Hi,
I'm new to the Galaxy S+ and was wondering whether the ROMs available for the generic Galaxy S (I9000) also work for the GS+ (I9001)?
Thanks
short answer: No.
Your phone wil crash if you do that
yes it will brick but here is a list where you can find roms and more for the SGS+
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409605
it will probably full brick your phone, so it is as usable like a stone ^^
btw: (rhyme xD)
no you can't, only if u plan buildin a house, and you need one brick more
Hey guys, i am thinking of buying Galaxy S. Thing is, the one i will be getting is a Korean logo free GT-i9000.
So, i wanted to ask, would i be able to use all the custom roms and apps available for the international GT-i9000 ?
Waiting for the replies ...
Thanks!

Korean versions are known as SHW M110S and they can only use ROMs listed at Pit stop, click my signature.
check by menu>settings>about phone> Model Number ?
Hi, first off im a noob when it comes to this stuff so try to be patient with me
I recently rooted my SGAce S5830-D And put CWM on it, everything went fine.
Then I went to flash it to ICS 4.0.3 And the installation aborted and I soft bricked my phone >.>
I just flashed it back to Gingerbread 2.3.4 and I was wondering.
Is there a difference between Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 and the S5830D in terms of what you flash it with?
Id rather not brick my phone again so I came here to make sure.
Also, if you could provide a link to a ROM that would work for my model that you know works 100% please do would be
very helpful, thanks in advance.
Galaxy Ace S5830 and S5830-D are very different models. You cant (and should not ) install S5830 ROM's on your phone. It will get brciked again.

If it says 679 then it is likely to be exhibit varient. If it says i8150 then it is more likely galaxy w varient. Go to setting and then about phone.

should i just flash 679 roms ?
i hate when carrier puts their own names to handsets
thanx for the reply
this is what my about phone have
model number sgh-t679
android version 2.3.6
baseband vers.
t679walg2
kernel
2.6.35.7-perf-t679walg2-cl1169838
buid
gingerbread.walg2
what ya think should i man up and flash the exhibits roms?
Make backup first if you ever decide to flash custom rom. that way you can go back where you were.
Do not flash tmobile stock or stock rooted or peach if you are worried about baseband as these will replace your current baseband with t-mobile one. So you will have to stay with cm9/10 related group of rom.
We have people from Canada flashing roms here just fine. I guess you may be the first one from pr. So decide if you want to take the risk.

It sure looks to be the same phone. Even our wiki speaks of a galaxy w.
gonna flash cm9 just to b sure thanxs

Dont forget the nandroid

There has been a little confusion, so allow me to clear it up once again SGH-T679M is marketed in Canada as the Samsung Galaxy W 4G by Bell Mobility. With the exception of the M in it's model number, it is precisely the same as T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 4G and it's former Samsung Exhibit II 4G monikor. It seems apparent that your carrier is doing the same thing. In other words, you're in the proper forum as long as your About Phone says T679 - stay away from the I8150 forum if you don't want to brick your phone (Well, you can go ahead and read - just don't flash anything from there)
ok so cm9 works like a charm
wonder if the others roms will to. i like the status bar toggles
If one works chances are the rest will as well

I would like to convert my Galaxy S I9000 to a Galaxy S I9000M (Vibrant) Canadian.
I would appreciate it if someone could help with the rooting and tell me the name of the firmwares I need to use such as the
Kernal, Rom, etc.
Thank You.
So just to clarify (because I'm a bit confused) you want to convert one device to another? The only safest thing you can do is change build.prop, and that's only going to change how the device displays. If you want to flash a Vibrant rom onto the I9000, that's a no go because that can screw up the device.

Any reasoin why you want to make the change
Hi,
My phone used to be a i9000m.
In order to use all the custom roms, I had to convert it to a i9000.
The only thing that carries over every time I flash a new rom is the modem.
You need to use the "KG3" because I think it has something to do with the frequencies that are used by the i9000m.
So, maybe your i9000 modem may not use the same frequencies? I'm guessing, not knowing.
i9000 was wonderful, why change?

Thank You for your replies.
I am trying to learn about the Android system.
I would like to convert my Galaxy S I9000 to run on the Bell System in Canada
and I figured I need to convert to something like the Galaxy S I9000M (Vibrant) Canadian firmware.
I would like to have an i9000 working with (Bell) Canadian firmware.
I would like to wipe/re-program the phone to a factory firmware and install a firmware that will work in Canada.
The same process you do when you format your PC's harddrive.
I would like to root/clean my i9000 and re-program it with updated firmwares, giving me an i9000 Canadian Phone .
If this is possible, I need to know the names of the Rom, kernel, etc. for Canada, I could use to do this.
Thank You.
Factory Firmware you can get from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
I have the GT-I9000M_I9000UGKC1_BMCKC1.zip from sammobile
Thank You
nyloncrack
Since you have your phone working in Canada would you be so kind and share with me,
the firmware you installed to do this and
how You installed it.
Also do you have a link for this "KG3" rom/kernal file?
Thank You.
