hey guys how are you?
ok i'll go straight to the problem, i bought my i9000 from Saudi Arabia and everything was perfect except it hasn't froyo
the GPS was working as it has to be, it catches 12 satellites and locked on 10 so that was perfect.
now i have flashed the official froyo from samsung arabia which supports arabic language, my problem is that the gps can't see more than 2 satellites and never locks to any 1...
is this a common problem, is there a fix for this?

Hello,
Last night I found available through KIES the firmware update to Froyo, I got JPA from TMN Portugal.
Phone had some problems with my google account, so I did a Factory Reset, everything seemed right after that, phone was real fast, no lag, I finally got rid of that stupid voodoo color fix wich made screen look to darn saturated....
When I tried GPS, it didn't work at all, couldn't get a lock on anything, I left it trying to stablish a connection for several minutes and nothing happened, usually, it wouldn't take more than 30 secs to get my position even with WiFi off.
Phone is working perfectly, only problem now is GPS, can't get it to work. before upgrading to JPA, I had JM8 from TMN Portugal too... and I had great GPS performance.
I have been thinking about flashing to JPO, but I'm really not sure if this will fix GPS.
Anyone here could help out?
Thanks.
GPS never locks, i was on KK1 baseband, then changed to kk6, then KL1, and now im on UGkk7, and still the same....
Im with franco kernel 14.4 and AOKP 21... dont know whre is the issue...
I will try UGKL1 radio...im in Mexico.
EDIT: Now im on UGKL1 and the GPS never locks : (
Try GPS Test, then settings, update A-GPS. This will load the current and future locations of GPS satellites to speed up GPS fix.
You will also be able to see if it is listening to any GPS satellites.
I've read around the forum and other forums as well about SGS GPS issue. From what I read, seems like SGS users did get their GPS to work but inaccurately.
My SGS has no custom ROM, running on 2.3.3. My GPS seems to not work at all. Every time I enter Navigation, it just gets stuck on "Waiting for location".
A-GPS might help you
Maybe try faster fix
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
As you are using non official beta rom that might be the problem .
Flash stock Froyo with pit 512 and repartition checked .

Well, sorry if I forgot to mention. This problem has occurred since I'm in my stock Froyo 2.2. I've read somewhere about GPS only working in Europe and USA?

The majority work world wide .
I suggest a service centre as it may be hardware .

NOPE !!!
im in the same area as you,,
use gps aids (find in the market)
and it;s fixed
Have u tried g-spot fix?
/nik on MIUI
GPS hardware works as a standalone GPS no A-GPS no wireless no network towers .
Take sim out of phone turn off WiFi delete GPS data .
Go outside clear view of sky and use something like GPS Test to pick up satellites .
No satellites after half an hour = hardware fault .
All these aids and GPS fixes do not fix faulty hardware .

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction, how to fix galaxy s plus gps?
It just doesnt get a lock.
Where are you?Different countries have different firmware. Different firmware have different GPS functionality.
I am in Canada and the stock firmware from Bell (UGKG3) has lousy GPS. I flashed XXJVS and the GPS works great.

Almost Android phones have problems with GPS
Hello to all...
i am using the cm-10-20120901-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd and i face a problem with GPS sync ...
as long as i used the gingerbread 2.3.6 with semaphore kernel the gps was working perfect and was locking satellites very fast.
fast and stable use of the GPS . i had never problem.
in the CM10 my phone faces difficulties to lock satellites and when that happens then it syncs and unsync every 10-15 seconds ...
i have done all wipes, i have install again the cm10 but i have still problems with the GPS signal.
i don't think so that there is a hardware problem because i have done the trick with the tape in the GPS antenna and because in stock 2.3.6 my GPS was working identical !!
by the way i have installed the same nightly in a friends of mine samsung S and his GPS works fine ....i don't know what happens ..
any ideas ?? anyone with the same problem ???
i would appreciate your help ...

GPS seemed to work well under Zeus 6.4 and Marvel 9. Both are 2.3.4 (N/O). I'd look at those.
