Addiction

Damn you XDA. I find myself here several times a day, looking for goodies and news about my favourite phone (LG Revolution) the best freakin phone ever. I have you on my phone now, with a paid app. I just can't get away from you. I may have to take up drinking to pull myself away.
I like this site, because everyone seems knowledgeable. Everyone is nice, when you have an issue, they walk you through it, rather than talk down to you.
Thanks to you all who run this sweet operation. I click "Thanks" every chance I get. Thank you moders, without you our products would just flat out suck. I like the fact, because of groups like ours here, phone makers are more open to letting us open up their devices, and take out what we hate, and put in what we love.

i remember when i didnt have ord.... my girlfriends phone was stock, my phone was stock, i didnt do hardware modifications, ah the memories.

I concur entirely with every post in the thread. There are constantly two or three different XDA tabs open on my browser, so I can switch between and find even more awesome things to do with my phone.
I look forward to being full on ORD soon!

Because of you folks, I went from buying my first Android phone not knowing a thing, to rooting my phone, flashing roms, even to editing my gps.conf manually to tweak a patch to suit my particular region.
The senior members are helpful, and the guides and information are top notch.

Had my old Kaiser right up to about a month ago when I split up with my gf and left it at her place. It was the original hacked WinMo/Android beast phone!! Went from that to the AT&T Tilt2 (Rhodium), to the HD2. It's too bad the HD2 is the last phone of that era. One of these days my Leo's gonna finally kick the bucket and I'll have to get a for real Android-native phone. That'll be a sad day.

how to create a forum just like this?

hi guys, I really love XDA, im on it all the time, But i wanted to make my own forum just like this, except its focused on just 1 phone, Is there any possible way to create a forum the same as this and excellent as this one?
If so, Can you give me a step-by-step walkthrough? Cheers (P.S, like i said, exactly (nearly) like this, so i can recruit mods,etc, mysql, php etc, anything, as long as its like this forum/website)

well there are lots of free websites that allows you to create forums which you can manage as you like or create one on your own with phpbb, vb etc with your domain. If its a forum, you can assign mods, database or just anything else.

Well then you have to find oue, and make it do what you want. Most forums are based on phpBB or vBulletin. I think XDA is vBulletin.

Simple. I've made a forum before.
Buy vBulletin or another forum software. Get yourself some hosting, according to the specs. Install the forum on the server using the manual. Then just start tweaking the settings and get it noticed.

It's the best free forum hoster, which offers a lot of possibilities. You need to try !

May be worth considering whether or not the forum you go with is supported by Tapatalk. There's a list of forums they support on their site...

I beleive the recipe is 2 parts vBulletin, 2 parts contributing users and 8 parts trolls....
Mix well and leave to simmer for 9 years....

Of course it did. Forums needs users and by only focusing on ONE device, the forum becomes a ghost town when a new version gets released. Its not a sustainable model at all.

this has absolutely no uniqueness to Raver at all but one thing I would say is that there has never been a bounty thread which just told it like it is and said "I will make a modded stock rom of gb and do the same when stock ICS is out".
Most bounties are about winking at suggestions of making ICS builds or this or that pie in the sky rom. I know there is supposed to be salesmanship in those threads but it would be refreshing to just have it be straightforward on the other hand I doubt such a thread would be a successful bounty

If you read his posts, he said that he's working out the bugs on the installer and ROM. If you think he's too slow, offload some work from him. Maybe go over and give him meals, clean for him, do his other ***** work and then he will have more time for you.

just a note im not a promise dev im a delivery dev sometimes it might be slow coming out but i do what i say i will do

Holy hell people must want instant results...how about instead of donating next time take that money and take some development courses at your local community college then you can create whatever the hell you want when you want...if not then quit your pissing and moaning and wait like everyone else...Gotta love those people who think there special and shouldn't have to wait around.

This is definitely true. Raver always delivers what he promises. I've used most of his Roms on the SGS4G and they were all incredible. I just got my SGSII last Friday and I can't wait to try Black Edition when its complete. Raver I'm really glad to see you on this phone also. You'll definitely be getting more donations from me.

you see the hate threads starting. If somebody wanted to know where you were why didnt they go to you thread for your rom and see. But NO! they come over here cause they got nothing else to do but try to get a hate mob together.

One more exam and then im done, ughh, hate school. My last exam is maths. Today i had chemistry and business, what a tough day. Decided to take the rest of the day off to go on xda

I am doing engineering
First year
In 1st semester i failed in 6 subjects (all subjects)
Now i am depressed and my 2nd semester has started so i am depressed....
Any help with study tactics

well here is my advice...
When u go to lectures make notes, try to record lectures and then go straight to library, and read on that topic as much as you can, then when exams are approaching try solving past papers (if ure university provides) and go to professors office, u'll surely get some hints and tips. Before going to exam take a bath and chill and sleep well. :good:

When solving i prefer to use headset with awesome songs.
And enjoy doing maths. Its fun when you know how to do it

love the subject. try to work it more. and listening to music while working maths won't work with everyone like me. i like maths because i don't need to by-heart stuffs. just understanding is required.

*Prepare for lectures before getting to class. Use your textbook and skim through and try to get a basic understanding of the sections being covered in lecture before you go to lecture.
*Take organized notes during lecture
*Don't try to study for exams the day before the exam. Give yourself 4 or 5 days to review material in smaller portions than cramming everything in 1 day.

Practise, maths is one of those subjects.
What my favourite maths teacher has always told me is not to overdo the amount of practise. Once you can do something, you can do it - its more important that you're able to actually understand how something works rather than spending 5 hours a day just doing questions. Once you can get it right a few times, move on and focus on something else.
Also, 10 minute breaks every hour helps.

If you failed all 6 subjects then that might mean that you're doing the wrong thing. I'd suggest having a strong think about it and try and find something that you enjoy, rather than something you try really hard at and then fail.
This is the rest of your life you're influencing now. Do you want to spend the rest of your life doing something you're not good at?

Its like i lost my mind from studies. I want to study. And now i am having my second semester.
And the worst thing is i got dumped from my girl after a three year relationship and now shea with someone else useless.
So i am just totally depressed and badly screwed

Don't think about it bro. Better times will come, everyone has their ups and downs. You are not alone. Though, now, you need to concentrate on your studies and your future. Nothing else will benefit you. Stay positive bro, keep your mind off your ex, she is missing out and you deserve better. Stay strong!! :thumbup:

The thing is, that's something she needs to learn. I know that you want to make sure she doesn't do anything stupid but she has to find her own moral compass.
At the same time its important that you get back on track with your uni studies and as Archer said, maybe doing something you enjoy. Otherwise, in all truth, you'd be wasting time.
