Does re-flahisng help? - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am thinking of deleting all my att apps and was wondering if they will reappear if I flash using the odin flash back to stock. The only reason I'm wondering that it wont is because I remember reading somewhere that the delete it permanent. Thanks in advance.

How would you go about unrooting a Captivate?
Thanks
Use the galaxy s one click root/unroot program. Search the xda forums for the link.

Would using ODIN to flash back to stock and using the Master Clear remove root?

ODIN back to stock will remove everything and put it back to the state that the phone was in when you took it out of the box. You will, however, still have some file system stuff hanging around from before. You'd have to clear your SD card of that information. But you should be unrooted and back to normal.
So if I were to use ODIN, could I still use Titanium Backup to get all my apps and games back? Because I want to go back to stock without root, but still have my apps and the info for them too.
nope - titanium backup needs root to work
Why the concern about root?
I just feel like going back to stock for a while, no real reason.

Unless you've really made some major changes, i.e. new ROM, Kernal, radio, you are at stock. You could just flash to stock, root, re-apply through TB and you still are at the base of the phone settings.
So TB will still have my stuff even if I do the flash? Or do I need to save the backup to my computer?

Save back up to your computer if you are going to master clear. If just odin flash not necessary
If you're still wondering about this, I unrooted using the root file found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364
Then, I unrooted using the unroot.zip file found in the Galaxy one click root/unroot rar file. In both cases, you copy the file to your phone's root directory and then rename it to update.zip and follow the procedures in the thread linked above. Linke for the galaxy one click root/unroot is here:

[Q] deleted bloatware accidently

hey guys i accidently deleted my bloatware instead of freezing it and or renaming it and now my phone randomly powers itself off. is there something i can do about this? would a system dump work (deodexed) and if so what exactly would that do? would it replace all the stuff i deleted so i can freeze it like i should have to begin with. i am new at this so any input would be a great help .
you can (carefully) restore your phone using the FXZ

No need since you can't remove bloat without root.
Reinstall all the missing apps and see if that helps.
no i am rooted then i deleted accidently my bloatware so there is no way for me to reinstall it. so if i use this new restore or recovery i should be good to go again right? then i can root again and walah!!!!
just follow the link streetr8cer13 posted and then root again if need to. you will lose all of your settings and apps, unless you back them up with T.B

Is there a way to get the notification bar file?

I need to know where I can get a copy of the notification bar file for my Captivate? It's running Gingerbread 2.3.6 with UCKF1. I accidentally deleted it. And I thought I could live without it but, it sucks not seeing battery, texts, emails, etc... . Would it be in a backup file somewhere? If so, what would the file name be and where? Sorry for being a bother. And as always, Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I was going to and then I thought maybe there was a way to just reinstall the file instead of a reflash. Just out of curiosity more than anything. I kinda was hoping there was a system file that was already backed up where I could copy or download and then install instead of reflashing the whole ROM. Cool.

Can I use titanium backup to get rid if all this at&t bloat.

What the title says. I just want to get rid of all the at&t apps with titanium backup. Is this ok? I'm on ST and don't need or want any of them. Thanks

yes - suggest you "freeze" them rather than delete
Yes you can
Freezing them is giod than instead of deleting or removing it

Freezing is the best option. Its hard to bring it back to stock if you delete them.
Thanks everyone. Super fast responses!

What if you have already deleted a bunch and froze others? Can you Factory Reset and go into stock recovery and wipe?
Would this put everything I deleted back or am I SOL?

Factory Data Reset does not restore deleted system apps. Until an odin/oneclick is released for MJ5, your best hope is getting the apks from a phone that is on MJ5. I'd hook you up but I'm happily rooted on MI9.
Is there a list somewhere of apps that are safe to freeze?????

Firmware for N900a?

I think I deleted something through root manager, but the just of it, is I need to re-install the firmware. I tried to go through Kies but it can detect my device for some reason. I think I deleted the Kies through root manager as well so it might be the issue.
Does anyone have the .tar file for this so I could flash via Odin? Just want to go back to new outta the box. Oh, I also tried factory reset through settings and also in recovery. Doesn't restore the files I'm missing.
Maybe I'm making this harder than it is and just need a few missing files I deleted by mistake. The only issues Im having is everytime I restart my phone I have to reset my live wallpaper and reset Swiftkey as my default keyboard. Maybe there is a fix for that and then I wont have to worry about the firmware?
There is no tar as of yet. And if you did the OTA to MJ5 you cant use the one click through De la Vega

Right now it is impossible to flash firmware of any kind to a 900A. The bootloader is locked and until somebody figures out a way to unlock it, it is impossible to flash any ROM/Firmware to this device.
I am rooted on the Root De La Vega so I must be on the correct firmware.

If you can open your build.prop in /system it will tell you the firmware version at the top.

It appears that you can just flash the MI9 firmware since you aren't running MJ5. Can someone verify this? That would save you from having to go through all of the apks.
All you would need to do is flash the Oneclick from this thread.
