in the manufacture# it says HD7TMO
which stands for t-mobile in the US
Also can anyone please tell me the difference between
expansys-usa.com/htc-hd7-windows-phone-7-smartphone-unlocked-1700-2100-3g-204907
and
expansys-usa.com/htc-hd7-windows-7-smartphone-unlocked-900-2100-3g-205380
I asked them and they said the frequency is different in each but when you read
the description of tech in each they have the same frequency requirement.
Plus the second model manf# is HD7EU which stands for European and I want a
US model. This website is confusing please can anyone help?
I would really appreciate it.

sorry(deleted) ..wrong thread.

"expansys-usa.com/htc-hd7-windows-phone-7-smartphone-unlocked-1700-2100-3g-204907" This one is for US T-Mobile (3G = 1700/2100)
"expansys-usa.com/htc-hd7-windows-7-smartphone-unlocked-900-2100-3g-205380" This one is for European/Asia (3G = 900/2100)

My love and hate for the HD7!

I love the HD7, but I HATE the “t-mobile” logo. It’s hideous! That logo will 100% make me disregard from dropping any cash on that device.
1) Can I get the European version and use it on t-mobile’s 3G network? I assume the new HD7 does not has hspa+.
2) BTW, why is it that the euro HD2 does not have a carrier logo on it?
anyone? whats do u think?
If the HD7 does launch on a international carrier I'm sure you can unlocks it's sim, but don't expect any Tmo-US 3G. Tmobile USA isn't using the 3G standard everyone is using and has been having a hard time getting support from unlocked devices.
Unlock
Do you think it will be able to be unlocked to AT&T in the future?

Im intrested in knowing this also. Had my hd2 running edge on us att,but that has got old want 3g or better
Telstra is the answer!
An Australian cellphone company by the nemae of Telstra carries the HD2. Telstra operates their 3G network in the 850mhz band which is the same band that AT&T primarily uses. I curently have been using an unlocked Telstra HTC HD2 (costed me $1000) on AT&T's network for several months now and could not be happier, I had to upgrade the firmware, the phone will not run in the U.S. with stock Telstra firmware.
As for the HTC HD 7, Cnet Australia is reporting it is headed for Telstra in early 2011 here is the link to the article: http://www.cnet.com.au/htc-hd7-339306576.htm . I would hold off buying it up untill more info is on xda about replacing the firmware to make it compatible in the U.S.
not sure about the logo thing, i havnt had or seen a phone in the uk with a carrier logo, im not saying ther isnt, i just havnt seen one.
Every year I have bought a new HTC device, but this time it looks like I don't buy one.
My HD2 can make more than the hd7, WP7 can be ported so I have no advice of buying the HD7
based on my experience with the HD2. O2 UK just branded the software, I suppose it was because this was the first HTC phone that they had without any hadrware rebranding. I imagine it was cheaper for O2 too do it this way.
I expect the HD7 will have an O2 HUB and probably colours. In Europe O2 will be provideing 16GB storeage as opposed to the 8 GB for the unbranded European version.
I expect the phone to be SIM locked like the HD2 but you can get an unlock coade from O2. We shall see
Here in germany all o2 devices are unlocked.
Amazon.de sells a HD7 without branding for 599 euros.
ugh. i just hate branding!
are all uk phones unlocked?
my hd2 was bought in europe unlocked.
id like to have an australia hd7, unbranded, and hope that it will work with att 3g.

If you buy a UK phone from a carrier (like O2, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, etc.) they will be locked as they are often subsidised by the carrier, although the carrier sometimes unlocks them for no charge if you ask.
In terms of logo use, O2 doesn't seem to brand any of their phones on the outer hardware, they just brand the software. But they seem to be the only one - Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile over here seem to brand a lot of their phones on the case.
To tell you the truth, that T-Mobile logo looks kinda flashy, makes it seem more elegant... it's pretty funny how you are not purchasing a device and going through such a struggle, just cause it has the company name plastered on the top right corner of the device. Be happy it's not the device name:
The T-Mobile7
lol >.>?
Well... if it's just the Logo you're in luck. T-Mobile, at least in europe, is normally putting there name (and magenta color theme) in every spot possible on device hardware and software.
If you buy it unlocked from europe it will only support the 900 Mhz and 2100 Mhz bands, both of which are not in use in the US. The asian version seems to be the same on that front.
U can look up that information on HTCs homepage in the device specifications.

NOOOOOO!!!
then am I sh*t out of luck then? Is there anyone in the world who uses T-mobile's 3G frequencies that WONT brand "T-mobile" on the HD7?
what are my HD7 options if I DO want data on my phone?

Unlocking a US T-Mobile HD7?

Hey All,
I'm very interested in getting an HTC HD7 but because I live in South Africa it's going to be a bit of a mission.
At the moment, the T-Mobile version from Amazon.com is the cheapest and due to the fact that I have some family in the States, I will be able to get it over here easily.
Now, I would like to know if the T-Mobile HD7's will be locked (I assume they will be) and if so, if it will be possible to unlock them? I would assume it will be possible but wouldn't want to buy the device only to find out that it doesn't work .
Second of all, is the T-Mobile hardware any different to the UK version? Does T-Mobile use some special frequencies for 3G that would make it incompatable with the South Africa Cellular Providers?
Thanks for any and all assistance,
Jonno
at&t does not have an HD7. In The USA, only T-Mobile has the HD7.
For specs on the device, you should take a look at the official page:
http://www.htc.com/www/product/hd7/specification.html
Haha, whoops - thanks for that, updated the post.
It appears that the HD7 is Quad Band and so should work for all countries (unless T-Mobile gets some other hardware version, which seems unlikely).
hey. Jonno. I pm'd u.Give me a call if you get a chance.Thanx
Nizaamh
Does this mean that I can use a UK hd7 on t-mobile 3g network? What about ATT 3g?

[Q] Which model did I just buy...???

Does anyone out there know the model (region) specific LTE configurations?
I just bought an HTC one (waiting for international delivery).. it was model 801n.. I could not find much data on it, but I did find some info at pdadb.net, which suggests that this model has the following LTE bands:
Secondary+Cellular+Phone
Dual-Cellular-Network;Operation: Selectable cellular module
Secondary-Cellular+Networks: LTE700 (B17), LTE850 (B5), LTE1700/2100 (B4), LTE1900 (B2)
Secondary;Cellular;Data-Links: LTE
Secondary+Cellular;Antenna: Internal antenna
Which means it will work on ATT, but I have been unable to validate this. So far HTC has come back with the official - it's a UK market model, so we cant' help you with that, but I have put in a follow up question. hopefully they can help.
I believe the most common model is the 801E, which appears to be the 800 1600 2600 model, which will not work...
It is driving me nuts, as I really took a risk and bought it without confirmation and paid a high price...
Anyone have more/better data?
Many thanks,
Nick

I found it on Ebay, saw they had the box in hand, so confirmed the model and part number, searched like heck to try and figure out what the model number meant. Only found the info listed on the PDADB site.
I also called HTC in Taiwan and contacted the UK and US HTC support sites by email to try and get confirmation of what LTE types is has, but just get official non-answers.. There has to be a document somewhere at HTC with all the model numbers that lists the differences... It is shocking that this cannot be found.
Anyway, seller said he bought it from an official HTC seller in the England (GB).
I am also wondering whether this could be the dev model?? I assume that was released in GB after the carrier launch.
Needless to say I am anxious to figure out what I have actually purchased... And a little pissed off that I cannot find a definitive answer anywhere.
Arrggg.. anyway, it should be here in a day or two, so I will find out soon enough...

That's frustrating. From the looks of things you should get LTE based on the specs you posted. I'll be following this thread. Thanks!

Model 801n is the uk model for sure, I preordered one from phones4u, a company here sells phones on all network, not sure what's the equivalent in us though. I assume you bought it from someone who did the same as me, since as far as I know, phones4u was the only place you can get the One in the past two weeks, and their phones come unlocked to any network.
But it is definitely not developer version cos it's not available in uk.
If you checked what frequency band the 801n supports and it matches at&t's frequency, then you should be able to use the phone without problem.
So just relax it will all be fine.

Well - it is here and .. no LTE..
I have to figure out whether it really has the secondary LTE radio with the US bands like PDAdb.net says it has.. And how to enable it, if that is the case.
Bitter sweet...

If it's the UK Model then in the US you'll be able to get everything apart from LTE. If you look at the reviews on YouTube, all the models they got were the European versions and they could only get 3G in the US.
Seems like it is mostly working, but the signal is weaker then my optimus g, note 2 and bb z10... And even eight a good signal the data indicator keeps toggling between H and 3G... Anyone know how and if I can optimize the phone for att?

[Q] HTC One Developers Edition ( 64 GB )

I am thinking to order HTC One Dev Edition from the HTC website. I am actually not interested in Dev model I just want 64GB variant so I gave a thot for this model. I never do any flashing on my phone, I just use as a normal user. I want to know few things about it :
1: Will there be a restriction on any 3rd party applications I install ?
2: Will it have any problem with the networks in Middle East ( Saudi Arabia )
3: What is difference between the dev edition and a normal one.
I would really appreciate if any one can suggest me. The phone will be available in local markets on 1st of may here priced at around 700$ for 32GB where as HTC is offering the 64GB Dev Edition for 649.99 $. Following is the link :

1) No restrictions at all unless you do some hacking and install some Saudi Arabia roms then and only then I could imagine thats where the restrictions come into play.
2) I dont know, youll have to see what frequencies your network provider supports
3) Nothing is different besides the fact one lets comes with no restrictions (ISNT sim locked, bootloader locked, OTA locked, etc ) and the other well is the exact opposite

I wouldn't see why not as many manufacturers like apple and Samsung have global warranties.
Btw, I would strongly advise you to get the www.squaretrade.com equivalent insurance in your country unless it's available there too

I very much like idea getting the Dev Edition which is unlocked and with 64GB onboard memory..
But it's mentioned there re LTE support - LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US)
Is there any chance to get this Dev Edition handheld working on 2600 Mhz LTE frequency (Dubai - Etisalat carrier) by flashing different radio/kernel or something like that?
Or it is completely hard-coded and fully defined by the hardware, and hence no chance to alter those frequencies by the software means?
Thank you.

[Q] How to check which verison of HTC One

I live in the UK and am about to buy an HTC One online, but I want to be sure when it arrives that the guy hasn't got some cheaper US handsets or something and is selling them here, hence the phone would be running on the wrong LTE bands. Is there a way to verify exactly which version of the handset I have once it arrives? I'm assuming, as I'm in the UK, I want the GSM one, m7ul....? But what about the other international versions? Thanks
