Tayutama Edition for 2.1 versus 2.2 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've currently got the Tayutama Edition for Android 2.1 installed (JM8). This is the Lite version which includes Voodoo. I'm now looking to roll up to Android 2.2 and am looking at Tayutama Edition for Android 2.2. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808763) as I really do like the look and feel of this ROM.
1. Apart from the obvious differences between Android 2.1 and 2.2, are there any differences between the two Tayutama Edition ROMs?
2. Does the Tayutama Edition for Android 2.2. include the Voodoo lag fix or does this need to be applied on top?
3. Do I need to disable the Voodoo lag fix before I update to the latest Tayutama Edition for Android 2.2 even though I will be using the Voodoo lag fix on that as well?
4. I currently use Titanium Backup to backup my applications. I read there were issues with restoring this on Android 2.2, are those issues still present?
TIA

Questions about FroYo

Hello,
I am new to Android, and some help would be appreciated with this question:
Is there CM ROM or SuperBad ROM for Froyo? If there is not, is there any ROM for FroYo that has everything working?
no CM Froyo yet... here this is working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702191
Thanks johnnie93,
To root FroYo, I should first update my N1 to froyo and then root using the normal ways, right? (I mean that if I root it while it has default version 2.1 on it, will it stay rooted after update?)
And are there any themes availaible for FroYo?
By the way, one question about the touchscreen: Does the Desire have better touchscreen than the n1?
you need
1.custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829
2.the new radio http://rapidshare.com/files/394280723/Step_One_Froyo_Radio_Update.zip
3.then just update to froyo its already rooted by Paul. But dont update to froyo with the stock radio.

No they are the same.
Thanks alot,
So I install custom recovery and the new radio, then I install the MoDaCo rom for FroYo?
And one questions about the "new radio": Does this bring Radio to N1? (I don't mean Internet Radio, I mean normal Radio like every other phone)
And are there any themes for FroYo?
Radio doesn't mean FM radio i think its 3G and signal fixes and yes you install the custom recovery and then the new radio then FroYo from Paul
So once again to verify, the order is: Update to FroYo, install custom recovery, install new radio, then install the MoDaCo FroYo ROM?
And you didn't say that are there any themes for FroYo?
NO first custom recovery then radio then froyo.......
Ok one more question:
A ROM is not an update, right? I have to download and install FroYo from google and then install the ROM?
and u didn't awnser my theme question...
No the ROM is the update.... and for themes just check http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=560
All themes in there work with the ROM you told me to install and froyo?
not all themes just search and for compatible themes with froyo and the ROM your downloading is the Froyo update + Root +

This theme works with Froyo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691040
And this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700703
I didn't understand one thing:
By paul's froyo you mean:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702191
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686631 ?
The first one.
Do I need the second one too?
The first one ONLY!
Thank you alot.
no problem
One more question (I'm sorry I ask too many questions, I'm totally new to Android): If I upgrade to FroYo and I regret it, Can I downgrade back to 2.1?

[Q] cognition 2.2 B6 vs 2.1 oclf

I am running cognition 2.2 B6 but my phone was much snappier running 2.1 with oclf. Is there something I can do to speed up 2.2 or should I revert back to 2.1 oclf?

The 2.2 Beta6 was pretty snappy for me, but I ran the OCLF and got a bit more snap. Maybe you could try that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811902
^there is this if you are brave. there is a big potential for problems because the recovery mode is broken with this one.
there is also the oclf, it works in froyo.

[Q] Can I use Froyo kernel on Ginger ROM?

Simple questions:
If I have installed a cooked Gingerbread ROM (2.3.2 JV1 or 2.3.3 JVK evolution), can I replace the kernel with a Froyo version kernel (2.2.1 as JS8 or others)? What happens?
Doesn't work or doesn't boot? Will I have stability problems?
Does it downgrade version of Android on my device? So I will have a Froyo device?
This question come to me cause on other Devices (HTC Desire, Hero, Magic) I had before Galaxy haven't distinct versions: Froyo o Gingerbread ROMs are one package. In Galaxy, instead, I can change Kernels with ODIN, replacing the one that comes with Cooked ROM package... And I read sometimes Ginger Kernel based on 2.2.1... ??? what the hell?
Ciao
You will get bootloops
Btw, this is in no way development related and should be posted in general. Just for your next question...
Should be on Q&A

[Q] A few quick questions before going 2.3.3

Hey guys, I'm currently on Darky's 9.3 (Froyo) and I'd like to try some Gingerbread . I was hoping I could clear a few things up first.
Is THIS the stock 2.3.3 rom? Can someone help me understand the XXJVA/B/K, or are they just newer revisions (B being the newest)? Being on Froyo, I should flash XWJVB NEE or XEE - correct? Will I have to remove any current lagfixes (I dont believe I applied it...but how can I check?)
Will there be incompatiblities for things like LauncherPro? Other apps?
I've read about a few of third party ROM's running 2.3.3 who are discussing camera app not working?
How do I save my Asphalt 5 savegame data? I've worked very hard to get to where I am, I'd like to be able to continue this progress
Lastly - which is your suggestion for 2.3.3? Stock, Simply Honey, Darky's 10.0 RC, MIUI, etc? OR, should I wait a little for it to mature...
Thanks for reading

+1 same questions
Gingerbread/2.3.3 not released yet .
Newer versions.
All flash lagfix must be removed .
Will there be incompatiblities for things like LauncherPro? Other apps?
Might be it depends upon the app most are 2.3.3 compatible .
I've read about a few of third party ROM's running 2.3.3 who are discussing camera app not working?
yes in custom roms . 2.3.3 is to all intents and purposes still a beta .
Any rom bar darkys but i would wait for the devs to get full working themes etc .
jje
Darky has a very nice GB-ROM (v10RC5) and Hamsterbread is also a good ROM. So just try some different ROMs and take your favorite. I've also tried Simply Honey but I didn't like the design...
Juwe's 4.1, based on JVB, is also a verry good gingerbread custom rom.
