[Q] Help with deleting contacts SGS I9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I ported my contacts onto my SGS by putting my sim card into my old phone and copying my contacts to sim.
I then copied the contacts to my SGS phone. In "Contacts" I can choose to view contacts from phone only, but if I try to forward a text to a contact I am shown the contacts from the phone and the sim card which means that with the exception of new contacts there are two copies of every contact.
Is there any method of deleting all sim card contacts en block, or do I have to delete each one individually, I have over 100 contacts so it will take a long time.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Contacts problem.

In trinity, when you copy contacts from sim to phone, u only see phone contacts. So you can edit and save more information under contacts stored on phone. However, in Kaiser, when you enter sim card, all sim contacts are already shown under contacts and sim contacts have limited editing. So in case you copy contacts from sim to phone, it makes it double in conatcs, showing two entries, one saved on phone and one on sim.
Is it possible to view only phone stored contacts without actually deleting contatcs from sim. I want original contacts to be stored on the sim. But copy of them should be in phone with extended informations like 2nd numbers, address, emails etc. But how to avoid two enteries? How to switch sim contacs off in "Contacts"???
I tried finding any solution but :-(.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Contacts problem

Hi,
Im having problems with my contacts, There are some contacts that are on the sim card and not in the outlook contacts. So What I want to do is merge the two so Ive got one list with all the contacts on in outlook.
Ive tried sync'ing them with active sync but the sim contacts seem to be missing when I go to my PC and look in Outlook. Ive gone into sim manager and tried copying them but it hasn't seem to have done what I want. So I was wondering if there is a way to merge the two so i can back them up and just have one list with the two sets of contacts in.
I hope this makes sense and you guys understand what Im trying to do.
I would really appreciate any help you could give me and explain where im going wrong.

contacts problem
Thanks for the reply,
I've tried that, but when I go into outlook to view my contacts on my pc there are still contacts missing from the PC that are in my phone. I am not sure if they are sim contacts or ones stored in outlook on the phone.
I guess what im after is something to view/explore the contacts on my phone and sim card on the computer so I can see them infront of me on the computer screen. Then I can save them from the phone and sim card together into one file and merge the sim and phone contacts together to have one list of the two together.
I hope you guys can understand what im trying to achieve and help me out as I would be extreemly greatful.
Thanks,
John

How to view contacts from phone only?

Hi guys. I have copied my contacts from my SIM card to the phone. However, the phone now shows both contacts from SIM card and phone, meaning duplicates of contacts.
Is there anyway to just view the contacts from either the phone or the SIM card?
With my wm6 tornado, that setting was hidden with phone network settings such as divert calls, call waiting etc.

[Q] SIM contacts availlable on Contacts tab?

Hi
I've had a search but I can't find anything regarding my question, which is this:
Is it possible to display the SIM contacts when the Contacts tab is selected?
From what I can see it is only the phone contacts that are visible. I am aware that I can copy my SIM contacts to the phone to get them to be visible, but this is not what I want to do if I can help it. I am also aware that I may not be able to get photos associated to my SIM contacts, but that's not a problem for me.
Thanks

How delete SIM Contacts?

I am having problems with my contacts. Thread here. Not making a lot of progress.
One suggestion I read somewhere was to delete my contacts from the SIM. But the Contact management software on the phone only allows copy to/from the SIM.
Anyone know how to delete contacts from the SIM on a Captivate?

I couldn't find way to delete all the contacts from SIM card all together. I've deleted them one by one.
Go to 'Contacts', here you'll see contacts marked with small sigh of SIM card. Hold you finger on the contact for 2-3 seconds. A pop-up menu will apper. The menu contains 'Delete' item. Choose it and the contact will be deleted from the SIM card.
I put the SIM in an older (Symbian) phone. That permitted wholesale deletion of the contacts.
Thanks for the tip. I put it back in my WinMo phone to delete them.
Tempting to make a wise crack
So far, the only thing I've found is "Contact Remover" on the market. I tried it after reading a post by Kak and android forums.

Like he says, you can't "organize" it based on sim or phone, but your sim card contacts will always be listed 1st.
So if you have

The 1st two will likely be from your sim card. I would export your contacts first, just in case and maybe double check their order by displaying both phone and sim contacts. It's not perfect, but it made it a heck of a lot easier than individually deleting!
