Anyone know an application (for the Tilt) similar to the one G1 has, that allow you get a barcode a search for the products price? It looks like the camera works as the barcode reader, but I'm not sure if that's only a software stuff or special hardware.
Barcorama by hypest (a member here). Works great.

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, my internet is not great currently. Can you load tomtom on the HD7? I have read somewhere that it comes with tomtom maps and you pay a premium for turn by turn navigation.
Any ideas?
Thats for the Desire HD, Not HD7, since the TomTom for HTC is using the HTCSense Android navigation app
So there currently isn't a turn by turn navigation app for wp7? Bugger.
There seems to be one: Navigon select
(it's delivered with the HTC Mozart (T-Mobile Germany) on November 3.)

No current GPS works so it's encouraging to see that Germany will have something in November, meaning the companies ARE working on it. Won't be long now.
Well I read at Pocket Now that turn by turn navigation may appear in the January update...
http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/windows-phone-7-update-in-january-may-bring-turn-by-turn-gps
Of course, at the moment this is just a rumour, but it would seem foolish for Microsoft to ignore an opportunity like that considering Google are pushing it for free on Android...

That probably true as most other smart phone OS have this feature and so they will probably add it soon to catch up with other OS like Android.
Bing Maps for WM6.5 supports turn-by-turn navigation. The questions is not IF rather WHEN Microsoft gonna add it for WP7 as well.

Neither Google or Bing Maps support turn by turn in the UK on WM6.5 so I'm not holding my breath for the WP7 version. Would be good if it did.
Copilot is also being very tight lipped about WP7
Well, I am not sure about Bing, however Google Maps Navigation (on Android) works perfectly in UK and it is quite good. Actually I've never tried Bing, since for WM there are plenty of really good third-party offline navigation software. I do not think we will see the same quality for WP7 soon.

Neither worked on WM 6.5 using the Energy ROMs, but it is good to hear that they made it to the Android version in the UK so there is hope if Google release Google Maps for WP7.
I emailed co-pilot asking them about their product on Windows Mobile 7, this was their reply:
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
Unfortunately we have not tested the latest Windows Phone 7 as yet, We are planning to test it in the near future, but unable to tell you exactly when it will be released.
If you have any further questions, or feel that this incident has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do not hesitate to bring this to our attention.

CoPilot Technical Support
lol. The CoPilot answer really cheered me up. How pathetic
GPS should be free, MS needs to step up. Android, nokia etc offers free voice navigation. This is the only one I hate about my phone.
give it some time, bing worked well for wm 6.x, let's give them an update or two to get Bing for wp7 to have a chance to get updated.
I was riding home today and thought of a few reasons I could see why it wouldn't work as launched, I didn't write any down because I was driving, but many had to do with power management, and the way the interface is currently setup, minor things that may have taken extra time to get tweaked so they just work, rather than feeling hacked-together
I'm just slightly worried that if Microsoft do bring Bing GPS Navigation, whether it will be restricted only to the US again as in the UK, we were unable to use the Bing GPS Turn by Turn Navigation on Windows Mobile 6.x!
Because if that's the case, us Brits will still be left with NOTHING and no alternative!!
The Navigon product proves it is possible, I guess other firms may wait to see how much take up there is of WP7 before they commit development resources, or maybe they have something in the pipe now, or maybe Microsoft will release a Bing Maps turn by turn product

I agree. Not ALL parts of the world have superb internet access specially when you're off the city. I mean GPS and internet shouldn't be packaged.
Even if Bing maps and google maps ARE for free. With slow data connection and you're on the road, you will 100% miss your turn before your map appears on the phone. That's just silly.
I miss my GMXT on 6.1
Surely you guys are just using the Satnav solution you used before you purchased your WP7 phone? I still use Tomtom on my HD2 in the car, and bing maps on the HD7 on foot.
It's not that hard, and will do until Satnav eventually makes it onto WP7.
If the lack of satnav is a dealbreaker for you, you shouldn't really have bought an HD7.
The compass on my htc hd2 with wm7 is not working. Does anybody put this apl to work. I thing this is related with the sence capabilities of the phone.
How can I make this apl to work on my hd2 ?

Only for Samsung phones at the moment: http://www.daveamenta.com/2011-01/compass-app-for-windows-phone-7/
Distant
use this free tool if you wish, it can help you a lot in going to directions that you saved or you may enter manually, it gives you direction, and altitude to reach places like digital compass, and you could use maps of your area to put coordinates...
Thanks for your help,
I'll wait for some new rom to fix this issue. I trust in the xda team to cooked some new rom that run the compass properly.
Welcome!!
me too waiting...,
in fact, outdoor navigation has a compass that worked for me for 5 min?!?!?!?than it wouldn't.
so i think it's a few registry correction and i would work fine...
Bump...any word on a compass yet? Several apps in the marketplace tell me they cannot function properly because my device does not have a compass. Compasses downloaded from marketplace also do not work and give me the same message.
this one seems to be working..
in my phone is working ....i dont know how i didnt do anything at all but its working i didnt pay mutch attention but when i tried it it worked for 10-15 minutes . when i will use it again i will confirm
Try this version
Hi, Does anybody know if there will there be any Navigation Software for the HD7 soon? I Miss Tomtom / Amigo on my old Asus O2.
Many Thanks
in the marketplace there are a lot of apps that claim to be, but they're not quite there yet
but one that stands out is Outdoor Nav, it really is so much more closer to TomTom, Navteq, etc than any other app
you should give it a try, it has a lot of features that you'd expect: poi, compass, trip planner, various meters for speed, altitude, it even lets you draw your own route between points etc.
There is Xmaps and a-to-b..
there is also Navigon selekt, but u need to unlock and sideload it on the phone.
Once Nokia ships out wp7 os devices ms will have access to Nokia nevi app...
A-to-B is quite good
a-to-b is free and did a small test and it works
Have also Navigon Select but could not save an adress zo a bit annoying
Until Microsoft adds proper API access to all their hardware (GPS/Compass etc), I doubt we will see anything from TomTom/Garmin.
guys anyone out there who has a cab file for compass... ( one that shows east west north south)
i ended up searching duttys compass bt it aint working on my x1...
so plz any one has one or similar app showing EWNS direction... for x1... :-o
Hi there, as much as I know, Xperia X1 does not have the necessary hardware for those applications. For a compass application to work you need an apropriate chip implemented in your device. Although you can walk around the problem by using some GPS apps that can point certain direction (for example North). The only thing is that you have to move a few meters in a straight line, for the app to know which direction you face On android you could use a geocaching app "c:geo".
