YOU MUST HAVE A SWYPE.APK LOCATED IN /SYSTEM/APP/ FOR THIS METAMORPH TO APPLY!
To summarize, when you type "ls /system/app" in your terminal on your phone, you should see a "Swype.apk" file located there. If not, go to the instructions right after this notice in the post.
====Theme Application Instructions============
You MUST have this file: /system/app/Swype.apk
The theme is designed to apply to Galaxy S phones where we already have a Swype.apk located there. If you are using an installed version, follow these steps to determine how to continue from here:
In Terminal type:
Code:
ls /system/app/
If you don't see a Swype.apk or a com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk listed, then type this:
Code:
ls /data/app/
If you still don't see a Swype.apk or a com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk, you're in the wrong thread
If you found that your Swype file is located in the system directory, then you are 3/4 of the way to being prepared for a metamorph theme. If this is you, but your file is named com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk, check the next step to get set up to apply the morph.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In order for the morph to apply, the file HAS to be named Swype.apk.
So, to get to that point, do this:
In Terminal:
Code:
su
cp /system/app/com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk /system/app/Swype.apk
Now that you have the Swype.apk in your /system/app/ directory, continue on to the theme application step.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are not one of the lucky ones to have Swype in your /system/app/ directory and it is in your /data/app/ directory, follow these steps to allow the file to be themed by metamorph:
In Terminal:
Code:
su
cp /data/app/com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk /system/app/Swype.apk
or
Code:
su
cp /sd-ext/app/com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk /system/app/Swype.apk
Basically, we want to get a copy of the Swype file in the /system/app/ directory, with the EXPLICIT name of Swype.apk, so that the theme will read it and apply it accordingly. Once you have done this, move onto the next step.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
APPLYING THE THEME
Now that you have a Swype.apk file in your /system/app/ directory, it's time to apply the Metamorph. If you have read this far, I'm assuming you already know how to use this application, so go through the usual steps and apply the theme, TWICE, ALWAYS TWICE!
If you have a themed Swype.apk, then you are ready for the next step, which will be replacing the normal Swype with the themed Swype.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
For those with Swype in /system/app/ :
Code:
su
mv /system/app/Swype.apk /system/app/com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk
Then Reboot.
For those with Swype in /data/app/ :
Code:
su
mv /system/app/Swype.apk /data/app/com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk
Then Reboot
==============================
Ok, in an effort to consolidate all of my threads in the Galaxy S forums, I am posting my WVGA Swype theme work here.
Most of the time I have to apply these themes twice in order for them to work correctly, so instead of getting ahead of yourself, or skipping over instructions in the OP, just APPLY THE THEME TWICE.
The images are only samples, and the on screen view is much clearer.

How to Edit the Swype Trail Color Properly
Line in new Swype to edit trail color is :0004B7DO, 0C, 0D, 0E, 0F
HEX COLOR: DDa25B
html code: 5Ba2DD
Use a Hex editor such as HxD. That is what I use.
Install and use it to open the libcoreSwype.so file located in
EITHER:
com.swype.android.inputmethod.apk/lib/armeabi/
OR:
/system/lib/
Press CTRL+F, or select find from the menu, and make sure you are searching Hex Values from the menu, and not text-string
Type in "DD A2 5B", WITH the spaces in between, and it will take you line that contains the trail line color, and it will be highlighted.
The hex color code for the original Swype line is DDA25B, which is 5BA2DD in HTML.
You have to use the hex code to get the color you want. But, you have to invert the first and third pairs when you edit the file. For example, red's color code is usually #FF0000. What we would do for a red trail line is replace DD A2 5B with 00 00 FF. The second pair stays the same.
Change to your liking, and save as libcoreSwypeRED.so or libcoreSwypeBLUE.so, etc. so you know what color it is.
When you share the file you have edited, make sure that you rename it back to libcoreSwype.so
and.... BOOM, NEW SWYPE LINE COLOR WOOT WOOT!
Reserved for future updates
It's possible to port this themes to HVGA (mdpi)? Especially the naked ones.
Swype v2.10.52.13753
Can you make these themes for the NEW swype release?
Thanks
Currently, AFAIK, there are only two *basic* versions of Swype, one with voice input, and one without. There are different release versions all over the damn place, which is why I have made this theme a MetaMorph, so the skin will apply all over. Once I build a theme library I am comfortable with, I will begin to port them all over to QVGA, HVGA, and others that I'm probably unaware of ATM. Would be badass to see my skins on a Galaxy Tab, no lie
How hard would it be to make them for the swype without the voice input? Would you consider doing the skins for them?
as i build my themes, I am creating both versions (voice input and without).
It's not that hard, just give me a little time to finish all of them.
I am currently using a Froyo rom that has the Voice Input Swype included, but I must say the accuracy on every Voice Input version I've tried is ridiculously poor, and the normal version just flies. So once I get ALL my projects corralled into one big folder and can post it up, I will switch back to non voice input myself.
But in the meantime, expect theme releases, possibly 1 or 2 themes every few days. My HoeyPhone7 theme is coming along nicely, here's a preview:
keep in mind, this is still a concept with a few blurry spots to be ironed out and slight aligment adjustments to be made. I will be making this one compatible with both versions like all other themes

Good work!
That's good news. Thanks hoey
Ok guys, I just posted the Hoey Phone 7 and Galaxy S-Flavored HP7 themes!
I saw a guy somewhere online that had been designing the same sort of theme for Swype on Windows 6.1 phone or something, and all I could get from it was .cab files. I don't know what to do with a .cab file, and don't have much inclination to learn, so I just decided to start from scratch. I might post color variations of it besides the plain HP7 Grey and the Galaxy Blue, but right now, I will be turning my focus to making a full V.I. and non-V.I. theme set. That way, you can have your cake AND eat it
I worked extra hard on the HP7 theme, so please leave your feedback
Those new ones look really good, good job
Will these work with the HVGA versions? If not, do you know where I can find some themes for the HVGA versions?
right now they are only WVGA, and ONLY voice input. So, just give me some time to finish completing the conversion, and I will post all themes for Non-V.I. all at once, then I will post all HVGA, and VGA themes after that.
Time grasshoppa
These should work on the Evo right? Same size (wvga) right?
Followed to the t and after rebooting swype is gone, and I am left restoring using titanium backup.

Apply the morph twice. It has gotten to the point with my tests that I have to apply it twice to make swype show up again. The first application usually makes it disappear, but a second run at it usually does the trick. Just apply twice in a row, let me know how that works

Tried that, since thats what you said to do in the op. Still no go.

This should work for most builds. If you dont see your ROM build in the flashes then this is what you will want to try! If your current ROM does not have 1-100% battery then use "No Batt" version!! Remember make sure USB debug is on, and for Froyo if you get a FC or a crash then soft reset. When phone is back up continue on to the next part of the theme! You can either to it the hard way, here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812541
Or, what I would personally recommend.
Take my Metamorph file and using winrar or 7zip double click the file to open it.
Take the file you want to use and rename it "status_bar_background.9.png".
Replace the old file inside of MMDarkness/twframework-res/res/drawable-hdpi with the new one you just renamed, close the file, and place it on your phone.
Using Metamorph find the new theme, If there was an old Darkness theme then "Replace" not update, and then theme the twframework-res theme.
You are done, soft reset to see changes!

Was I only supposed to put it in one framework? I put it in twframework-res.apk and also framework-res.apk
I didn't try it your way as I didn't put your theme back on after my earlier restore. I had done something and my nandroid was of b6 which had your theme on it but didn't realize it was b6 so I restored then updated to b7 and didn't put your theme back on. To make a long winded explination
I have applied the morph (great work by the way, made my first one today lol) but the top buttons above the dialer didnt change. I still have the default blue. Do you know what the png is called for that one? Also on the lock screen once you slide it over to unlock it the back half turns back to green green?

Flashing the Update zips.
I used Zip themer to create the zips. So please do a NAND before trying this method. I can not guarantee it will work. Just reboot into recovery and flash the zip file.
MM the theme
Place the Minimal_Green.zip or Minimal_Blue.zip in AndroidThemes and extract using MM. Then do the normal business.
MM can be buggy. So apply one at a time and do the framework last. If MM gives you an error after extracting the zip saying that the theme is not valid, just restart MM and your theme will be there. If MM hangs (the spinner stops spinning) give it a bit and it should re-boot by itself. It has done this to me multiple times. But the theme always sticks.
When applying MM and a sub theme doesn't stick, the main reason for this is that you have a duplicate apk in data/app. Delete the one in system/app and move the new one over from data/app to system/app. Then reboot. See THIS thread for further details.
Installing the fonts.
Place the font zip in the root of your SDCard and flash that from recovery. I've included the font I am using and the stock font in case you want to go back.
I have tested this on KaosFroyo v37 though v39. Nothing else. So do a NAND if you are going to try it on another ROM or phone.
For people asking about how to re-size and overlap widgets, go HERE.
As usual, I am not responsible if you brick your phone. And do a NAND first!

Would it be possible to use this theme on a donut ROM for the myTouch 3G/G1 (SuperD 1.11)?
It's a MDPI phone, so it should work, right?

The Eris is MDPI. So the resolution will be correct. But I have no idea about the structure of the myTouch. You can try. But do a NAND first just in case
In the fifth picture, there is a date shown on the right of the analog clock, is it included in your theme?

General Info
I do not have a Desire HD to test this on, so I would appreciate it if someone could a.) alert me, preferably on twitter, when a new build is made, and b.) let me know if the theme I post here works.
This theme is extensive with over 2000 edited .png files and more than 35 .xml files.
There are no icons included with this theme. If you would like icons, then you can use ADW.Launcher or ADW EX download Minimalist - ADW Theme.
If you would like to donate to me for my work in this theme, then you can download the Donate version of the above mentioned theme. Search for "Minimalist Donate - ADW Theme" to find it.
If you would like to port this theme to any other device or use any part of it for your own doing, then you can download my images and edited .xml files from this post.
You do not have to ask me if you can port this or use any part of it. You do not have to credit me for any of my work in this theme.
I will not be checking this page frequently, but I will try to answer any questions posted here whenever I update the links. If you want a quicker answer, then I suggest saying something to me on Twitter (@david1171_).
This theme is for the official CM7 Nightly ROMs.
Theme Info
The widgets are transparent with white text. I recommend using a dark wallpaper.
The font included in the theme is the Ubuntu font.
If you are using Amon_RA's recovery and the theme is not applying after flashing, then you need to use clockwork recovery.

Install Instructions: PLEASE READ!!!
1. Set MetaMorph delay to around 1000 (My exact number is 1054) then press Close
2. Press Unzip/Extract new theme
3. Navigate to where you have Minimalist_Lockscreen_Icons.zip located
4. Select the file
5. Press close on the on the pop up that appears
6. Press Apply all!
7. It WILL force close com.android.phone when it applies the Phone.apk, I do not know of any way around this.
8. While the force close pop up is on the screen, another pop up menu will appear behind the force close pop up and the buttons will say either Continue? or Stop; you must quickly press Force close on the force close pop up, then press Continue? on the other pop up menu; it will then start applying the framework-res.apk
9. The device may freeze up at this point, if it does freeze up (mine did), then wait about 30 seconds, then pull the battery and boot your phone
10. Everything should be applied now
Animations by rover.prince - http://bit.ly/iejwtm

Apply this with MetaMorph.

Yup just realized and I love it! Awesome theme, but one bug. When you type on the keyboard, the letters pop-up and show the letter in a box usually, well the box is black and the letter doesn't show up :/ The small "..." shows in white but not the letter. Just thought I'd let you know. But to make a theme for a phone you don't have is just TALENT!
Oh and the "&" button on the keyboard says "&" I think.
Use a different keyboard . HTC IME mod is great.
There is a bug in the browser, small and not very noticeable though:
(the part marked red)
I like gingerbread keyboard more than HTC imo :/
I made a splash1 to suit the Minimalist theme.
You need HBOOT S-OFF to flash it.
Unpack and flash using adb with the following command:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
File in the attachment.
i thought the latest cm7 builds supported themeing through apk's? or can minimalist not be ported through it?
Updated to cm_ace_full-18.zip. Fixed the "&" problem with the keyboard, also fixed the letters not showing on the popup when you hold a letter.

I've known about the "&" bug for a while but didn't know what caused it until today when I really started looking for it. There is an extra amp; in LatinIME.apk/res/xml/popup_punctuation.xml at line 7 where it says <Key android:keyLabel="& amp;amp;" /> instead of <Key android:keyLabel="& amp;" /> which is what it should've said to begin with. I think the problem was apktool was doing adding the extra amp; when it was decompiling the .apk. The other one was something I never really paid attention too, but I fixed it in LatinIME.apk/res/values/colors.xml at line 12 by making <color name="latinkeyboard_key_color_white">#ffffffff</color> instead of <color name="latinkeyboard_key_color_white">#ff000000</color> which it previously was.
It isn't that hard for me to include this phone, the only difference it has from the Nexus One version that is on my phone is that framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk, and Browser.apk are taken from the device specific ROM and themed. The rest are the same .apk's that I use.
The only real work is uploading ~175MBs worth of themes and downloading ~720MBs worth of ROMs.

Thank you for pointing that out to me. I don't ever look at the top of the browser enough to notice that, or I move away from it before it gets to that image. It is fixed in this version. Also, I like the splash screen that you did.
This thread has by far been the most helpful in pointing out things; the screen shots make it a lot easier to know what the problem is.

Because of all the .xml's that I have edited in this theme (along with the ton of .png's) I do not know how all of it would be made to work with the theme engine. Also, as far as I know, there is not a guide out on how to make the themes, or even what all can be themed with the theme engine. Even if I did know how to do all that, after looking at the source for the themes available, there would still be several thousand lines I would have to type up for it. For now, the current method is easier (not to mention proven to work with all my mods) for me.
The images for sliders have come back (Y), but the battery is now stock looking. (#18 build)

Will attatch a log cat if I can.
just flashed this, great theme.
can you possibly add a flashable add-on to bring back the slider (unlock/sound off or on)? it looks weird without it...
Edit: the & key on the keyboard shows up as "&". Looking forward to a fix.

I put a flashable keyboard in the OP later on that day because I forgot about those until after I had uploaded the 9 themes, but the fixed version is in the themes now. The "<" key was also messed up along with the letters that were displayed when you longpress the "(" key.
If metamorph works with CM7 without force closing or messing anything up when applying framework-res.apk, then I can make a morph to add them back.

3g only
Looks really nice.
Thanks, Lokko!
My current challenge is theming the widget and app selection screens. I can't seem to find the app that handles them. If anyone knows, lemme' know.
There's other stuff like outer-glow while moving widgets/shortcuts and the blue outline that appears while scrolling through homescreens that I'm still trying to track down. I'm fairly certain the former is handled by code (in an XML file), so that will have to wait.
I like, I like...
Might have to borrow one or two of your techniques
Looks good Ill give it a shot....

Yeah. They'll be there. The Market button is actually a Widgetsoid shortcut and not a circle launcher, but it would work well if you wanted to put a circle launcher on it with the stock market, Amazon market, and Appbrain. In fact, I think I might do that on my XOOM.

I hope to get a beta out in the next couple of days. It will only be for the 3G version. I don't have a wifi version to mess around with. I'm also going to throw in the clock widget and music widget (which needs a little work).
[edit]
Have a look at this mockup for the green buttons.
I personally think white looks better but won't have the full effect until I can change the clock to white as well. I'm also considering changing them to Nexus S buttons instead of Droid buttons, but since this is a Motorola product, I'm probably going to leave them alone.
[update] Launcher is finished.

Ow that hurt ...is there anyway to apply your theme the same way Bignadad applied his to wifi models?
I'll have to ask him how he did it. I'm guessing he just got the framework-res and SystemUI from the system image that's posted up in the dev forum. If that's the case, it shouldn't be too difficult.
this looks nice glad I own a 3g model
Looks great! I can appreciate the creativity in the lockscreen. Im currently in progress of my own theme as well. I had PM bignadad a few questions regarding decompiling of .apk's. I seem to be struggling at getting a succesful decompile. Any ideas?

Hey, XDA! Long time, no see!
Sorry for going AWOL for so long. Work got super busy and I had to force myself to NOT come to XDA in order to focus on real life. I was spending waaay too much time tinkering with my XOOM and I just had to take a step back.
But, things have slowed down a little bit and I've actually got a new theme in the works. This time, I've got a team to help with the porting! MitchTank (and maybe dhemke17) are going to port the theme over to Tiamat and WiFi, and they also have my blessing to re-port Honeybread.
So, without further ado, here is the new theme I'm working on. It's about 90% complete, and I should have a file up by the end of the week. Also, it will only be 99% complete until Sangreal06 updates hnytool to work with 3.2.
STARGATE COMPUTER, or SGC, is based off of the computer screens in Stargate Atlantis, with some artistic liberty for the unlock ring, clock and other circular items.

You are the man, a true artist. Looking forward to it. Email me if you want anything.
Blows the current theme options out of the water... Please hurry LOL
Things left to do:
-Change small button and check box colors in framework-res.
-Change icons for quick menu (they look OK now, but I want something different)
-recolor the music app.
-Maybe change the BeautifulWidget clock font from bold to normal to slim it up. I'm not too crazy about the bold the longer I have it on my homescreen.
When I'm able to decompile:
-Change status bar and quick settings clock colors in SystemUI
-Change outer glow drag color in Launcher
-Reskin Settings and Gmail apks.
I found an updated version of apktool, so hopefully I can get it working soon.
looks cool..

Sounds awesome! I am glad you are skinning the apks. It is very exciting for us guys who want a theme that isnt just a color change to everything. It is also nice to see different icons... I desperately want to theme my icons, but without custom home launcher it is hard.. Well they are out there but they suck and lose some of xooms cooler animations. Really excited for this...
I love this theme. Cannot wait to get my hands on this one. Thumbs up for sure!!!!!
awesome theme, i want!!!

I should have a beta out tomorrow. I was going to release it yesterday but I started to notice some crazy stuff happening with apps crashing a lot. Then I read this on the apktool code site. It was the .arsc file causing the crashes in my framework, so I had to revert back to the stock file, meaning some of the colors I wished to change aren't changed (there are still some oranges here and there), so I'll just have to wait until apktool is fixed until I change those colors.
I could release it now, but I want to live with it for today to make sure I don't have any other weird little bugs. One thing that sucks is that I can't edit certain other apps that I wanted to. Browser is only partially themed, except for the quick controls color, which is defined in the .arsc, so it's still stock for the most part. Gmail and the Calendar app have a lot of text colors that need changing, but they crash randomly due to the .arsc file change, so for now they are stock.
Here's a list of everything I've changed.
Android:
framework-res.apk
SystemUI.apk
Launcher2.apk
Settings.apk
Browser.apk (mostly)
Music2.apk (Actually still working on this one a little)
3rd party:
Thumb Keyboard (this is a paid app, so I'm not sure how to go about this one)
Beautiful Widgets (Superclock, Battery, Weather)
AudioManager
Circle Launcher icons
i dont know much about this stuff but would it be any benefit to use the modified hnytool.apk in the development forum? Or does that not help any?
It would if Sangreal06 would updated it. Right now it's tuned to 3.1, so it doesn't decompile.

I haven't had any problems decompiling 3.2 ... perhaps you could send me a PM with your problem and I might be able to help.
This is freaking awesome. I want to get into theming but I need to buy myself a laptop. Mac or Windows? Which one has more tools for theming.

Windows would be more universal for it. They did just update hnytool for Mac, but windows is still simpler.
