I got the same setup as you, just flash cf root kernel v 1.2 then use the oclf. I think its the 2e recovery that the cf kernel will install is what's needed to make oclf work. Its dead easy just flash through odin takes about 10 secs. Just search for "[30.10.10][CF-Root v1.2] JPH JPK JP6 JPM JPA JPO - superuser+busybox+2e, CWM compat" its the forum somewhere....
so with another kernel and recovery you are ok but is ok that i have 803.PIT?

if you flashed the kernel then it all should be good to install the oclf. Just checking you are using the the oclf from the market? cause ive had trouble in the past with some lagfixes that are incorporated into some kernels not sure why but anyways see how you go..
I've been using this exact method for a few days, JPA flashing the root kernal then using OCLF from the Market. Works a treat.
Yes i use the oclf from market but it doesnt work

Does anyone know if the dev of this app is working on an update to make it compatible with 2.2?
I have found this the easiest way to root and lag fix my phone without going through odin and would prefer to use the app rather than any other method.
it works on 2.2 . install the EXT2 tools first then restart the app and select root 2.2
worked on my SGS using tayatumas 2.2 build ( typo?)

It doesnt gove me the option to do that mate.
All buttons are red except for "Check available memory"

Have you rooted your phone? What version of the 2.2 firmware are you running? OCLF worked for me on ZUJP2 and XXJPM builds of froyo.
Im in the same boat, I can't seem to root ethier, anyone know of an easy root method without using odin?

Oclf can only root 2.2 if the kernel has recovery 2. With you have to use an custom kernel/Rom.

No I'm not rooted yet. I was hoping to use oclf as its easier to unroot if needed. I'm running official jpm 2.2

No its in kernel 2 or dome custom kernel.
You need to flash a kernel with recovery 2 in it.

Then this:

Or after rooting, you could also just grab it from the market by searching for "ryanza".
Odin is really easy to use if you just follow the instructions.
I am using the newest cog Tom and would like to be able to use a kernel that enables oc/UV and the different lagfix options. Can anyone tell me how I flash just the kernel over the cog Tom?

i wasnt aware that unhelpful had created a 2.2 kernel?
so what you want to do is flash a 2.1 kernel into a 2.2 rom? are you sure you have read the dev forums?
If there it is a 2.2 kernel, just flash the stock 2.1 kernel with odin and flash the one you want over (sorry vague) but just search it
*edit*
Its on the cognition wiki

i know how to flash a kernel, but the OP stated they were on the latest COG which is 2.2. unhelpful's kernel is a 2.1 kernel. flashing a 2.1 kernel on a 2.2 rom will end in boot loops....it wont be pretty.
the only kernel that i know of at this time for us to use OC/UV on 2.2 is setiron's, and its a modified i9000 kernel.
rather than trying to get someone else that has already done the legwork on learning ODIN to respond, I think the OP needs to read...a lot
I have been reading alot and can't seem to find a direct description on how to do this.

probably because you havent provided enough information....
i will repeat.
if you try to install unhelpful 2.1 kernel on a 2.2 rom, it WILL NOT work.
so, are you trying to do this on a 2.1 rom or a 2.2 rom?
there are plenty of instructions out there, so you havent read enough.....there are really only 2 ways to flash a kernel. through Clockworkmod or through ODIN.....pick your poison.
If you flash cog 2.1.7 you will have unhelpfuls kernel version 1.7 but i prefer version 1.4.1 despite the lack of voodoo lag fix. It just worked better on my phone. Great battery life.
overclocking may not be enabled at first so read unhelpfuls first post first if you dont get it ask more questions.
If you flash a cog 2.2bx 2.3bx or 2.4.x rom then you are looking for setirons kernel. It has more advanced lagfix options but i get battery drain so the undervolt thing is useless. There is a way to fix it but its too much to explain.
All in all overclocking is mostly for bragging rights. On ecliar it was good using unhelpfuls kernel.
Setirons kernel may be very advanced but there are tradeoffs it being an i9000 port.

Hi.
I'm now running froyo JPO. But i can't complete my sgs using z4root. Can anyone suggest a compatible root and lag fix?
Thanks in advanced.

Easy root and also 2e recovery :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
For lagfix try Voodoo or OCLF.
My sgs doesn't have 3 combo buttons work. So which lag fix you recommend? I've tried OCLF after z4root but it wasn't success.

Search for the fix to get your 3-button combo working BEFORE doing anything to your phone.
It's under of the stickied posts in this forum or under a General.
Period.
Hi all,
I am wondering if someone will be able to clarify for me.
I have got the Darky 10.2.2 final and I want to install the Latest JVS from SamFirmware.
Will this okay or will this be dangerous? I just want to put it back to Stock and then root it using chainFire CF "Our Legend".
I am planning to just flash on top of the current Darky on the Phone.
Hope this make sense.
I am using ODIN and I have got JIG for download mode.
Thanks guys.
I went from Darky 10.2 to JVS (and then semaphore kernel) no problems..
I had no need to use a jig.

Thanks for the reply.
I am not too familiar with I9000.
Do i need to install the ext4 from CF afterwards? For the lag fix?
Reason i ask is because i noticed that CF has the addon file available for download.
Cheers
It's always a good idea to revert to rfs before flashing a new firmware (in case the kernel doesn't support ext4; i don't think stock jvs does).
Otherwise shouldn't be a problem
Flashed stock rom with pit included. Now using latest. Seems to be ojay. Dont think i will need lag fix
Cheers

Hi how can i root my galaxy s running 2.3.3 ive tried z4root and gingerbreak and they didnt work plz help
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Those only work for Froyo. You need Chainfire's AKA CF-Root for Gingerbread and beyond...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Flash through odin one of the cf-root kernel and than flash galaxian for CWM
Or you can just use SuperOneClick 1.9.5 or higer (latest is 2.3.2 if I remember right). It roots every version of Android, from Eclair to Gingerbread.
