I noticed this was nowhere to be found.
There are also many themes that have different sliders.
Could someone instruct me in how to theme vanilla/aosp lock screen sliders?
thanks in advance!
+1 to this.
If its like my previous phone lockscreen icons are inside framework.apk . find them copy the names and replace them ...
I am not sure what guide you are looking for ,
Answer is simple :
Use metamorph .
if you dont know how to use it then that is what you need to learn . pretty easy

First off, I know there was a thread on this that was located somewhere in the HTC Dream/G1 section, but I can't seem to find that thread ever since the big change xda went through...
Anyways, I've been trying to learn how to theme, I'm a beginner, and I wanna do this for education purposes. Can someone point me in the right direction to began with? (like a guide or what-not)
Currently I have the SDK starter kit from Google/developer.android.com. Are there any other guides, or anyone here willing to teach?
im a beginner too but to make a theme is not so difficult.. you must have only patience and a good know of photoshop (or the gimp if you use linux)..
then, just take an apk only for an example.. mm.. Launcher.apk!! rename it to Launcher.apk.zip and u will see several directory, one of this is res..
extract to desktop and you will see all the launcher images..
the only thing you have to do is replace them with your own images (same dimension and format, png..)
once you done that.. reopen Launcher.apk.zip and replace this your new images with the old one and finally rename again to Launcher.apk
do this with every apks and framework-res.apk too cos here there are a lot of images of android like the battery icon or smileys (the one of the sms's) and much more, also the top bar..)
then, if u use metamorph just follow this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591329
or if you want use the update.zip you must first read this
how to sign .zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580
if u use metamorph u must only copy the file u want to replace..
else if u want the update.zip u must copy every file into apks, then sign..
if into the zip file you want to add both app and framework and font too.. you must add a directory called " com ".. u can find this directory in any theme you download, its in the " meta-inf" directory
ok??? its not so difficult trust in me..
i found this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467639 ..
...wrote in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468254
maybe it can help you more..
Thank's that's exactly what I'm looking for, I owe you big time
but what about the notification bar?
u can find notification bar into framework-res.apk under the drawable and drawable-land folders..
the name of images are staus_background.png then bottombar.png and maybe another one.. anyway, thanks to cloverdale you must read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606011
and download Black_Lite-v3.0.1 Full Theme.
here u can find the black notification bar (and many other thing..)
its a metamorph theme
I haven't tested it yet but it should work. make a nandroid backup before u apply this changes
alright, thanks for all the help, man
wow, great reply! so much for being a "beginner." i've been rooted and constantly looking around for new ways to mod my g1, and i still had NO clue how to theme or use metamorph. thanks!

im a beginner but i learn quickly.. i was in your same point some weeks ago..
if u want learn something about theming or else just follow the link i wrote before. i used them to improve my knowledge about themes..
if u still have trouble, download:
1. any themes u want
2. a theme that use metamorph (like Black_Lite-v3.0.1 Full Theme for example)
u will see the difference
to use metamorph is simply.. download it from the market and then copy the zip file or directory u want into the AndroidThemes folder on ur sdcard (u will see this folder after u install metamorph)..
next step will be open metamorph and select the one .thm file.. done
the only thing u hav to remember is make a nandroid backup cos if u dont like the new themes u can simply go back (without flash the rom again..)
all u hav to do guys is read more and do more practice
First of all I dotn take much credits for this has there is little PS work done by myself , putting these icons together is very time consuming but not so hard ...
thx to reefer lots of these comes from his work ..
Also there is a few Icons and 2 docks for LP made by others ( I am sorry I forgot ) all credits goes to them, again I only modded a few of them to my liking . ( icons_etc.zip ) you can find them in the 'my AXURA theme thread' here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877388
they are attached no need to attached them twice
Launcher Pro 8.1.1 & CM 's musik.apk both modded by hestheone64
Slightly readjusted some icons from my previous Axura release
Themed dialer ( more slick numbers and not transparent anymore)
On some pictures the black on black doesn't look as well as it does on the phone 'irl'
This theme is CWM just flash it from Recovery ( choose update.zip form sdcard) or using rom manager should work to . You actually flash this like you would flash a rom .
here are links for the actual theme :
http://www.multiupload.com/VCLNNH909H
Here are the SS
Looks pretty damn dark. May have to give it a try.
Beautiful! Overall a great day in rom, and theme flashing as well as hard use with great battery life on darky.
One request, in the dialer tabs favorites is spelled favourites. Could you change that? if not, its really not that big of a deal.

Ok stuoid question but on the link to ur axura theme thread.the.files say place on root on sd card what do u mean like the icons it says.extract anywhwere and the rest say extract on the root of sd card...would someone clue me into where that.is lol thanks so much

actually you can place the files anywhere, only the launcherpro back up needs to be in the root ( because thats where Launcherpro will look for it ) I tried to make steps so nobody wold be confused , root of the sdcard means you extract in sdcard not in subfolders .
awesomeness
This is about THEMEing, I figure If Im going to find the answer it will likely be here.
Im looking to edit this easter egg on android 3.2. (when you tap android version in settings).I know the image resides in framework-res. and the plat logo activity is called in DeviceInfoSettings.smali in settings.apk . But where is the toast or the text? I could have swore I saw it before on my old device somehwere under strings.xml as "REZZZZZZ..."
It may be called as a mToast w/custom text like gingerbread.
I though I have seen this changed in some custom roms, maybe someone could link me to one..
anyone have any clue on how to change this text? Thanks a million.
(I obviously have very little experience with java/smali)
thank you! and for the first person that asks why... Becuz its the theming thread, and we like to theme!!
thinking it must be in one of the framework/jar files i'll try framework.jar and android.jar first.
[SOLVED]
YUP in framework.jar android internal app platlogoactivity.smali
for future reference in case anyones interested.
now to see if it builds..
Can you please tell me how to find this with root explorer? I would like to finish my theme with some custom text.
New lime colored dialer theme added which matches with our latest google play layout
Dont we like rose??
then why dont we try rose coloured dialer..
Numbers are clearly opaque on red dialer pad & i would like to share dialer.apk file but it may not compatible with your roms thus you will need to follow the given steps
1.install Ninjamorph from google play
2.download the given .zip file & extract it
3.start ninjamorph->starts check->new project->system->apps->DialerTabActivity.apk wait untill it decompiles the apk then go back
4.Now open a file explorer, copy the extracted pngs from downloaded zip file & paste them in AndroidThemes/Workspace/DialerTabActivityapk/res/drawable-mdpi/
5.Open Ninjamorph click on finish project->DialerTabActivityapk->wait until the apk is compiled->click yes->then click No->click again No
finally Done!!! check for the dialer with new Icon in your apps drawer
(If you dont like the new dialer you can find your old dilaer in /AndroidThemes/Backups/DialerTabActivity.apk)
Hope you all like it

Don't irritate others..
if you can't appriciate someone's effort then its better to keep quite..
@op i think for green dialer
black numbers are better as the green is very bright and cant see numbers good

i agree with you, but i thought it could be better to ask directly themers rather than flooding general section with just silly questions..

Very good logic :good:
But, We have a General Discussion thread for that ( [GENERAL][OFF-TOPIC]No question is noobish
here). Just ask any question or request there
Hello. I am new in Android developing. I want to start from somethink "easy".
I just downloaded 2.3.6 JWB firemware with Semaphore kernel and i want to edit is.
I need help with this. My first think to edit is lockscreen. I want to Change font and center the clock but i dont know which files to edit.
Also in "MesoROM" i saw that lockscreen circle is changed to animated one (like s3 mini and other samsung devices with ICS/JB).
Anyone can help me to make this or to PORT this lockscreen from jw8 rom to jwb?
Also i want to make theme 'like s4' but also i dont know how to do it. Edit images isnt problem, XML is harder (i dont know which file to edit). I know HTML, CSS, PHP. I even used to "touch" C++, Java Sccript and XML so i can teach everythink verry fast. Just need some tutorial or a person who can be my "MASTER" :]
Please anserw this thread or message me :]
I have few questions. If anyone could anserw would be great.
1. How to change "auto rotation" togfle to "mobile data"
2. How to move "clear" button from carrier laber bar to the notification bar like in newest galaxy s series devices. I saw this in saurom and ana rom and cant make myself
3. Wchich file is the lockscreen xml file to change font etc.
Thanks

Problem being , you need to use search and post your requests in the correct forum on XDA to get correct and quick answers. you would have made progress and response , when you post here
