Seems every calendar I find is quite limited.
One thing in particular I want to be able to do is when I add an event, I on occasion want to be able to add it to multiple calendars.
Of course other things such as search the calendar; copy an entry; have longer reminder times to choose if I want.
Any suggestions on an app?
The calendar in launcher pro is very nice

I have that, and it is not a calendar replacement, just a widget to display from current calendar. Agree, it is nice.
Since posting a bit ago, I have found that I can use the Participants box to 'invite' my wife, and then she gets an email which she has to accept the invitation. That at least will accomplish that.
Regarding search, i have found a couple widgets that I could consider.
Just have to piece it together I guess.

In Gmail I can build several lists of tasks, and name these as I want to.
I can easily add tasks to each list, and simply click them to mark them as "completed".
The GREAT thing is, that the exact same lists are available directly on my Hero, AND with the exact same features as in the web-version
But, unfortunately, there is no option in Gmail, to share any of these task-lists with somebody else.
If that was possible, the task-lists in Gmail would become a fabulous tool. Just imagine that you could share and "realtime-sync" a shoppinglist with your wife. And other tasklists with collegues etc.?
2 Android units could go shopping in separate warehouses, and NOT come home with "2 of a kind".
Ideas anyone? Or is there an Android developer out there, who can see the potential in this idea?
How do you access your Gmail Tasks on your hero? What app are you using?
I connect through Gmail in my browser:
http://mail.google.com/tasks/android
It keeps logged in to my regular Google account, and gives me direct acces the various lists, I made here.
couldn't make soemone a app ? that also can be used as a widget it would be very nice. i looked for a long time but couldn't find it there where apps that said it would sync with gmail but it was synced with calander and not tasks.

Well, in my case, the sync between tasks work perfectly.
What I need is a way to share a task-list in the same way as I can share a calendar...
Thanks for the tip, but I have to agree with commodoor. The sync works ok as long as you are connected to the internet, once you disconnect you are left in the cold. An app that will allow you to work on your tasks off-line and sync only whenever you want would be useful. Sharing will be also a plus!
Right now i'm using google calendar also for my tasks, only that i can sync it with my phone and viceversa
http://www.rememberthemilk.com
It's an app in the market, can sync with gmail and there is a widget available, although it is rather large.

Yhea but it is only for pro users only, and 25 dollar per year is to much for syncing my tasks only.
if it was 3 dollar i would buy it but noy 25 per year

I tried that. It's no good!
Much too complicated to set-up properly, and sharing a list is a PITA!

we are looking for something to sync with google tasks. astrid is nice and there is an option to sync with remember the milk but i don't want to use remeberthemilk but with google tasks.
if astrid synced with google task it would be a great app. and astrid doesn't have a widget.

Try gTask. Plain simple, works like a charm.

Yeah - that looks nice.
But that is not, what I'm looking for. The native Google Tasks already does this.
The problem is, that Google Tasks can't be shared, like the calendar does.
yes you can share task lists

Does anyone know of an app that will allow multiple widget instances or a widget view that isnt every calendar I sync with. I am looking for something that will allow me to view my personal calendar on one screen and other calendars I subscribe to in another. Month view is perferred if possible. Thanks in advance for any info.
Android Agenda Widget might be worth looking into. I don't have multiple calendars so I can't test it out but under the settings there is an option that says"Widget calendars independence - Have separate calendars for each widget"
Not sure if month view is possible.
Definitely going to second Android Agenda Widget. Takes a bit of time to setup, but you can customize it quite a bit and get it to look just the way you want. I currently have three of the widgets setup because I use several calendars and it works great. I'm also not sure about the monthly view, I know you can set how far ahead it "looks" and do a few other things to that extent, though I'm not sure if that's exactly what you're looking for. Either way, definitely give it a shot, it's a great app!
Pure Calendar also allows you to select which calendars it displays
I use Android Agenda Widget, but I can't get any of my calendars besides (my email) and U.S. Holidays to show up. When I go to Google Calendar (the site, not the app), I have a Birthdays/Anniversaries calendar, in addition to a few sports calendar. How do I get those to show up as well?
Thx 4 all the input but the list view of all events is not quite what I was looking 4... visual week or month... something like what u might find n a paper planner is closer 2 the overall goal... did try it and I must say Android Agenda Widget was the best of its kind I saw... and 2 linkraceist

Anyone using an app for their contacts that's better than the stock Captivate app?
My problem with the app is likely due to how I use it, but it's driving me crazy. I have 3 accounts syncing their contacts to it. 90% of each account is a dupe of the other accounts, but I need to have all 3 for that 10%. If I don't, then I have to pick one and constantly take the time to manually make sure it's up to date. Instead I think the spool should just work.
My problems are so far it only lets you combine 4 contacts. I *could* go through all 3 accounts and clean them up, but again, I think the app should be more flexible and let me combine as many as I want. Also, it doesn't let me choose a group of contacts within gmail. WHY does it think I need the contact info of EVERY person I've ever communicated with?! Let me just limit which groups within the account I want synced, especially to limit it to "my contacts" within gmail.
Anyone with similar frustrations find something better?
Thanks!

the one included in the Cognition ROM is pretty awesome. i just noticed it today (i don't use that app too often). it looks the same but you can swipe left to text a contact or swipe right to call. i found this very slick!

I would try dialer one. It's free and an amazing app. I'm not sure it will do what you want but there are tons of options. My favorite is the swiping to go to contacts, favorites, and call log. I started using it because I wanted my favorites to come up first thing without a dial pad when I hit the phone. Hope it helps.
all the contact apps are half done as is e mail
How can you take Android seriously without a decent contacts manger or e mail client?
I have tried them all the contact apps and they are all difficult if not impossible to use. Some do not enable all the fields you need and on others the search is incorrect. None of them mesh with or incorporate the phone & text function well. Right now I'm working with the 2.2 contacts manager, 2.2 messaging and Touchdown. It takes all three to marginally achieve what I need. This is an opportunity for someone.
I just installed the CyanogenMod e mail to try and find a decent e mail client. It is not much better then the 2.2 e mail (it does include your message when you reply), Touchdown or any of the others. Touchdown would be good if it would handle multiple accounts of each and every variety. There is another opportunity here.

If you are syncing 3 contact sources and there are some dupes, then those are linked - you can see all 3 individually, but picking the contact source you want to view, or you can unlink those 10%.
As for groups, 2.2 appears to fix this, but for now, one solution is to export all your contacts to your SD card then import them all to your "phone". The phone address book allows you to create and manage groups.
Maybe the stock Android contact manager is better. I am holding out for 2.2 as what i have seen, looks like they fixed most issues involving groups and google groups.
I'm not satisfied with the calendar in Galaxy S (is it Samsung's own or Android stock?). Often I need to login into Google Calendar on the web to be able to customize my appointments as I want.
This I miss:
1. Be able to choose what calendar which is the default one. Now "My calendar" is the default, I want one of my two Google calendars to be default.
2. I want to be able to specify "repeat rules" (not sure what the english term is) better. It's not possible to make an appointment appear every second monday for instance. But it's possible to do through Google calendar on the web.
3. Specify notification tone.
And I want to keep everything that does work, like multiple calendars and syncing to my Google account etc.
Hi. I use jorte, free in the market.
Give it a try
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Jorte is the best, which is not to say it's great.
It also has the best widgets.
Others don't come anywhere close as calendars, although they might have nicer looking skins.
Jorte is very good. But for the widgets i like more agenda widgets. Looks much nicer and has better options.
Gemini Calendar is a nice and free (available in the market) app and has useful widgets, although I've not tried any others bar the original SGS app
Non of them are really good. They do have the functions I'm missing in the original calendar app, but the GUIs are just horrible.
Is it possible to switch the Samsung Calendar to original Android calendar? Or maybe HTC Calendar?

you can switch to stock calendar here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735035
note: you will have a big "plus" sign on the top of your screen which i find pretty annoying. i just switched to jorte based on opinions here but honestly i use agenda widget most of the time. it's great and scrollable with launcherpro and syncs to RTM tasks as well. love it.

Hi Folks,
I've come from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to a new shiny HTC One which was delivered a couple of hours ago. Just getting set up and was wondering whats your preference for email setup. With my company using Google Apps i've always just gone ahead and used Gmail but was wondering if the 'Mail' app was any better?
Regards
Sam
They are both really good, I guess if you have multiple email accounts the mail app is better than the dedicated gmail one because you could easily switch between accounts
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I use the Mail app because I have 4 email accounts so easier to manage, I would still use this app if I only had one gmail account tbh, its much cleaner looking.
Gmail definitely. Don't like the native app.
Probably no help but I have been using both the HTC native mail app as well as the Gmail app. Personally I like the look and feel of the native app but I think I have been just to used to running my email accounts on separate apps, hasn't hurt me yet.

Hi All....i had a similar question. I am having a difficult time with the native email app that it wont scale my e-mails to fit the screen. Can someone please help me with this. The gmail app does it automaticaly....but i cant get the HTC one native app to do the same.
