[Q] custom system FONTS? - Desire HD Themes and Apps

is there any way to adb push custom fonts within the \system\fonts\ folder?
maybe a workaround using titanium backup - busybox?
just wondering whether this is already possible....

How to uninstall MOD's?

Can anyone tell me how to uninstall mod's?
For instance, I tried the trackballwake mod and found you still had to use the unlock slider. I was hoping you wouldn't. So I was hoping to just uninstall that zip package.
Possible?
Thanks guys...
a)restore your nandroid backup (you did make one right)
b)If you manually deployed the new files (adb/root explorer etc), restore the backup versions. (hope you have a backup)
c) If you don't have a backup, find the ROM you installed last and extract the files that the update.zip included (overwrote), then copy them to your phone. (adb/root explorer etc)
I was hoping to do option c but actually remove the mod entirely. But I'm not all too familiar with all the adb commands. I tooled around a little bit but figured I'd come on here and ask.
If you have cyanogen rom still on the sd card still just reflash it.The settings and apps should stay as they where and the trackball hack you install should be removed. This is what I did.

Removing System apps ?

Hey i just rooted my Optimus 2x and removed two system apps with Titanium Backup Pro..
before that i made a backup of the apps with Titanium backup, but there is just one problem, it only made a backup of DATA not the APP....
so now i have removed the CAR HOME APP and F-Secure APP and don't have backup...
my question is....
Do I have a problem, if i need to make a hard reset with VOL + HOME, POWER. when im missing those system APPs ??
No problem
@dk_iceman
What did you do to remove f-secure? Could you please provide a very short summary of what you did? I'm curious if it's really enough to remove the apk? And what do you mean by data? After a restart of the phone, did the app really disappear?
thanks!

you can just use ADB to push the apk's back on your system if you want.
Odd. For some reason i cant mount system as rw with adb "remount failed: Operation not permitted"
But you can just put the apk's on your sd card in stead and then copy them to system/app using root explorer
Duplication

Open the SuperUser app and "forget" the entry "unknown" then:
Code:
adb shell
$ su
#
And you'll get prompted on the phone screen to allow root access.

Yeah... my bad... just realised that 2 mins ago... was about to post.
So if you take a backup with titanium backup, it will not backup the app. And if you delete apps, with titanium backup are they removed completely from the ROM/ROOT, and a factory reset will not bring them back?
Man just deleted F-secure, SNS, App advisor and the live wallpapers, with titanium backup, and these will not come back if I make hard reset, does anyone have the SNS 1.0 and the Christmas/Firework live wallpapers?

Download my rom dump, extract files and just copy files back with root explorer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987989
You should user soft "SystemApp Remover" to remove app you want. This is very cool app . There are many bloatware you can remove.
Another way to disable apps is to use Titanium backups "freeze" or the "disable" with adb. Both prevents the app from running BUT leaves it intact and give you a possibility to restore all apps with a hard reset.
Here is a guide from Paul at Modaco:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8633061&postcount=1
Basically its use adb to run a PM command:
pm disable com.Apps.apps (change the file name to the apk you want to disable.
Note: titanium "freeze" do same thing
I've made backups with Titanium Backup and synced them with my dropbox account. But when i look at what he saved i can see the apk files. So i'm not really sure but it looks to me like he also saved the app itself and not only the data.
update:, hmmmm i just looked at the content of my backup dir in dropbox and it seems like he didnt send the system apps. So if you want to restore them you have to use the system dump. Or back them up yourself.

Yes find it very useful, better UI than Titanium.

Hello everyone!
I'm trying to tweak this Stock rom because i don't wanna install mostly broken custom roms where i can't use apps i want (installed from market).
I was just wondering that which system apps can be uninstall from LG Optimus 2X for not being worried about any errors or so?
I have uninstalled now sns, wallpapers, most of widgets i don't need but can i remove remotecall app? Do i need it for makeing calls, sending sms or connecting to mobile network, wifi or Bluetooth?
Or is google quick search necessary for some apps?
and what about Smartshare, talk, voicesearch or voicerecorder?
Please answer to this if you have time and knowledge of these apps!
Thank you in advance!
Just out of curiosity, why dont you guys just install a clean Vanila ROM?
Wouldn't that be easier as it will not contain any of LG's software/modifications etc?
Not trying to be a smart alec here, just wondering that's all.
I got my 2X today and I want to install a clean Vanila ROM and have posted a thread asking for help as to how to go about doing it.
I'm currently using Launcher Pro which works a treat and the ROM itself seems very fast but I just hate the tweaks to the Messaging apps and also all the bloatware.
Or do you guys just find LG's software useful?
Cheers

[Q] what's the benefits of /system r/w ?

I installed the stock rom from scrosler with the /system r/w tweak and was wondering what all can I do now that I was not able to before ?
Can I uninstall the AT&T bloat with tb now ? And what other things did this enable ?
Thanks
You still need root to change stuff under /system partition ...
1. Kernel with write allowed on /system
2. Root
You need the above combo to modify system files for H1 WHILE the phone is switched on... using custom recovery of course its not a requirement

Generally speaking, /system is where stock apps (and the rest of the OS) are located. So you can delete stock apps (in /system/app) until your little heart is content. But, as the previous poster said, you still need a superuser program and su installed. You'll need to install one via CWM.
The r/w tweak probably did nothing more other than allow writing to /system partition. I could be wrong though.

Lost Camera.

Hi guys,
Small problem here...
I wanted to be able to "Greenify" the stock camera app so I tried to convert it to user app with Rom Toolbox. Thing is now I can't find the camera app anywhere, even the APK has disappered... I downloaded the APK from the "Apps & Themes" section of this forum but it's not working!
First, I tried installing the APK like a regular app, didn't work. Then I tried mounting the /system folder with R/W rights and copying the .apk and .odex file in the /system/app folder, set permissions of both files to rw-r-r and reboot, no luck either...
I'm not sure what else to do... Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance!
(System version 91.2.29001.XT890.Retail.en.GB, Stock, Rooted with TwerkMyMoto [locked bootloader])
Search the app on System/data/app if is there copy again to system/apps
Dont havw a copy from titanium backup?
Also the greenify app has a module of xposed that let hibernate system apps with xposed framework
Enviado desde mi XT890 mediante Tapatalk
/system/data/app = Does not exist...
/data/app = No camera apk there.
I did not backup with TiBU (or any other app) because I did not want to delete the stock camera app, just wanted to convert it to user app... I just lost it in the process! I guess I should have been more careful and backup the apk before trying anything!
I do have copies of MotCamera.apk and MotCamera.odex as it's been extracted by other users and posted on this forum a few times, I just can't figure how to make them work again!
I know about the xposed framework for Greenify but I thought it would be easier to convert the system app to user app than installing the xposed framework... I guess I was wrong!
I noticed something new today, there is a file named "com.motorola.camera.apk" in the /system/app that has the same date as the date I've put back the copies of MotCamera.apk and MotCamera.odex files in that folder... I didn't put that there, I think it was created by the new apk somehow! Does that changes anything ?
I know the stock camera app is far from "vital" to the system but I would really appreciate a little help to get it back!
Thanks!

[Q] Can't add apps to system on a rooted device (s-on)

I just rooted my htc one (att version) and i'm using superSU. I want to use BetterBatteryStats, which required to add itself as system app. I tried its own method, Titanium Backup, LuckyPacher and even move the apk myself by Root expolorer, but none of them works- It seems work, but after rebooting the apk I copied to /system/apps (or /system/priv-apps) disappeared.
So my question is, is this operation required "S-off"? I knew I can't delete bloat apps due to this, but INCREASE files into system folders is also prohibited? If so, how could SuperSU be installed into /system/apps in the first place?
I knew this question may sound stupid, please forgive my very basic knowledge about android and thanks!

You need to change your kernel, the stock kernel has write protection on it, try elementalx and no you don't need s-off
