[Q] how to flash i9000 kernal with cap rom - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently using cog 2.3b2. I'd like to have hsupa but only i9000 kernal and modem from setiron supports it. How do I flash a setiron's kernal and use cognitions rom? I'm familiar with using cwm and odin. Would I flash the kernal first then the rom on top of it all using cwm?

All I did was flash the new version of cog then I used Odin to flash the kernel and it s works fine for me depending on your cappy you night have to flash to stock then the jg8 etc.

Sms not working

I have phoenix unleashed rom, onix 2.0.1 kernel, and uckb1 modem. I have bars but can't send texts. What's going on and how can I fix it?

You mixed a reoriented I9000 kernel with an I897 modem. Flash an I9000 modem and you should be ok.

Confused

I'm currently on darkys 10.1 JVH on dark core kernel and my modem is JVO. How would I flash to JVP from my current setup and will I lose root if I go to stock jvp?

I9000 Bootloaders and Customer Rom question

Ive recently flashed the 2.3.3 I9000 gingerbread bootloaders. Am I foolish to assume that I can now flash not only Captivate roms but galaxy s I9000 roms as well?

I9000 roms will require a captivate kernel for proper button mapping and orientation

I've been running Talon kernels since I first got root. Can you recommend a good Captivate kernel that will work with the I9000 roms?

Talon should do, obviously gb version

I tried to flash an I9000 jvr rom and the home button fix didn't work. So I flashed a talon kernel and got a soft brick. Flashed back to stock. Will have to try a diff kernel?

The ROM u r talking about comes with a kernel for captivate. You dont need to flash any fix on top of it. With that said you can flash I9000 roms that have been redone for captivate and which are present in Captivate Android Development and not Galaxy S Android Development

That was my original question. If any I9000 Rom would work now or if it had to be captivate specific.

[Q] JVR and JVQ

Hello to everybody.I have a Hybrid 2.0 XXJVR Rom and Galaxian EE kernel and i want to test F1 Galaxy S2-SP1 Rom which is based on XXJVQ.Do i have to install XXJVQ to test it or is done from XXJVR straight away? Thanks in advance!!!
If you want to use a custom rom that is gingerbread, you need to be running gingerbread for the bootloader. Same for FroYo.
Gingerbread > gingerbread
Froyo > froyo

so are you saying that i can?because in the F1 post says to flash XXJVQ rom first. Thanks for the reply!
If the post says to flash a certain firmware first, do it. The dev knows best.

(Q) darky rom

Hello, guys i am on blockbuster rom with telon kernel installed! I want to change my rom and kernel to darky rom and darkcore. What would be the method? A very brief method would be appreciated. Thanx
here you go!!

If i was going back to a darky ROM on my SGS I would flash 10.2RE through Odin and then simply flash 10.2.1 or the JVS base through CWM. Followed by my kernel of choice if i didn't want to stay on darkcore.
I don't think I would bother with the10.3 beta
